Chapter 446: Chapter 437: I Am the Vicious Eldest Aunt 24 (Bonus for 100 Monthly Tickets)

Xu Minruo returned to her room, holding the new clothes and jewelry Anning had given her.

Her living quarters had also changed from before.

Now she lived in the largest room in the west wing, which was previously inhabited by Xu Zhiyong and his wife, and after they moved out, it became Xu Minruo’s boudoir.

Anning had specially tidied up this room for her.

The walls of the room had been repainted, making it look much cleaner. There was a very wide bed placed against the wall, and the beddings were particularly neat, made of fine cotton fabric. Although the colors were simple and there were no embroidery, it looked very elegant.

On the other side of the room, there was a wardrobe closet and a table, and in other areas, there was a wardrobe, as well as a washstand with a basin and some items Xu Minruo frequently used.

Xu Minruo, who was diligent, kept her room very clean and well-organized. Even the table had a coarse porcelain vase with water, nurturing a bunch of wild chrysanthemums she had picked from the foot of the mountain herself.

Xu Minruo put away the clothes properly, wore a hairpin in her hair, looked at herself in a copper mirror, and her lips curled up revealing a genuine smile.

She felt her current life was like a dream.

She could eat her fill every day, didn’t have to endure beatings or scoldings, could wear new clothes, and even wear jewelry. Life was really too good, making her sometimes feel it was somewhat unreal.

She wished it could stay this way forever, living together with Grandma and her elder aunt.

She wanted to learn more skills and also learn to read, so that she could understand those books in the future.

Moreover, Xu Minruo thought about the servants that had been bought for the home, and that in the future she wouldn’t have to do so much work. Having time to learn new things made her even happier.

Xu Minruo had just put her things away when she heard Lan calling her from the yard. She answered and went out.

As soon as she stepped out, Lan asked her to squat down and stuffed a candy into her mouth, ”Big sister, try this, it’s very sweet.”

Xu Minruo smiled, ”It really is sweet.”

Indeed, just like these days.

Liu Chunmei came over, Liu Bao and Liu Laifu carried a small bed into Xu Minruo’s room, and Liu Chunmei brought blankets to make the bed.

After making the bed, she came to see the eldest young lady.

Xu Minruo smiled and said, ”That’s enough, no need for so many formalities, from now on let’s just get along well.”

Liu Chunmei also smiled, ”Yes, I’ll listen to you.”

The house was bustling and busy until several days later when it finally calmed down.

By then, the old master had found a few pieces of land, and Anning asked Liu Bao to buy the land from the old master.

The first branch’s days were visibly becoming more and more prosperous; everyone in Xiao Guan Village saw that Xu Family’s first branch had hired servants, bought a lot of land, as well as a bullock cart, and the whole family wore brand-new clothes and ate and drank well every day, looking different from any other family.

The villagers envied them immensely.

Some even went to the second and third branch to make cutting remarks.

What they said to the third branch, Xu Zhiqin’s family, was still bearable, like how Xu Zhiqin divided the family too early, if not, he would also be enjoying good days with the main branch, eating and drinking well.

Xu Zhiqin acted as if he hadn’t heard.

Even if Mrs. Li had some thoughts, she had no face to go to the main branch looking for benefits.

The couple wasn’t ill-hearted and focused solely on working and earning money.

But it was different for the second branch.

Many people looked down on the actions of the second branch of the family and specifically went there just to upset them.

Several aunties and grannies who had good relations with Old Madam and Anning went to Mrs. Feng’s place, each one of them deliberately saying things that were piercing to the heart.

”Ah, what can one say? Who asked you to raise such a disgraceful daughter? It’s unheard of for her to keep money for herself and not buy medicine for her own father. Instead, she’s just full of malicious schemes. If it were my child, I would have strangled her long ago to avoid further trouble for the whole family.”

”And isn’t that right? Like mother, like daughter. The mother always dwells on her own family, and the daughter she raised is just as stingy. I have never seen any married daughter who still supports her birth family. It’s fortunate you don’t have a younger sister; otherwise, she might find it impossible to get married.”

”They deserve to split the family and not have good days. Look, since the main family separated from them, hasn’t their life improved? Even the widow of the main family could make her life prosperous, while poor Xu Laoer, who had great skills, had his talents wasted by that ruinous wife.”

Those words stung Mrs. Feng’s heart one after the other.

Mrs. Feng was in tears, feeling wronged, but deep down she still resented Anning.

She blamed Anning for splitting the family.

If they had not split, others wouldn’t have said these things to her.

If they had not split, she too would have been enjoying the good days.

She had slaved away in the Xu Family, and now they had kicked her out so easily.

Besides blaming Anning, Mrs. Feng also resented Xu Minruo.

Thinking of how her eldest daughter knelt and begged Old Madam to let her stay when splitting the family, she gnashed her teeth in hatred.

That damned girl, now having a good life, did not even think of her parents or siblings. If only she had managed to get something nice from the main family to send to them, it would have at least shown that she cared. But since the split, that girl hadn’t even come to visit once, which showed she was utterly heartless.

Mrs. Feng dared not voice these complaints, but she harbored them in her heart.

When she got home and saw Xu Erya sunbathing by the wall, her anger erupted, and she grabbed a broom and hit her with it.

”I’ll beat you to death, you damned girl. If it wasn’t for you, we wouldn’t have split the family, and we wouldn’t be living like this now. It’s all your fault, all your fault...”

Xu Erya quickly dodged, and Mrs. Feng threw the broom aside, exhausted: ”What are you standing there for? Go and cook now.”

Xu Erya didn’t cry but glared at Mrs. Feng resentfully.

She initially thought Mrs. Feng was kind, but it turned out Mrs. Feng was really good at pretending.

On the surface, she seemed gentle, virtuous, and gentle, but deep down, she was the most selfish and mean.

At that moment, Xu Erya truly regretted the family splitting.

If the family hadn’t split, she wouldn’t have to do so much work every day, and Mrs. Feng wouldn’t beat her.

Xu Erya now didn’t even eat her fill and had to do so much work every day, which was truly unbearable for her.

She thought, she had to heal Xu Zhiyong’s leg soon.

Only when Xu Zhiyong could go out to work could she have enough food, and she also needed to find a way to get some money from Xu Zhiyong.

What Xu Erya was thinking, Anning did not know.

These past few days, she was at home working on another embroidery piece.

This time, she was embroidering a landscape painting, modeled after the legendary Thousand Miles of Mountains and Rivers painting she had seen in a previous life.

It was difficult to embroider a landscape painting, and even harder to capture its spirit. Fortunately, both Anning’s embroidery and painting skills were of Grandmaster Level, so what was extremely difficult for others wasn’t so hard for her.

As she embroidered, she infused some Spiritual Power into it, planning to spend half a year completing this piece.

Just as Anning was absorbed in embroidering the landscape painting, a major event occurred in Prefecture City, and Anning’s embroidered work suddenly became famous.
