The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

Chapter 422: Chapter 415: I Am the Vicious Eldest Aunt (Part 2)

Anning recounted the origins and thoughts of Xu Erya to Wen Anning in fine detail.

Wen Anning was stunned for a long time, then her face broke into a smile.

Her smile was chilling to the bone.

”So, that’s how it is, that’s how it is... But what right does she have? What right?”

Wen Anning was almost manic.

Anning touched her forehead with a finger, and Wen Anning finally calmed down.

”Fairy.”

Wen Anning kneeled to kowtow to Anning: ”I want Xu Erya to live, I want her to live a life worse than death, to suffer all torments. And my Lan, my Ying Ge’er, I want my children to be well. They must be well.”

Anning helped Wen Anning up: ”As you wish.”

Wen Anning smiled.

Her smile contained a trace of gratitude.

Gradually, her figure disappeared.

Anning tore through the space-time passage and turned to enter Wen Anning’s world.

”Mom, I beg you, save Erya, please, Mom, I kowtow to you, please save Erya.”

When Anning woke up again, she heard a miserable wailing from outside.

She squinted her eyes slightly, lying in bed for a good while before getting up.

The moment she moved, Lan, who had been sleeping by her side, also awoke.

Lan rubbed her eyes: ”Mom, it’s still dark outside, why are you getting up so early?”

Anning took a cotton garment and draped it over Lan to prevent her from catching a chill: ”Your second aunt is outside making a racket; how could I possibly sleep?”

At this time, another round of noises from the second branch of Xu Family and Mrs. Feng came from outside.

”Grandma, please save my sister, I beg you.”

This was Xu Daya’s voice.

”Mom, you, give me some money, I’ll find a doctor for Erya.”

This was Xu Zhiyong’s voice.

Of course, Mrs. Feng’s voice was the loudest: ”Mom, Erya is your granddaughter, even if she’s just a servant girl, she’s still Xu Family’s flesh and blood, can you really bear to see her die?”

”Mom, I’m a little scared.”

Lan was still young, and hearing the shouting and screaming outside made her feel frightened.

She snuggled close to Anning, seeking some warmth and comfort.

Anning hugged her and tucked the quilt corner: ”Don’t be scared, your mom is here, just lie down and I’ll be with you.”

At that moment, Old Mrs. Xu spoke: ”I won’t save her, what makes me owe it to her to spend my money on, did my money come from the wind? If a servant girl dies, she dies.”

This statement reached Lan’s ears, and she felt even more afraid.

She clung tightly to Anning: ”Mom, does Grandma... really despise her daughter so much? Will my second sister die?”

Lan actually held some grievances against Old Mrs. Xu.

After all, before Xu Erya was affected by the time travel, she truly was an honest child who took good care of Lan, and they had a very nice sisterly relationship.

Now, with Xu Erya’s life hanging by a thread, Old Mrs. Xu was stubbornly refusing to save her.

Lan felt that Old Madam was heartless and apathetic, which scared her.

With a sigh, Anning was about to speak to Lan when she heard the sound of a door being pushed open from another room. Following that, Ying Ge’er came over with a pillow in his arms.

”You’re not afraid of catching a cold, come here quickly.”

Ying Ge’er was wearing thin clothes, and Anning was afraid he would get cold, so she quickly got out of bed and held him down beside Lan, covering the siblings with a quilt.

Even so, Anning was still somewhat worried and touched Ying Ge’er’s hand again, feeling that his hand was still warm. Only then did she let out a sigh of relief.

After tucking in the quilt, she asked Ying Ge’er, ”Did you hear what was said just now?”

Ying Ge’er blinked his eyes: ”I heard it.”

”Do you also think your grandma is too heartless?”

Ying Ge’er thought for a long time: ”Why won’t Grandma save Second Sister?”

Anning patted Ying Ge’er, then touched Lan’s hand: ”Your grandma isn’t that heartless, your second sister is her own granddaughter, how could she not save her? But this matter... well, let me explain it to you in detail.”

Ying Ge’er and Lan perked up immediately: ”Mother, please tell us.”

Anning whispered: ”Ever since your third uncle got married, our family has been split up internally. It’s the kind where the public property isn’t divided, but the money each household earns, besides what is contributed for the family meals, will be kept for their own use. Your second uncle is a diligent man. Not only does he farm well, he also has good carpentry skills and often goes out to work, earning quite a bit of money. Speaking of which, over these years they should have saved some private funds. But look, Erya is now sick to the point of death, and yet they can’t even produce money for her treatment. This matter is not so simple.”

Lan never knew that their home had already been internally split.

She asked Anning curiously, ”Mother, what about our house? Where does our money come from?”

Anning smiled: ”I have my dowry silver, and some land properties. Plus, I’ve been doing embroidery work all these years, and have also earned quite a bit of money. Don’t worry, it’s enough for you to spend.”

Ying Ge’er, however, was pondering these matters.

He remembered Mrs. Feng often went back to her parental home, and one time he saw Mrs. Feng’s mother hurriedly meeting with Mrs. Feng at the entrance of the village before leaving. His eyes lit up: ”Mother, could it be that Second Aunt gave the money to her parental home?”

Meanwhile, in the western chamber, Xu Erya opened her eyes.

She had just transmigrated into this body and her head was still groggy; she couldn’t fully wake up. But she still heard the shouting outside.

Hearing the cold and unfeeling voice of Old Mrs. Xu, Xu Erya was burning with rage.

She cursed the Old Devout Woman in her heart for valuing sons over daughters, the foolish egg who would die a terrible death. She was so angry she wanted to strangle Old Mrs. Xu to death.

Before her transmigration, Xu Erya had read a book.

This book was mainly about the entire Xu family.

And the heroine of this book was Xu Minlan, the eldest daughter of the first branch of the Xu family.

Although this girl had lost her biological father, she had always had a good life in the Xu family.

Xu Minlan’s mother was the kind who had a sweet appearance but a bitter heart; she’d say one thing while doing another, skilled at uttering sweet nothings, only to secretly lead people to their demise.

With such a mother protecting her, Xu Minlan naturally didn’t have to fear Old Madam treating her badly.

From childhood, she lived as if she were soaked in honey, and in terms of food and clothes, she had the best of the entire Xu family.

When she grew up, she became extremely beautiful, and there was Zhou Xun, a high-ranking official who was her father’s classmate. Remembering the kindness of Xu Zhiwen, Zhou Xun was especially good to the first branch of the Xu family—giving them money, giving gifts. Later on, he even took Xu Minlan as his goddaughter, brought her to the Capital to live, and arranged a good marriage for her.

The exact opposite was Xu Erya from the second branch of the Xu family.

Xu Erya was utterly soaked in bitterness; Xu Zhiyong’s family was particularly honest, and Mrs. Feng was clumsy, only capable of working hard with her head down, but she endured endless bullying from the first branch.

There was a time when Xu Erya was hit and wounded, and when she came back, she developed a fever. Old Mrs. Xu didn’t bother to treat her but kept scolding her.

Later, it was only because Mrs. Feng, pained for Xu Erya, knelt down and begged Old Madam to treat Xu Erya’s illness. But Old Madam seemed to wish Xu Erya dead.

With no other choice, Mrs. Feng had to beg Mrs. Wen, the wealthiest member of the first branch. Mrs. Wen, however, avoided her and when Mrs. Feng barged into her room, Mrs. Wen was doing her hair, wearing a delicate silver hairpin, yet said the cruellest words, not willing to give even one cent to Mrs. Feng.

Because there was no money for medical treatment, Xu Erya died early.

After Xu Erya’s death, Mrs. Wen did not feel the slightest guilt or remorse. She kept chatting and laughing with her children, and continued to bully Mrs. Feng as before.

It wasn’t until Xu Minlan got married and had children of her own that she thought of her younger sister who died young, with nothing but a sigh.

At that time, the person who transmigrated into Xu Erya’s body felt a great deal of pity for the second branch of the Xu family, saying that they were all pushovers, unable to even protect a child.

She never expected that in a blink of an eye, she would transmigrate into Xu Erya herself.

Moreover, she heard with her own ears the harsh words spoken by Old Mrs. Xu.
