The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

”Master, is this all we need to do?”

On the way back, Bao Bufen kept asking Xiao Yuan.

Xiao Yuan shook his head, ”Not yet.”

”Then what else do we need to prepare?”

Bao Bufen started to get nervous again.

”Don’t worry. There’s nothing wrong with your ancestral tomb now. I already adjusted it, and harmonized the Yin and Yang Qi of the yin house. Additionally, I set up a formation near your ancestral tomb. You need to plant a peach tree that has grown for at least ten years in the spot I specified. That location is the eye of the formation. Once it’s planted, it will block the Evil Qi and absorb the Yin and Yang Qi into the roots of the peach tree. That peach tree will function like... think of it as an air purifier, specifically purifying Evil Qi and balancing Yin and Yang. As long as nothing unexpected happens, the formation I set up can protect your ancestral tomb for a hundred years without incident.”

”Is there anything else wrong with my home?”

Bao Bufen couldn’t figure it out no matter what.

Xiao Yuan patted him on the shoulder, ”Your yin house is fine now, but there’s something wrong with the Yang Mansion.”

”Yang, Yang Mansion?”

Bao Bufen was startled, ”The house we’re living in now?”

”Yes.” Xiao Yuan nodded.

When they arrived at Bao Bufen’s house, Xiao Yuan took him around to the back of the house.

Bao Bufen’s house had a large yard, and there was a vacant lot behind the house.

Xiao Yuan asked Bao Bufen to find an excavator.

Bao Bufen made a phone call, and soon someone drove an excavator over.

Xiao Yuan pointed to a spot and told the driver, ”Dig here.”

The driver looked at Bao Bufen.

Bao Bufen said sternly, ”Dig, listen to the master.”

Soon, the driver began working the excavator, digging for about half an hour, and had dug several meters deep when Xiao Yuan suddenly said, ”Stop.”

The driver immediately halted the work, driving the excavator to the side to wait.

Xiao Yuan and Bao Bufen approached, and Xiao Yuan pointed to the deep pit, telling Bao Bufen, ”Take a look.”

Bao Bufen looked inside and was terrified, ”What’s, what’s going on here?”

It turned out that the underground in this area had cracked, revealing a very deep fissure, with the appearance of a sharp front and a wide back, resembling an arrowhead.

”I don’t know what caused this.”

Xiao Yuan frowned at the fissure, ”This is also the main reason why your home has been unsettled lately. You previously consulted a master who said there was a scimitar evil spirit in front of your house, but rituals didn’t help. Actually, the issue with your home is not due to the scimitar evil spirit, but because of this fissure.”

”What’s the story behind this crack?”

Bao Bufen truly didn’t understand Feng Shui.

Xiao Yuan said seriously, ”You know the saying, ’An open blade is easy to avoid, a hidden arrow is hard to guard against.’ The scimitar evil spirit you had before was the open blade, easy to spot and avoid. But this fissure creates a hidden arrow. Think about it, your family was being hurt by hidden forces day and night. It’s no wonder issues arose.”

Bao Bufen was already pale with fear, ”Master, what should we do?”

Xiao Yuan extended his hand, ”Where are the things I asked you to prepare earlier?”

Bao Bufen remembered that there were still some things left at the ancestral tomb.

He quickly had someone bring them over. Xiao Yuan took the items, removed a bronze Xie Deer specially made, and handed it to Bao Bufen, ”You place it down there yourself.”

Bao Bufen had someone bring over a ladder. He was a bit scared and tied a rope around his waist, securing it above before he climbed down.

Once down, Bao Bufen looked up at Xiao Yuan.

Xiao Yuan nodded, and he placed the paper-wrapped Xie Deer into the crack.

After Bao Bufen came out, Xiao Yuan had people fill in the crack. When it was fully filled, he clapped his hands, ”Done.”

”Is that all?”

Bao Bufen felt like he was dreaming.

Xiao Yuan smiled, ”The Xie Deer, an ancient divine beast, also called Xiezhi, can distinguish right from wrong, representing brightness and integrity. Using it to subdue hidden harm is most suitable.”

Bao Bufen just kept nodding.

Xiao Yuan further advised, ”However, after inviting the Xie Deer, you must also be mindful that your family acts with integrity, avoiding deceitful means; otherwise, it might harm you.”

”Definitely, definitely.”

Bao Bufen nodded like a bobblehead, ”Master, rest assured, I will certainly do more good deeds from now on and act with honesty, avoiding underhanded methods. I’m really scared this time.”

”Only then can your home be safe and prosperous.” Xiao Yuan checked the time, ”It’s getting late, I must hurry back.”

Bao Bufen was about to see Xiao Yuan off, but Xiao Yuan waved his hand, ”No need to send me, I’ll just take a cab back.”

”I will send someone to take you back, I can’t let you take a cab. You’ve helped us, and I haven’t even treated you to a meal. I’m already feeling very sorry.” Bao Bufen said many flattering words to Xiao Yuan with a smile on his face.

Xiao Yuan just listened, not taking it to heart.

Bao Bufen arranged for a car to come over. As soon as Xiao Yuan sat in the car, he received a call from Zhang Hao, ”Mr. Xiao, the paternity test results are out. I’ll send them to you.”

”Send them over.”

After Xiao Yuan said this, the electronic document came through soon after.

He checked it and said, ”Mr. Zhang, I’ll go home and ask Yilin what she thinks about the child.”

”That’s expected.” Zhang Hao responded with a smile, ”But I still hope to bring the child back as soon as possible. After all, we can offer the child a different level of education and resources.”

”Alright, I understand.” Xiao Yuan didn’t get upset and hurried back home after hanging up the phone.

The four children went to the amusement park today. When Xiao Yuan got home, only Anning was there.

She had finished her homework preparation and was busy typing away.

After Anning finished a Chapter, Xiao Yuan said, ”Let’s go check out the house first.”

”Sure.”

Anning stood up with a smile.

As they walked out, they discussed things, and Anning shared her thoughts, ”I initially wanted to move to the City, but after what happened, I think we should wait a couple of years before moving there.”

Xiao Yuan nodded, ”I think so too. After what happened, the two kids’ minds would surely be uneasy. If LuLu continues schooling in the City, she’s bound to run into familiar faces and hear plenty of gossip, which would be bad for them.”

”Let’s leave the downtown apartment for later.”

Anning laughed, ”We’ll tidy it up when we move there in a couple of years.”

The two of them rode e-bikes to the house gifted by Bao Bufen.

To be honest, Bao Bufen really put a lot of thought into it.

The house was close to the children’s middle school. It was in a neighborhood built around eight or nine years ago, where the very front was reserved for small villas, and the house Bao Bufen gave to Xiao Yuan was the crown jewel of the area.

The house was in the middle of the small villa cluster, occupying the largest space, built as a two-story house with later additions of an attic.

Anning and Xiao Yuan arrived, and Xiao Yuan took out the key to open the gate.

They pushed their e-bikes into the yard.

The yard was designed with traditional Chinese aesthetics, having small bridges and flowing water. Upon entry, it felt like a winding corridor surrounded by bird songs and floral scents; very pleasant indeed.

They followed the corridor through the yard and went inside. Anning and Xiao Yuan toured around.

One side of the living room faced the yard, with large floor-to-ceiling windows. The living room had a bright and simple design. In addition to the living room, there was a kitchen and bathroom on the first floor, along with a master bedroom and two guest bedrooms.

Upstairs was a small living room and a large terrace, plus four bedrooms.

The house was indeed quite big, and each bedroom on the second floor was spacious, each equipped with an en-suite bathroom and a small walk-in closet. The rooms were fully furnished, even with bedding ready in the cabinets—ready to use when needed.

Anning checked the bathroom, finding all necessary supplies installed.

She then toured the kitchen on the first floor, confirming it had all utensils along with some drinks and beer in the fridge. Practically, they only needed to buy some staple foods and spices, making the home move-in ready.

”Bao Bufen is quite thoughtful.”

Anning seemed satisfied with the house, ”When do we move?”
