Sweet Rebirth: The Little Healer

When Wang Yuan saw what Guo Donghai was handing her, her eyes lit up and she broke into a wide smile.

”I love it. I love it so much! Thank you.” After Guo Donghai’s persistent advances, Wang Yuan had agreed to date him. Not only had he arranged a comfortable job transfer for her, but she also enjoyed a relaxed daily schedule and a high salary.

Guo Donghai often showered Wang Yuan with exquisite gifts and beautiful clothes, which she adored. As a result, she willfully ignored the fact that he was already married.

”I’m glad you like it. Seeing you smile really makes my day,” Guo Donghai said with a laugh.

”What’s wrong? Is something troubling you? I may not be able to help, but you can tell me about it. I’ll be a good listener, and I’ll keep it a secret.” Wang Yuan reached out to smooth his furrowed brow as she spoke.

Hearing her words, a small smile appeared on Guo Donghai’s face. He reached out, took her hand, and said, ”It’s actually related to my sister. Zhao Nuanyue has been up to something again recently, and it’s made my sister furious. She’s insisting on getting revenge, but I promised you before that I wouldn’t force you to do anything, so I’m in a tough spot.”

When Wang Yuan heard this, she understood what was happening.

”What did Zhao Nuanyue do to your sister? Why is she so angry?” Wang Yuan also wanted to find out more about Zhao Nuanyue. From her interactions with her, she only knew about Zhao Nuanyue’s daily life, not her private affairs.

”It’s not convenient for me to tell you. You know my sister has a violent and eccentric temper. If she found out I told you about her embarrassing situation, she would definitely throw a fit. She can’t do anything to me, but she’d make things difficult for you.” Guo Donghai was reluctant to say more, trying to placate Wang Yuan.

Seeing that Guo Donghai didn’t want to talk about it, Wang Yuan didn’t press him. She said softly, ”Since you’ve put it that way, of course I’ll help her for your sake. I won’t refuse.”

”I’m sorry to put you through this. I shouldn’t have brought it up. I’ll make it up to you in the future,” Guo Donghai apologized. It was rare for Wang Yuan to be so understanding and not put him in a difficult position. ”Continue giving Zhao Nuanyue the drug.”

”You’re so good to me, I don’t feel wronged at all,” Wang Yuan said with a smile, a blissful expression on her face.

Back at home, Wang Yuan retrieved the small porcelain bottle she had hidden deep inside her wardrobe.

’Even though that woman Guo Dongmei is detestable, Wang Yuan wasn’t about to let go of a powerful backer like Guo Donghai.’

’Even if she couldn’t become Guo Donghai’s wife, she had to become an indispensable woman in his life. If she could give him a child, they would have a lifelong tie, and he would never be able to abandon her.’

What Wang Yuan didn’t understand was that in the eyes of these scions from prestigious families, as long as there was a benefit, as long as it was advantageous, there was nothing that couldn’t be sacrificed.

In August, osmanthus flowers bloomed everywhere. Osmanthus Cakes made during this season were the most popular pastry, and the people of Jincheng City all loved to eat them.

So, on the weekend, Wang Yuan brought a few boxes of Osmanthus Cakes to see Zhao Nuanyue.

’The Osmanthus Cakes were delicious, and Zhao Nuanyue would surely serve them to everyone. Wang Yuan would have to eat them too, so she didn’t dare to put the drug in the cakes.’

’Anyway, if she visited a few more times, she was bound to find an opportunity.’

With her wedding date less than a month away, Zhao Nuanyue wasn’t going out idly. Aside from going out with her master’s wife to buy necessities for the wedding, she spent the rest of her time busy at home.

”Little Red Carp, I brought you some delicious Osmanthus Cakes! Come on out!” Wang Yuan’s voice arrived before she did, and she sounded like she was in a great mood.

Little Red Carp was playing with her older brother. Hearing Wang Yuan’s voice, she felt a wave of annoyance. ’She didn’t want to play with someone who was deliberately scheming to harm her sister.’

’But her sister hadn’t exposed this person’s hypocrisy yet, so she could only play along and pretend to be friendly with Wang Yuan.’

Zhao Nuanyue was sewing a quilt. When she heard Wang Yuan’s voice, she gave Little Red Carp a look, signaling for her to go greet their guest.

”Coming, coming! Ms. Yuan, what delicious treat did you bring for me?” Little Red Carp put down her toy, stood up, and walked toward the door.

Wang Yuan brought the pastry box out from behind her back and said with a smile, ”Guess!”

Little Red Carp had a very keen sense of smell and quickly identified the pastries inside the box as her favorite Osmanthus Cakes.

”Oh my gosh, it’s my favorite Osmanthus Cakes! Thank you, Ms. Yuan!” Little Red Carp chirped with a laugh. But as she got closer to Wang Yuan, she suddenly felt a wave of evil energy wash over her.

’She had experienced this feeling once before, back in Nianqiao Village. It was the time Guo Dongmei gave Wang Yuan a bottle of poison and told her to drug Gu Qingyu.’

’Oh no, Wang Yuan was going to drug her sister again.’

’She had thought this woman had turned over a new leaf and stopped doing bad things. She never expected that just as they were about to let their guard down, she would come back to try and drug them again.’

’But what kind of drug was it this time?’

’Little Red Carp hadn’t seen the drug, so she couldn’t determine its properties yet.’

Seeing Little Red Carp just standing there instead of rushing over like she usually did, Wang Yuan found it a bit strange and quickly asked with curiosity, ”Little Red Carp, what’s wrong?”

Little Red Carp quickly snapped out of it, not wanting to make Wang Yuan suspicious. She said with a chuckle, ”I was just trying to guess what kind of pastry it is!”

”Haha, no need to guess. We can eat them right now.” Wang Yuan led Little Red Carp to the stone table and opened the box. ”These are the Osmanthus Cakes from the Eight Treasures Pavilion, the most famous time-honored pastry shop in Jincheng City. It’s August, when the osmanthus flowers are in bloom, so it’s the perfect time to eat this kind of pastry.”

”Wow, these Osmanthus Cakes are so beautiful! They look delicious just by looking at them, and they smell even better.” Little Red Carp saw the osmanthus flowers mixed into the cakes, and their elegant shapes made her exclaim in admiration.

”Yes, they’re worthy of being from Jincheng City’s most famous time-honored shop. Their pastries are truly in a class of their own.” Zhao Nuanyue put down what she was holding, glanced at the exquisite cakes with praise, and then went inside to pour some tea to serve Wang Yuan.
