The Interstellar Queen of Scavengers

Chapter 1718: Chapter 1718: Kindred

At first, Ji You didn’t pay much attention because everything around her was shaking, as if the whole world was turning upside down, making her feel like a dried leaf in the vast ocean, only able to drift with the waves...

She strived to stabilize herself and secure several important pieces of equipment in the experiment cabin...

Just then, Ji You felt her Mechanical Space Button also shaking a little. She didn’t think much of it and stuffed it into her pocket, preparing to continue contemplating how to break down this piece of material. But then, the Space Button started shaking more violently...

What’s this—

Is the Little Golden Dragon getting impatient?

Ji You frowned slightly.

Before entering the space rift, the conversation between Little Golden Dragon and Teacher Mu had left Ji You worried. Therefore, she had a negotiation with Little Golden Dragon where she agreed to bring him into the space rift to find the repairman’s burial ground. But until then, Little Golden Dragon must not act on his own and must listen to her completely.

Moreover—

Teacher Mu said that bringing Little Golden Dragon into the space rift would be harmful rather than beneficial. Worried about this, Ji You decided to keep Little Golden Dragon obediently inside the Mecha Space Button at all times.

Little Golden Dragon was sensible and never caused any trouble.

Even during several crises before, which had life-threatening dangers, Little Golden Dragon stayed calm, especially adhering to his agreement with Ji You.

What’s happening now?

Ji You was slightly puzzled. She thought for a moment and raised her hand to gently pat the Space Button, signaling Little Golden Dragon to calm down.

However, Little Golden Dragon was completely unimpressed and instead started to bounce even more vigorously.

The entire Space Button was shaken up by him, swinging like a pendulum as it danced around Ji You’s neck.

The Space Button is a sealed, independent space, and as long as Ji You doesn’t open it, Little Golden Dragon can’t perceive what’s happening outside. Ji You frowned slightly, unable to understand why he suddenly reacted so fiercely, but clearly, something must have happened, and after a brief thought, Ji You raised her hand and decisively opened the Space Button.

People are living, but rules are dead.

In special circumstances, breaking an agreement is justified.

Once the permissions had been lifted, a skinny golden dragon crawled out of the Space Button, raising its head to meet Ji You’s eyes.

Before Little Golden Dragon could speak, its golden vertical pupils suddenly narrowed. In the next second, amid the violent shaking that almost flung him out, Little Golden Dragon’s tail curled around Ji You’s collar button, and then—

He climbed further up, reaching Ji You’s head in an instant, clutching a strand of her hair to stabilize himself:

”Oh crap!”

”Woman! What are you doing?”

”Is this how you welcome Lord Heavenly Dog’s return?”

With the surprise, shock, and a touch of shame of a neglected overbearing CEO, Ji You found his words headache-inducing and said, ”Just get down and stay put. I don’t have time to fuss over you.”

Upon hearing this, Little Golden Dragon became immediately displeased, looking sulky, and his tail lashed out at Ji You’s head, saying, ”Woman! You... how dare you treat me like this! Also—”

Because the surroundings were shaking so intensely, it was impossible to stabilize oneself, Little Golden Dragon’s claws stepped on Ji You’s head a few times before finally stabilizing himself again, his face shocked as he asked, ”Where on earth is this? Space roller coaster? Are we in an amusement park?”

Through the window, he saw one compartment after another, each one shaking...

Ji You grabbed Little Golden Dragon off her head and said, ”Wake up a bit, it’s not an amusement park, but we’ve been trapped in a pigsty.”

Little Golden Dragon: ”What?!!”

”How dare you!”

”Who dares mess with Lord Heavenly Dog, be careful or I’ll... I’ll...” For a moment, Little Golden Dragon found himself at a loss for words.

After re-securing the experimental equipment, Ji You asked, ”What’s gotten into you, suddenly causing a fuss, weren’t you always behaving well and sticking around?”

Upon hearing her question, Little Golden Dragon felt aggrieved, saying, ”You women never feel sorry for me. I’ve been locked up for so long and you’ve been ignoring me.”

Ji You: ”...”

Feeling sulky now?

Ji You, speechless, said, ”How have I not cared for you? If I didn’t care, would I have brought you in here?”

Little Golden Dragon sulkily pouted and said, ”You never glance at me, don’t even talk to me, you... you...”

Rumble~

Another intense bout of shaking occurred, as though the entire world was being tossed into an earthquake.

Ji You grabbed a broken pipeline fragment and quickly replaced it. Little Golden Dragon stopped sulking and hurriedly stepped aside to help Ji You.

After quite a while, they both finally stopped, scrambling to catch their breath.

Ji You frowned. In such an environment, she couldn’t break down the piece of material at all.

Then—

The disoriented Little Golden Dragon finally snapped back to reality and said, ”Woman, do you know why I suddenly started making a scene?”

To keep Little Golden Dragon from growing bored, tired, and feeling lonely while being confined to the Space Button, Ji You had turned off some of his programs, putting him into a dormant state. Only in very special cases, such as the death of the master, could he be forcibly awakened.

This was also why Ji You hadn’t noticed Little Golden Dragon’s movements at the start.

But how did this guy suddenly wake up?

By rights, Ji You herself should have needed to wake him up.

Little Golden Dragon looked at Ji You’s expression and knew what she was wondering, he snorted slightly and said, ”Woman, you don’t care about me at all, you just want to leave me in the Space Button indefinitely, isn’t it?”

Ji You: ”...”

Ji You raised her hand, rubbing her temples, and said, ”Speak properly.”

”Hmph~” Little Golden Dragon turned around, showing Ji You his backside, and said, ”I actually felt a tiny bit of strange fluctuations, suddenly waking me up.”

Ji You: ”???”

Little Golden Dragon tilted his head, trying hard to explain in a way Ji You could understand and said, ”It’s like smelling a similar kind, so I suddenly woke up.”

Ji You’s fingers twitched slightly: ”What? Similar kind?”

Little Golden Dragon snorted and said, ”Of course, I think this feeling must be wrong! I, Lord Heavenly Dog, am the unique mecha in the Universe, certainly can’t have any kindred! Absolutely impossible! So this feeling must be wrong.”

Speaking, Little Golden Dragon jumped on Ji You’s shoulder, found a more comfortable standing position, and again faced Ji You with his backside, saying, ”Anyway, the feeling is very strange. You don’t need to pay it any mind. What matters is, you need to know that Lord Heavenly Dog is back in the Jianghu! From now on, let Lord Heavenly Dog lead you to conquer the starry sky and defeat all enemies.”

If it wasn’t such a strange circumstance, Ji You would have been reluctant to engage with this overly imaginative mecha. After pausing for serious thought, she asked, ”The thing that makes you feel like kindred, is it due to the other’s spiritual fluctuations, or something else?”
