Sweet Rebirth: The Little Healer

When the Little Red Carp saw how easily Nuan Yang accepted practicing Martial Arts, unlike his sister who had asked endless questions, she was delighted. ”Brother,” she asked, ”do you like practicing Martial Arts this much? I thought painting was your favorite.”

”Yeah, that’s right. Painting is my favorite,” Zhao Nuan Yang replied. ”As for Martial Arts... I can’t say I love it. But if I practice and get really strong, then if Hua Yusen ever bullies my sister in the future, I can give him a good beating and stand up for her.”

”Huh?” The Little Red Carp was stunned for a moment, then her eyes lit up. ”Brother, that’s an excellent idea! Train hard, and you can definitely become stronger than your future brother-in-law.”

Hearing what Zhao Nuan Yang and the Little Red Carp said, Zhao Nuanyue didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

’So Zhao Nuan Yang’s motivation for practicing Martial Arts was to have my back!’

Still, Zhao Nuanyue was deeply touched. No matter what they did, her brother and sister always put her first.

The Little Red Carp carefully explained the techniques to Zhao Nuanyue and Zhao Nuan Yang, demonstrating with her own chubby little body. Because her body had been enhanced by the Dragon Scale, Zhao Nuanyue learned with great ease. Zhao Nuan Yang wasn’t as quick as she was, but his concentration was on a level she couldn’t match.

In just a single day, they had learned a third of the content in the two books.

Though they were exhausted and drenched in sweat, Zhao Nuanyue and Zhao Nuan Yang felt incredibly invigorated, as if they had received enlightenment from a celestial being, and a new sense of understanding dawned in their minds.

In a way, it really was enlightenment from a celestial being. These were books the Old Dragon King had once read, and they still bore his traces. Furthermore, the Little Red Carp had modified and improved them, making them even more suitable for their learning. By cultivating both internally and externally, they achieved twice the results with half the effort!

Zhao Nuanyue had been feeling down from missing Hua Yusen and regretful about their canceled wedding, but now that she was learning Martial Arts with the Little Red Carp, her schedule was demanding. She had to be up at four in the morning, make breakfast and eat at seven, then one would go to work and the other to school. After coming home in the evening, they had to continue their training.

Her days were incredibly busy and fulfilling, which diluted the feelings of loss and longing in Zhao Nuanyue’s heart. Her spirits were exceptionally high.

Zhao Nuanyue’s steps were much lighter than before, her complexion was excellent, and her mood had improved even more.

When Sun Haoran came over to hold his clinic hours, he was rather surprised to see his disciple looking so radiant.

”Nuanyue, how have your studies been going lately?” Sun Haoran asked. He wanted to ask this prized disciple of his why she seemed so happy.

’Her wedding was canceled; any other young woman would have been crying her eyes out. Yet this disciple of his was acting as if nothing had happened at all.’

Seeing her master speak to her, Zhao Nuanyue beamed, her eyes crinkling into crescents. She smiled sweetly and said, ”Master, my pulse-taking Power has grown a lot recently. It’s become very accurate. Senior Brother Tang says I’ve already surpassed him.”

Ever since she started practicing Martial Arts, not only had her five senses sharpened, but Zhao Nuanyue also found that her knowledge of acupoints had become second nature. When taking a pulse, she could accurately perceive its rhythm and make different diagnoses based on the different pulse patterns.

This was a crucial skill for a National Doctor.

As for prescriptions and medicinal herbs, Zhao Nuanyue had already memorized them thoroughly. Through constant practice, she learned to apply her knowledge flexibly, and her medical skills progressed rapidly. Even Tang Kai Xuan was very surprised, constantly saying there was nothing left for him to teach Zhao Nuanyue.

Hearing Zhao Nuanyue’s words, Sun Haoran forgot all about his earlier intention to ask her why she was so happy and instead began to quiz her on her lessons.

Conveniently, there was a patient right in front of them. Sun Haoran said, ”You examine this patient, then tell me your findings.”

Zhao Nuanyue first observed the patient’s complexion, then the coating on her tongue, and finally took her pulse. She could clearly perceive the patient’s pulse characteristics, and after asking the woman a few questions about her condition, she quickly arrived at the correct diagnosis.

Sun Haoran was astonished. He had just examined this patient himself, and the conclusion he had reached was exactly the same as Zhao Nuanyue’s.

This was a woman suffering from infertility due to a hormonal imbalance caused by a deficiency in both qi and blood... When he looked at the prescription Zhao Nuanyue had written, he was astonished all over again. After the woman left, Sun Haoran nodded and said, ”Nuanyue, your medical skills are improving so rapidly. No wonder Kai Xuan says he has nothing left to teach you. If you keep up this pace, in a year or two, I might not have anything left to teach you either.”

”Master, you flatter me,” Zhao Nuanyue said humbly. ”I have a good memory and a decent aptitude, but what I lack is experience. Furthermore, as medicine develops, Western medicine has many merits that I also want to learn. After I master Chinese medicine, I will choose to study Western medicine. I believe that in the future, many cases will be treated more effectively through an integration of Chinese and Western medicine.”

Hearing Zhao Nuanyue say this, Sun Haoran didn’t, just because he was a National Doctor, believe that Chinese medicine was superior. On the contrary, he thought Zhao Nuanyue had a point. For Western medicine to be flourishing worldwide, it must have its own merits.

It was just that the country was currently closed off, so there was no access to advanced medicine from the outside world. But since returning to Jincheng City, Sun Haoran had been using his various connections to learn about the development of foreign medicine and speculate on future trends.

”Yes, it’s good that you think that way,” Sun Haoran nodded. ”When the time comes, you can enroll in medical school to receive a systematic education.”

Relieved that her master wasn’t angry, Zhao Nuanyue asked, ”Master, I heard from Yu Sen that Elder Gu is already working on this matter.”

Sun Haoran nodded. ”Yes, I’m looking forward to it as well. Who knows, maybe I’ll end up teaching at the school!”

Previously, whenever Gu Qingyu had free time, he would always chat with Sun Haoran about these matters. Gu Qingyu had even told Sun Haoran back then that he should teach more students.
