The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

Fu Jun was reading in the small room’s study.

The girl he had been waiting for these past few days had not come, which made him anxious, worried that Miss Yao might be in trouble, and he couldn’t focus on his reading.

Today, he sat at the desk reading since early morning, but even after half a day passed, he still couldn’t read a single word.

Feeling restless, Fu Jun really wanted to inquire about what was happening at the Yao Family, and what had happened to Miss Yao. But he dared not, so he just endured like this.

Just as he put down the book intending to go for a walk, a servant came over: ”Young Master Fu, our Old Master invites you over.”

Fu Jun was taken to the main courtyard of the Yao Family.

As soon as he entered, he saw Yao Xuelian and immediately felt delighted.

He thought about taking some time to ask Yao Xuelian what she had been doing these past few days, whether she had been sick.

Suppressing his longing, Fu Jun went over to greet Old Master Yao and Old Madam Yao.

Originally, Old Madam Yao was somewhat annoyed with Fu Jun, blaming him for intentionally ruining the reputation of Yao Family’s daughter, and thinking him too calculating.

However, when she learned from Master Lu that a demon had impersonated Xue Lian to seduce Fu Jun, she couldn’t blame him anymore.

This matter couldn’t really be blamed on Fu Jun.

Fu Jun and Yao Xuelian were already engaged; they had a status together, and at this time, he believed Yao Xuelian had feelings for him. How could he remain indifferent?

She was his future wife, being a bit close was not inappropriate.

Furthermore, this child was just at the age of youthful longing, naturally drawn to a beautiful and gentle girl who was also his future wife. It was a very normal thing; honestly, this child was deceived too, and he was somewhat pitiable.

Thus, Old Madam Yao was still very kind to Fu Jun.

Of course, Old Master Yao had no intention of blaming Fu Jun.

He summoned Fu Jun to clarify this matter, to make him understand what exactly was going on.

”Jun’er is here.”

Old Master Yao gestured for Fu Jun to stand beside him: ”Recently, I’ve heard about your matter, held some doubts, and sent someone to investigate what’s truly going on with you and Xue Lian, only to find someone impersonating Xue Lian to get close to you.”

”What?”

Fu Jun was shocked: ”Uncle, what, what exactly is happening?”

Yao Xuelian stepped forward and slightly bowed to Fu Jun: ”Greetings, Young Master Fu. The other day in the garden, I thought you intended to denigrate me, hence said some inappropriate words, thus reprimanded Young Master. It was my fault; I apologize to Young Master.”

Fu Jun backed up several steps, continuously waving his hand: ”No, it’s not Miss’ fault, not Miss’ fault, I...”

His face flushed in an instant, even his ears turned red.

Old Master Yao spoke in a deep voice: ”I examined everyone in the mansion but couldn’t find the woman who impersonated Xue Lian. Left with no option, I invited Master Lu.”

Fu Jun had heard of Master Lu’s reputation, and hurriedly greeted him.

Master Lu returned the greeting, then pointed at the river clam in the water tank: ”It’s this creature that cultivated into a spirit; it admires Young Master Fu, and knowing the kind and noble character of Young Master, couldn’t approach him as an ordinary girl, thus transformed into Miss Yao’s likeness to meet with Young Master.”

”It’s actually it.”

Fu Jun listened and was enraged, clenching his teeth, his fair face turning even redder: ”Never would have thought, this matter indeed was due to my rashness, only thinking Yao Family didn’t disdain poverty and treated me well, Miss Yao was also a virtuous and righteous girl, feeling grateful and willing to be close to Miss Yao, not expecting this demon would seize the opportunity, this matter is I...”

He was angry and embarrassed, unsure how to face the Yao Family.

Old Master Yao patted Fu Jun’s shoulder: ”Dear nephew, why say such words, this matter is not your fault, just the demon’s wicked mind.”

This moment, Yao Xuelian also changed her opinion of Fu Jun.

Originally, she saw Fu Jun as shabby, feeling he was timid and weak. Later, with such incidents happening, she came to dislike him even more.

But now, it appeared Fu Jun wasn’t someone ignorant of what’s what, thus didn’t dislike him as much.

She hid behind Old Madam Yao, peeking her head out to smile at Fu Jun: ”This matter is not Young Master’s fault.”

Yao Xuelian’s smile made Fu Jun’s face even redder, his face burning, wishing for a fan to cool down, yet without a fan, he felt a bit uneasy.

His appearance amused Yao Xuelian even more.

Anning approached the tank, reached out to grab the River Clam Spirit, untied the rope binding the clam spirit, and tossed the river clam at Fu Jun’s feet: ”Young Master Fu, see clearly, it’s this creature that deceived you.”

She also picked up a stone to smash the river clam’s shell: ”What did you originally look like? I’ve heard you’re extremely ugly, I haven’t seen any ugly people, really want to see, quickly change into it for me.”

Fu Jun backed away a few steps, somewhat bewildered at Anning, while Master Lu’s mouth twitched continuously.

This girl is truly bold, leaving him unsure how to react.

Mrs. Luo pulled Anning: ”Be careful, this is a demon, don’t let her harm you.”

Anning waved her hand: ”It’s fine, the master has said, I’m the reincarnation of hundred-life good people, demons and monsters can’t harm me.”

While speaking, Anning replaced a stone and struck the river clam: ”Hurry up and transform, if you don’t, I’ll throw you into a pot to boil for soup.”

These words startled the River Clam Spirit, who trembled twice before transforming into a human form.

Then, everyone in the courtyard saw a girl, hugely fat, hideously ugly, kneeling in the middle of the courtyard.

This girl was extremely fat; let’s say, she looked about three times the size of Yao Xuelian.

Moreover, she had a pancake face, her face was particularly large and round, with very small eyes, like mung beans, with sparse eyebrows, a bulbous garlic nose, beneath which grew a gaping mouth.

In addition to this, her skin was somewhat wrinkled, anyway she looked extremely unseemly, making one feel nauseated.

Despite her nauseating appearance, she made a coquettish expression while gazing at Fu Jun: ”Young Master save me, I admire Young Master, Young Master...”

Fu Jun couldn’t hold back and rushed to the side, retching violently.

It wasn’t merely due to the clam spirit’s ugliness that he vomited; he wasn’t that superficial. Mainly, thinking that this creature was originally a river clam, instantly changing into a girl’s appearance, alongside prior interactions with this girl, he couldn’t bear it.

Apart from Fu Jun, several others were utterly disgusted.

The River Clam Spirit got up, her body fat shaking.

She wanted to approach Fu Jun, but Fu Jun quickly hid behind Master Lu.

”Young Master?”

The clam spirit was immensely aggrieved: ”I treated Young Master with deep affection, why Young Master...”

”Silence.”

Fu Jun angrily exclaimed: ”What deep affection, you’re clearly harming me, why did you transform into my fiancée’s appearance to deceive me? You made me misunderstand Miss Yao, you’re downright despicable, I... I was truly blind, how did I not notice your inconsistencies before, had I known you were a demon, I would have sought a mage to destroy you long ago.”

The clam spirit wore a wounded expression: ”Why is Young Master so heartless? Turns out Young Master is also superficial, only admiring beautiful girls; otherwise, why when I was good-looking did Young Master... Now I’m ugly and Young Master makes a face of disdain.”

Fu Jun trembled with anger: ”You’re spouting nonsense; before you were in Miss Yao’s likeness, I believed it was Miss Yao, who is my legitimate fiancée, thus got close to you. If you hadn’t transformed into Miss Yao’s likeness, even if you turned into a Heavenly Immortal, I would absolutely keep my distance.”

Fu Jun’s words contained some self-justification, but they were indeed his inner truth.

His father was somewhat pedantic, and he himself maintained propriety. Ever since being engaged to the Yao Family, he naturally kept away from other girls, never letting anyone take advantage even for a moment.
