The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

Chapter 429: Chapter 420: I’m the Vicious Eldest Aunt-in-Law 7

Xu Zhiyong was tongue-tied.

”Mom, what do you mean by this?”

Old Madam was so angry she wanted to shove her foolish son back into her womb and remake him: ”What do I mean? Don’t you understand? It’s your wife who gave all the money you earned to her parents’ home.”

”Is that possible?”

Xu Zhiyong still couldn’t believe it.

”Then let me ask you, where has the money you earned gone? Did your wife spend it on another man?”

Old Madam’s words were even less polite now.

Xu Zhiyong’s face turned ashen: ”Mom, please don’t speak nonsense, my wife is not that kind of person.”

Fine, Old Madam closed her eyes and waved her hand: ”You can go.”

With his face full of doubts, Xu Zhiyong left.

Old Madam waited for him to leave before opening her eyes, then showed a bitter smile: ”Useless dog can’t be helped.”

When it was time to sleep at night, Old Madam wouldn’t let Old Master sleep, pinching him awake as soon as he closed his eyes.

”What are you doing?”

Old Master was also a bit angry: ”Won’t you let people sleep?”

Old Madam angrily slapped Old Master: ”Sleep, sleep, with the house in this state, can you still sleep?”

Old Master had no choice but to rub his face and after waking up a bit he asked: ”What exactly is going on? Who has upset you?”

Old Madam softly said, ”Old man, let’s divide the house.”

”What?”

Old Master was frightened and sat up suddenly: ”Why think of dividing the house now? Originally when Eldest passed away, you told me you didn’t want to divide the house, thinking of letting Second and Third take more care of Eldest’s family for a few years, why think of dividing now?”

Old Madam sat up decisively: ”I originally thought Eldest’s family was having a hard time, so I wanted Second and Third to help Eldest’s family for a few years, but who knew that these two years have only brought resentment among the families, and Eldest’s Wife has suffered a lot. If this continues, I fear this family will fall apart.”

Old Master, thinking of today’s troubles, also felt upset.

”Erya’s words were definitely taught by the adults.”

He also sighed deeply: ”Tell me, what are Second and Third thinking? Although we haven’t divided the family, we have indeed separated slightly, with each room keeping its own earnings and only contributing some shared expenses each month, and even that they can’t tolerate.”

Old Master was genuinely heartbroken.

He had originally made the small family separation secretly, fearing that each room might have grievances, but it turned out like this, and both sons were still relentless.

”And Second’s family.”

Old Madam thought of Mrs. Feng and grew even more angry: ”She’s no good, pretends to be honest, but when she bites, she’s vicious.”

”How should we divide the house then.”

Old Master had never really argued with Old Madam in his life.

He also knew Old Madam was shrewd and capable, and he often listened to her advice; if Old Madam wanted to divide the house, he wondered how to do it.

”How else could we divide?”

Old Madam sneered: ”What belongs to the public remains ours, the money saved by each family goes to them, this house was also built by us, those two fools won’t get anything, I’ll have them swept out of the house.”

Old Master was stunned: ”Then, which of our children do we live with?”

He really hadn’t expected Old Madam to want to empty out both sons.

Old Madam slapped Old Master: ”With Eldest, traditionally the eldest son is responsible for taking care of his parents.”

Old Master exclaimed in shock: ”How can that be, Eldest is gone, Eldest’s Wife already has her hands full with two children, plus the two of us old folks...”

In the countryside, it’s traditionally the eldest son who takes care of the parents, but the current situation was different, Eldest was gone, and by rights, they should go live with Second. Old Master had originally thought that after the family was divided they would live with Second, but Old Madam was not happy with this.

”Do you really want to live with Second? You’d have to commit your old bones in full, let me tell you, I don’t want to be angered to death early, I still want to live a few more years. I’m waiting to see my beloved grandson gloriously pass the Imperial Examination.”

Old Master fell silent.

To tell the truth, he also looked down on the younger son’s mannerisms.

”You, you should discuss it with the Eldest Son’s Wife first, to see if she is willing.”

At this time, the old master also somewhat wanted to live with the Eldest.

The Eldest Son’s Wife, a widow who lost her job, had a hard time raising two children on her own; with them around, they could help out while they were still able to move.

”Alright.”

Old Madam agreed: ”I think the Eldest Son’s Wife would definitely be willing.”

”You go ask.”

The old master sighed a few times, but soon fell asleep.

Old Madam, however, couldn’t sleep at all, only dozing off a bit when it was almost dawn.

Today, it just so happened to be Mrs. Feng’s turn to cook.

Old Madam had barely napped before being woken up by the noise of Mrs. Feng cooking, and couldn’t help but curse a few times.

Xu Er Ya hid in the room, her eyes flashing fiercely.

She felt that she couldn’t stand it any longer.

With Old Madam and Mrs. Wen’s shamelessness and vicious hearts, she couldn’t stand even a minute longer, thinking about Mrs. Feng working hard from dawn to dusk and still getting scolded, while the main house’s Mrs. Wen had an easy life every day and was especially favored by Old Madam, Xu Er Ya felt it was unfair for Mrs. Feng.

She thought, she had to find a way to separate the family earlier.

Feeling aggrieved, Xu Er Ya drank some spiritual spring water.

Indeed, Xu Er Ya was not just a person who had crossed over; she also had a Golden Finger, which was the spiritual spring space.

She had just discovered yesterday that she had a spiritual spring space.

Though the space couldn’t store much nor had any Cultivation Technique scriptures, it did have a well that produced spiritual spring water.

The well could produce a bowl of spiritual spring water daily, which could make people more beautiful and healthier, free from illness and calamity.

Xu Er Ya wanted to separate the family precisely because she felt she had this backing now having the spiritual spring space.

After drinking the spiritual spring water, she felt somewhat calmer.

Anning was doing Lan’s hair early in the morning when she suddenly felt an unusual fluctuation.

She squinted her eyes slightly, a smile forming at the corner of her mouth.

Xu Er Ya stayed at home until late morning and then excused herself to go out to play, leaving the Xu Family’s house.

When she read that novel, she remembered that Brother Ying, from the main house, once found a piece of gold while playing at the foot of the mountain.

Now penniless, though she had the spiritual spring, it wasn’t convenient to use, so she thought if she found some gold, her plan could proceed.

Xu Er Ya walked intermittently until she reached the crooked willow described in the book; she walked around the willow a few times, and upon seeing some brightness in the shrubbery, hurried over and, indeed, she found gold.

She joyfully picked up the piece of gold, secured it, and continued to gather half a basket of pig forage before returning.

Old Madam went to Anning’s room after breakfast.

She sent Lan and Brother Ying out to play, wanting to talk alone with Anning.

”Eldest Son’s Wife, I want to separate the family.”

Anning set aside her embroidery, looked steadily at Old Madam: ”Mom, what made you think of separating the family? Weren’t you reluctant before?”

Old Madam didn’t hide her concerns from Anning, sharing what was on her mind.

”If Dad and Mom have already decided, I naturally have no objections.”

Anning smiled, ”Although I’m just a woman, I can still support Dad, Mom, and the two children with my embroidery skills. Once we separate, let Dad and Mom stay with our main house.”

Old Madam didn’t expect Anning to proactively offer to support them in their old age, and felt a surge of happiness, then a tinge of pity for Anning.

”We can still work now, after separating, your dad can help you manage the crops, I can also help with the children and cooking; others won’t dare to bully you ladies.”

Anning smiled lightly, ”Even though my husband is gone, I am his wife and should rightly fulfill my duties to him. Just let Dad and Mom live with me, if I have food, they won’t starve, don’t worry about the work. If I still make my parents labor for me like this, what kind of person would I be?”

Just then, Brother Ying came in looking for water to drink, hearing this he quickly ran to Old Madam: ”Grandma, I’ll take care of you and Grandpa, just wait a few years until I grow up, I’ll definitely honor you well on behalf of my dad.”
