Cutesy Wife Sweet Like Honey: Mr. Mu's Nightly Dote!

Chapter 1165: Chapter 1207: We’ll Talk When We Meet

In the following days, Ling Yueyue’s phone remained unreachable. No matter when she called, it always prompted that it couldn’t be connected.

Gradually, a sense of unease began to grow in Ling Shenglan’s heart.

Unable to reach Ling Yueyue, her husband Xiao Feng’s daily calls urging her to return home made Ling Shenglan even more agitated, her fear and anxiety growing with each passing moment.

On the fifth day, unable to contact Ling Yueyue, Ling Shenglan had no choice but to call Huo Junmo.

Huo Junmo’s phone was reachable and quickly answered, with a soft ”Hello” from the other side.

Feeling slightly embarrassed, Ling Shenglan spoke, ”Junmo! It’s me, your aunt!”

Huo Junmo replied indifferently, ”I know.”

Surprised by Huo Junmo’s cold tone, Ling Shenglan was momentarily stunned.

Previously, every time they interacted, Huo Junmo was always respectful, addressing her as ”aunt” warmly. Why did he feel distant this time? Was it just her imagination?

Shaking off these thoughts, Ling Shenglan laughed, ”Here’s the thing, I’ve been calling Yueyue, but haven’t been able to reach her. I miss her and Tiantian a lot, not having seen them for so many days. I was wondering if I could see them, or if you could let her know I’m looking for her and ask her to call me.”

Faced with Ling Shenglan’s question, there was a moment of silence on the other end from Huo Junmo.

Seeing the lack of response, thinking Huo Junmo was unwilling to agree, Ling Shenglan tentatively asked, ”Junmo, has something happened, is that why Yueyue doesn’t want to see me?”

One couldn’t blame her for thinking this way, as too many things had happened lately.

Unable to reach Ling Yueyue, her husband’s incessant urging calls, and the list of monthly living expenses sent by her brother and sister-in-law from Yueyue.

She felt as if there was some kind of connection between these events.

After a pause, Huo Junmo finally spoke, ”When are you available? Let’s have a meal together.”

Without a second thought, Ling Shenglan quickly nodded and said, ”I’m available anytime, as long as you are!”

Huo Junmo nodded, ”Alright then, at noon, twelve o’clock, at the Chinese restaurant across from my company. See you there!”

”Alright! See you there!” Ling Shenglan replied confidently before hanging up the phone.

Just after hanging up with Huo Junmo, her phone rang again. Glancing at the caller ID, seeing it was her husband from abroad calling, she felt a throbbing at her temples and a twitch in her brow. Despite her reluctance, she answered the call, ”Hello!”

On the other end, Xiao Feng wasted no time getting to the point, ”When are you coming back?”

Ling Shenglan sighed and said, ”Xiao Feng, can you stop pressuring me? I told you, once I handle things here, I’ll return. How can I go back without resolving things here peacefully?”

Xiao Feng demanded sternly, ”What’s so important over there? Our son misses you a lot and asks me every day when you’ll be back. I keep lying to him that you’re coming soon, and now he doesn’t believe me anymore! Is what’s happening there more important than me and our son?”

Hearing Xiao Feng mention their son, Ling Shenglan felt a lump in her throat and replied hoarsely, ”Please tell our baby I’m sorry. Let him know that once I’ve dealt with everything here, I’ll come back to be with him! Give me a little more time, and I’ll sort it out quickly!”

”Every day you delay, you initially promised you’d be back in two months when you returned, but it’s been half a year now. Just when you finally said you’d be back, your flight suddenly got delayed! What’s so important over there that you keep refusing to return? Are you hiding some unspeakable secret from my son and me?” Xiao Feng’s emotions started to get out of control as he finished.

Feeling guilty from his words, Ling Shenglan couldn’t find anything credible to refute; she could only say helplessly, ”Just give me two more months, okay? I’m almost done handling my affairs here, and once done, I’ll return!” She couldn’t help but frown and ask, ”Xiao Feng, you used to trust me no matter what I did. Why do you keep urging me to return this time and say such things?”

For some reason, she felt like Xiao Feng might have figured something out!

But how could he have known?

The issue hadn’t escalated; her lawsuit with her brother and sister-in-law hadn’t even started, and he was abroad, so how could he know about Yueyue’s situation?

Yet, his words indeed forced her to think this way.

”I used to trust you too much, too lenient with you, and that’s why... that’s why...!” Xiao Feng started but didn’t continue further.

Truth be told, he still cared for her! Even knowing about her troubled past, he didn’t want to tear it open, fearing it would affect their marital relationship.

Now, he just wanted his wife to return quickly. As for her past, he wasn’t planning on pursuing it because it happened before they knew each other, and he wasn’t someone who would hold onto the past.

Although Xiao Feng didn’t say more, Ling Shenglan detected another layer of chill in his words and frowned, asking, ”Why what?”

”Nothing, just hurry back, or... or you’ll never see me and the child again!” he said, hanging up without waiting for her response.

Listening to the busy tone from the phone, Ling Shenglan rubbed her temples in fatigue.

Truly, wave after wave of issues came, one after another, overwhelming her.

Although her husband dropped harsh words at the end, she didn’t take them to heart! Every time he called to urge her return, those were his parting words!

Even if she didn’t go back, her husband never truly left her with their child, merely attempting to scare her.

Shaking her head helplessly, Ling Shenglan placed her phone on the coffee table and then got up to change clothes in the room.

To present the best image meeting Huo Junmo, she took advantage of the time to visit the salon, getting her hair washed and styled. When the time was about right, she hailed a cab on the street headed for Huo Tian Group.

When she arrived at the designated Chinese restaurant by Huo Junmo, there were still ten minutes until noon. Seeing he hadn’t arrived yet, she found a spot to sit and ordered a fruit juice to sip while waiting for him.

At noon sharp, Huo Junmo appeared at the restaurant’s entrance.

Upon seeing him, Ling Shenglan quickly waved to greet him.
