The Interstellar Queen of Scavengers

Chapter 1536: Chapter 1536: Teacher Mu’s Gossip

But—

When facing danger, isn’t the first thing to do to unite with the mecha and resist danger together?

Why did the repairman shut down Little Golden Dragon?

Little Golden Dragon is a biological mecha, the only one in the world comparable to a 21st-century ’nuclear weapon.’ Owning it is equivalent to securing life, so why did the repairman give up using Little Golden Dragon and choose to face danger alone?

The only explanation is that the repairman knew he would die. His death might even allow Little Golden Dragon to fall into the hands of those with malicious intent, hence he shut it down.

Ji You has no doubt that the current battered state of Little Golden Dragon’s body was likely the work of the repairman.

Little Golden Dragon was created by his own hands, it’s his mecha, his weapon, and also his—child.

Before dying, leaving a glimmer of hope for his pure, innocent, and cute child, indeed aligns with the repairman’s actions.

If it were her, she might do the same.

Therefore, to find a way to repair Little Golden Dragon, one might actually need to go to the Space Rift, which is— the repairman’s burial ground.

Why doesn’t Teacher Mu want Little Golden Dragon to go there?

Does she not want Little Golden Dragon to recover?

Impossible.

If Teacher Mu truly didn’t want to repair Little Golden Dragon, she wouldn’t have handed it over to Ji You in the first place. Giving it to Ji You wasn’t just to have Ji You raise a pet.

The only explanation is that if Little Golden Dragon goes to the Space Rift, it might encounter real danger beyond Mu Jianling’s control.

What is this danger beyond Teacher Mu’s control?

Now, it seems the most likely scenario is Little Golden Dragon completely shattering, dying without a trace, and even its death might implicate her.

Ji You thinks this, but she doesn’t tell Little Golden Dragon her suspicions, to avoid burdening the mecha’s stupid circuits. She thinks for a moment and then asks Little Golden Dragon casually, ”Why did you and the repairman enter the Space Rift?”

Little Golden Dragon tilts its head, thinks for a while, seems to think for a long time but can’t figure it out, and says, ”I feel like this memory might have been deleted.”

Ji You: ”Feel?”

Little Golden Dragon steadies itself and says, ”No, it’s definitely been deleted.”

Ji You’s heart sinks.

Deleted?

Who did it? The repairman, Teacher Mu, or someone else?

Ahead is a fog, and a slight oversight could trap her inside, unable to escape. Rationality tells Ji You to stay away completely.

But emotionally, she can’t do it.

Ah!

Ji You exhales heavily, looking at Little Golden Dragon helplessly, saying, ”You useless mecha, always failing at critical moments, what’s the point of having you? Might as well buy a barbecued pork instead.”

Little Golden Dragon was initially quite anxious and guilt-ridden, but after hearing this, it bristled, ”Woman, show some respect, don’t think that saying this will make me forgive you. I am Lord Heavenly Dog, how can I be compared to a piece of barbecued pork? This is an insult, a blatant insult!”

Ji You ignores the mecha’s protest and continues asking, ”Do you remember how the repairman behaved before entering the Space Rift? Try to be specific.”

Upon hearing this, Little Golden Dragon calms down and then tilts its head to think carefully.

A few seconds later.

Little Golden Dragon says, ”The day before, he ate, slept, researched mecha, went to the bathroom 12 times in one night. I suspected he had a prostate issue based on these observations, and he gave me a harsh beating and locked me up overnight. On the morning of entering the Space Rift, he took me out of the Space Button and said he wanted to take me to see the peach blossoms as it was spring and the peach blossoms on Lanyue Star were blooming... I didn’t want to go, but the repairman dragged me there.”

”See peach blossoms?” Ji You looks bewildered, ”Why see peach blossoms? Do you like peach blossoms, or does he like peach blossoms?”

Little Golden Dragon quickly distances itself, saying, ”I don’t like them! Such girly things, why would a mecha like them?”

Seeing Ji You’s confusion, Little Golden Dragon clarifies, ”I really don’t like them, the repairman doesn’t either. We both are always in the lab or out hunting Star Beasts, where’s the time for hobbies with flowers and plants?”

Ji You asks, ”Then who likes them?”

”I told you, neither of us likes them...” Just as the words leave its mouth, Little Golden Dragon suddenly pauses, as if recalling something, and stops.

Ji You asks, ”Who?”

Little Golden Dragon says, ”Teacher Mu likes them.”

Ji You: ”???”

Little Golden Dragon seems a bit uncertain, ”I’m not too sure. I vaguely remember the repairman mentioning once that after sending many flowers to Teacher Mu, he found out the one she liked most was peach blossoms, because she only accepted the peach blossoms. He said he planned to gather all those peach blossoms to make Teacher Mu happy... but hadn’t started yet when Teacher Mu suddenly appeared...”

Ji You raises her hand quickly and says, ”Wait, don’t say anything. I want to think quietly.”

She feels she shouldn’t ask any further. Asking could risk gossiping about Teacher Mu’s love life, and if she finds out, would Ji You’s skin be enough for Teacher Mu to make a ball to play with?

Shivering all over, Ji You shakes off goosebumps, then says, ”Go on.”

Little Golden Dragon glances at her, ”You still want to listen?” Even though you’re so scared...

Ji You puts on a serious face, ”I’m just listening, saying nothing, knowing nothing.”

Little Golden Dragon says, ”The peach blossoms weren’t picked, because Teacher Mu appeared and gave the repairman a peach blossom, which made the repairman almost lose himself.”

Ji You: ”!!!”

Old Lady Mu, that sharp-tongued and sinister old woman, actually had such a romantic gesture of giving flowers to someone, a man no less!

This—

Absolutely makes one—feel deep sympathy for that man.

Cough, cough...

Ji You reminds herself that she heard this gossip but will forget it in the next second, absolutely not keeping it in mind.

Talking about this, Little Golden Dragon also seems very disdainful, flicking its tail with an unimpressed look, ”I also told the repairman to have some spine. It’s just receiving a flower, what’s the big deal? If he wants it, I can pick countless ones from the mountain. Even if he wants the entire mountain’s peach blossoms, I could move the mountain for him. But he gave me a contemptuous look and said I don’t understand, this is a Love Flower, something a mecha can’t envy. Isn’t he asking for trouble?”

”...” Ji You: ”Certainly asking for trouble.”

Little Golden Dragon says, puffing with anger, ”What Love Flower, I think it’s just an ordinary lousy peach blossom. He even framed it like a treasure, made a small pendant, and hung it around his neck, saying he wants to wear it forever. Isn’t he dumb? No matter how well preserved, that flower will decay one day, it can’t possibly last forever.”
