Sweet Rebirth: The Little Healer

Zhao Nuanyue listened and shook her head repeatedly. “Madam, these are your precious life experiences. Of course they’re useful! I agree completely and will take it all to heart. Your approach is the complete opposite of my mother’s. She would just endure everything until she couldn’t take it anymore, and then she’d start a huge fight. That actually just made our family relationships even more strained.”

“I’ve never spent time with your mother, so I don’t know what kind of person she is.” Madam Sun chuckled softly, then lovingly straightened a stray lock of hair at Zhao Nuanyue’s temple. “Ah, Nuanyue, there is one more thing I want to tell you, and I hope you’ll remember it. If your loved one has already repented, please find it in your heart to forgive her. I understand that hating the person closest to you is an incredibly painful thing. Once you let it go, your heart will feel lighter, and your life will become much better.”

Although Madam Sun had never met Zhao Nuanyue’s mother, Xia Yingyu, she already understood what kind of woman she was from Sun Haoran’s description.

That kind of woman loved her children, but she loved herself more. She had done her best for her children. Even if it wasn’t always perfect, she had tried. It was just that she was unwilling to escape her emotional prison, so she chose to run away instead.

Fortunately, that Xia Yingyu wasn’t completely blinded by her emotions. She still had a thread of reason, giving Nuanyue and Nuanyang a courtyard. Now that the two children were grown, they could stand on their own.

Hearing this, Zhao Nuanyue understood that Madam Sun was trying to guide her, to keep her from resenting her mother, Xia Yingyu.

“Actually, I don’t hate my mother. I just held a grudge back then. But after I grew up, I slowly came to understand her situation at the time. For her to have done what she did was actually quite remarkable, all things considered.” Zhao Nuanyue chuckled softly, showing that she had let it go.

Seeing how perceptive Zhao Nuanyue was, Madam Sun was very pleased. ‘A clever woman can often make her own life a happier one.’

“Good. You are a pure and kind child; your master is always praising you.” Madam Sun smiled. “Alright now, if there’s anything you can’t sort out or anything you don’t understand, you can come ask me. Even if you run into difficulties with your in-laws and don’t feel comfortable talking to your mother-in-law, you can tell me. It might be better if I step in and speak with the Hua family elders.”

“Yes, I’ll remember. Madam, you and Master are too good to me,” Zhao Nuanyue said gratefully. ‘Though my mother isn’t with me and my father passed away long ago, I’m so lucky to have met Master and Madam and to have received their care.’

“You are your master’s last disciple, and you will inherit his mantle in the future. That makes you no different from our own child,” Madam Sun said with a smile. “Immortal Grass Hall is so large, and your master and I only have your eldest senior brother as our child. He can’t support the entire Immortal Grass Hall by himself. He needs the help of all you junior brothers and sisters!”

“Madam, please rest assured. We will certainly work hard to make Immortal Grass Hall flourish,” Zhao Nuanyue said solemnly. This was her master’s hope, and it was also the goal for all of them as his disciples.

Madam Sun looked at Zhao Nuanyue affectionately, then glanced at the sky outside. “Alright, you’re about to get off work. Yu Sen is here to pick you up, so go to the Hua family’s home together. Although you haven’t had a wedding ceremony, you’ve registered your marriage and have consummated it. So, you should still visit often, especially since Yu Sen just came back from a mission and hasn’t even been home yet!”

Hearing Madam Sun say this, Zhao Nuanyue’s face turned beet red.

‘Was it that obvious?’

This morning, when her master saw her, he had looked her up and down a couple of times, then shot Hua Yusen a look that was half a smile, half not. The meaning was self-evident. Now she was here with Madam Sun, and Madam Sun could also tell that she and Hua Yusen had consummated their marriage last night.

‘Oh my, how mortifying!’

“Madam, you… how did you know?” Zhao Nuanyue was embarrassed, but she couldn’t suppress her curiosity. “Yesterday… yesterday… we just…”

“HAHAHA, you have to remember, I studied medicine too! And I also went from being a young maiden to a married woman. With decades of experience, how could I not tell?” Madam Sun said, chuckling. The shyness of a young woman had its own unique charm.

“Oh, so that’s how.” Zhao Nuanyue nodded, not daring to look up at Madam Sun.

“Don’t be embarrassed. Every woman goes through this. However, you young people are full of vigor and will inevitably indulge in pleasure, but you must also know restraint. You can’t act recklessly and deplete your body, or the loss will outweigh the gain,” Madam Sun advised. “Oh, right, wait a moment. I made some ointment earlier. I was originally planning to give it to you after your wedding. But since you’ve already consummated the marriage, you can use it now!”

After speaking, Madam Sun went into the other room and came out with a small white porcelain bottle. Inside was a nearly transparent ointment. She said, “Ah, Nuanyue, I made this from a recipe that came from my maiden family.”

“Huh?” Zhao Nuanyue was stunned. ‘Madam is just too thorough.’

“Don’t be so surprised. Using this will save you some suffering,” Madam Sun said, covering her mouth as she laughed. “Right, here’s the recipe. After you use this up, you can make it yourself. That Hua Yusen is a big fellow, and you’re so petite. If you’re not careful, you’ll definitely have a hard time.”

“Thank you, Madam,” Zhao Nuanyue said, her face red.

Madam Sun smiled and said, “Mm, then make good use of it.”

Madam Sun was explaining to Zhao Nuanyue the intimate matters of a woman’s boudoir, and Zhao Nuanyue benefited greatly from it. ‘So these wellness methods from the National Doctors have such wonderful effects!’ According to Madam Sun, this recipe was passed down from the Imperial Palace, and in the past, only the Imperial Concubines could use it.

Zhao Nuanyue gladly accepted Madam Sun’s kind intentions.

In the front courtyard, Sun Haoran was also explaining the matters between men and women to Hua Yusen, overtly and covertly telling him to cherish Zhao Nuanyue.

Hua Yusen, who wouldn’t even fluster in a crisis or in front of a large crowd, was actually made to feel embarrassed by Sun Haoran’s words.
