The Interstellar Queen of Scavengers

Chapter 1528: Chapter 1528: Medium

Kong Zhe’s attitude turned serious. He wasn’t intending to be mysterious, but said, ”Because the medium she used is—”

Lin Feng’s eyes widened.

Kong Zhe reached out and pushed Lin Feng’s head, which had been leaning in too close, a bit away, and scolded, ”Why are you getting so close? Back off, back off.”

Lin Feng: ”...”

Lin Feng said speechlessly, ”Teacher, you do want to keep us in suspense.”

Kong Zhe glanced at him and said, ”Because the medium she used is spiritual power.”

Lin Feng: ”!!!”

Lin Feng’s eyes rounded instantly: ”Impossible!!! That’s absolutely impossible!”

Kong Zhe ignored his apprentice’s panicked outburst and with a touch of emotion in his voice, said, ”The state I’ve tirelessly pursued, I didn’t expect a child to accomplish it.”

Saying this, Kong Zhe was both amused, exasperated, and deeply disappointed...

Lin Feng finally snapped out of his disbelief, not paying attention to the last part of his teacher’s words. Although he heard it, his brain wasn’t processing it, so he only vaguely listened and ignored it, remembering only the first part of his teacher’s words. Lin Feng tried hard to close his gaping mouth, worked to calm his voice, and said, ”Teacher... How can spiritual power be used as a medium? How is that possible? It’s just not possible. Spiritual power is just a medium for connecting the array diagram and the medium, to combine the two and create a special magnetic field effect, which is of great benefit to the spiritual power of the human body...”

Lin Feng, with his mouth agape and looking somewhat in a daze, continued, ”How can spiritual power be used as a medium? Spiritual power is intangible, how can it become a medium? I can’t figure it out, I really can’t figure it out ah ah ah!!! Teacher...”

He turned to Kong Zhe, looking at the most powerful Artifact Maker in the soul artifact crafting world.

Kong Zhe did not respond.

Silence.

In the air, only a thing called silence remained.

After a while, Lin Feng said, ”Teacher, it can’t be spiritual power, right? I clearly observed that the base plate used in the array diagram carved by the Green Glaze Master was obviously a very cheap Companion Stone slice. A slice less than 1mm thick, it should be this material used as the medium.”

”Teacher...”

”Teacher...”

”Alright already.” Kong Zhe covered his ears, saying with disdain, ”My ears have grown calluses.”

Lin Feng stared at him steadily: ”Teacher!”

Kong Zhe waved his hand, saying, ”Look at you, wasting your potential, it’s because you always limit your thinking within these set frameworks that your skills are so poor. How long has it been since others’ apprentices can already make mid-level soul devices, and you’re still playing with mud at the village entrance? Do you think you’re doing right by me?”

Lin Feng: ”...”

Lin Feng lowered his head: ”I wasn’t playing with mud, I’m making low-level soul artifacts. Besides, my output is much higher than Ding Miao’s. It takes her three years to make one mid-level soul device, only one low-level soul artifact a year, while I can make over 30 low-level soul artifacts a year, doesn’t that mean I’m better than her?” Ding Miao is Master Deng Mingguang’s student. Although Deng Mingguang is from the Galaxy Empire, he and Kong Zhe are both major figures in the soul artifact manufacturing world; they have a very good relationship and frequently exchange and discuss techniques, so the students of both also keep in contact.

Although the teacher didn’t mention whose student was Ding Miao, Lin Feng knew right away he was referring to her, because among the new generation of soul artifact apprentices, only she had created a mid-level soul device.

Kong Zhe saw he was really feeling wronged and sighed, saying, ”High output is your only achievement.”

Lin Feng: ”...”

Lin Feng whispered, ”My quality is high too. You don’t know that my soul artifacts hardly ever have any after-sales problems once they’re sold, and there are many people in line waiting for me to make new soul devices. My orders are booked 10 years in advance.”

”Making low-level soul artifacts 10 years from now—” Kong Zhe clicked his tongue and glanced at him, ”Is this something to be proud of?”

Lin Feng: ”...”

Kong Zhe raised his hand, interrupting his rambling, and said, ”Spiritual power is not unable to become a medium. You can’t do it only because your spiritual power is too weak.”

Lin Feng: ”!!!”

Seeing his teacher about to explain to him, Lin Feng quickly shook off his inner frustration and listened very seriously.

Kong Zhe, with his hands behind his back, looked at the starry sky before him and said, ”Using spiritual power as a medium to create a soul artifact, it can traverse space and distance, covering more people. Once it succeeds, it will surely be inexpensive, and it will definitely benefit more people. I once had such a notion and was committed to countless actions, but without exception, all failed. Over the years, I have already given up.”

Lin Feng froze upon hearing this, looking at Kong Zhe in great shock, saying, ”Teacher... but, while I studied in your lab, I never saw you have related research.” The teacher’s numerous research notes and laboratory records are all provided gratuitously for students to reference and learn from. Lin Feng is certain he hadn’t ever seen any research in this area.

Kong Zhe tilted his head and asked, ”How long have you been in my lab?”

Lin Feng knew this for sure and remembered it very clearly. He said with certainty, ”15 years, 3 months, and 5 days.”

Kong Zhe replied, ”Oh, I gave up 20 years ago, instead, I switched to studying the relationship between materials processing and soul artifact manufacturing.” Since he couldn’t use spiritual power as a medium himself, it was to reduce costs so that more people could benefit, 20 years ago, Kong Zhe began studying how to reduce the material used as a medium for making soul artifacts. Generally, materials used as a medium must be expensive, rare Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures, but what if cheap materials were used?

Using cheap, readily available materials is theoretically feasible, thus significantly lowering the cost of soul artifact manufacturing, which is also a strategy.

Thus, to this day, Kong Zhe continues to research and has also made some progress.

Hearing the teacher’s words, Lin Feng was shocked.

Kong Zhe said, ”This is clearly a wrong path. I don’t want you to walk down such a path, so I have gathered all the information in this area and put it away.”

lin Feng pondered for a moment and quickly asked, ”Teacher... can I now borrow your research data in this area?”

Kong Zhe waved his hand, replied, ”No need.”

Lin Feng was taken aback.

Kong Zhe said, ”There’s a better way now. Why follow the same wrong path from me?”

”...” Lin Feng paused momentarily, then without a second thought said, ”I can look for the reasons for errors from your wrong path to avoid making the same mistakes myself.”

With a loud ”snap,” Kong Zhe unceremoniously knocked on his head and scolded, ”Rascal, where did your teacher make a mistake? Your teacher has been clever and powerful all his life, never made any mistakes. The reason I didn’t succeed was merely not finding the proper way to use spiritual power.”

Lin Feng tilted his head: ”Huh?”
