The first sign of change was subtle.

Tanaka almost missed it.

It happened during the morning patrol when a young slime, no larger than the little slime had once been, effortlessly carried a stone twice its own size across the central square.

Several months ago, that would have been impossible.

Now...

The slime bounced happily toward the construction site as though it were carrying nothing more than a leaf.

Tanaka smiled.

”You’ve gotten stronger.”

The young slime practically vibrated with pride before hurrying back to work.

It wasn’t alone.

Over the past year, every resident of the settlement had changed.

Not just in strength.

In presence.

The wolves moved with greater confidence.

The rabbits no longer startled at every unfamiliar sound.

The goblins had traded crude wooden huts for sturdy stone workshops.

Even the air itself felt richer.

Mana flowed through the town like an invisible river.

The Dungeon Core had quietly transformed everything.

Later that morning, Tanaka stood before his Soul Record.

He studied it quietly.

Two years.

It felt impossible.

Two years ago, he had been a nameless slime struggling to survive a rabbit.

Now...

He led hundreds.

Yet something bothered him.

His evolution had slowed.

Far slower than before.

He hadn’t reached a wall.

But each improvement demanded far more effort than the last.

”Growth is becoming difficult...”

The thought lingered.

Maybe...

That was natural.

The answer came sooner than expected.

The Alpha Wolf requested a meeting.

When Tanaka arrived at the training grounds, nearly every wolf had gathered.

The Alpha stepped forward.

His crimson fur shimmered faintly beneath the afternoon sun.

It hadn’t always.

His body had become larger.

Leaner.

His claws longer.

His eyes sharper.

”Great One.”

”Something is happening.”

Tanaka immediately noticed it.

Mana.

The Alpha’s Magic Core pulsed far more strongly than before.

”Show me.”

The Alpha nodded.

Without warning, he dashed forward.

The watching wolves barely followed.

He crossed the entire training field in a blur before leaping effortlessly onto a twenty-meter cliff.

The impact barely disturbed the stone.

He landed silently.

The younger wolves erupted into excited howls.

Tanaka’s eyes widened.

”That’s...”

Far faster than before.

The Alpha returned.

”Every day...”

”I become stronger.”

”Not through training.”

”Through living here.”

Tanaka froze.

The Dungeon.

The Core.

The territory.

It wasn’t just empowering him.

It was nurturing everyone.

That discovery led to weeks of observation.

Tanaka visited every district personally.

The goblins demonstrated new forging techniques impossible a year ago.

Rabbit healers cultivated herbs that had never existed before.

The moss turtles carried stone blocks heavier than entire buildings.

Even the slimes...

Were changing.

Some had become denser.

Others moved astonishingly fast.

Several naturally developed stronger acidic bodies.

No two slimes evolved in exactly the same direction.

Tanaka found that fascinating.

”So evolution isn’t identical.”

”It’s influenced by environment...”

”Experience...”

”Perhaps even personality.”

The little slime proved the theory.

It bounced into the training grounds carrying an enormous mushroom almost twice its size.

Nobody had asked it to.

It simply wanted to help.

Tanaka laughed.

”You’ve become incredibly strong.”

The little slime proudly puffed itself up.

Then...

Its body briefly shimmered.

Only for a second.

Blue light danced beneath its transparent surface before fading away.

Tanaka immediately activated Mana Sense.

There.

A change.

Tiny.

Almost impossible to notice.

Its Magic Core had grown.

Not much.

But enough.

The little slime was evolving.

Not today.

Not tomorrow.

But its path had begun.

Tanaka smiled warmly.

”Keep growing.”

”We’ll walk that road together.”

The tiny slime answered with an enthusiastic bounce that sent everyone nearby laughing.

That evening, another surprise arrived.

One of the elderly goblins approached the Crystal Tree carrying an old iron hammer.

Tanaka watched curiously.

The goblin closed his eyes.

Placed both hands upon the tool.

Mana flowed naturally from his body.

The worn hammer began glowing faintly.

Its rough surface smoothed.

Tiny cracks disappeared.

The iron became darker.

Stronger.

When the light faded...

The hammer looked completely different.

The surrounding goblins gasped.

”I didn’t...”

”I don’t know how...”

The blacksmith stared at his own creation.

Tanaka stepped closer.

Mana still lingered around the weapon.

Not enchantment.

Evolution.

The tool itself had improved.

The Dungeon Core wasn’t merely strengthening living creatures.

It was slowly affecting objects connected to them.

The implications were enormous.

Over the following month, similar events became common.

Leather armor became tougher without being replaced.

Stone walls grew denser.

Medicinal herbs developed stronger effects.

Even the roads seemed strangely resistant to erosion.

The settlement itself...

Was evolving.

That night, Tanaka gathered every leader beneath the Crystal Tree.

The Alpha Wolf.

The Rabbit Leader.

The Goblin Elder.

Even the oldest moss turtle slowly arrived, earning patient smiles from everyone.

Tanaka spoke through the telepathic network.

”We’ve all changed.”

Agreement echoed back.

”The Dungeon Core has become the heart of our home.”

”Its mana nourishes every one of us.”

”But it also means something else.”

Everyone listened.

”If our territory continues growing...”

”Stronger beings will eventually notice.”

The Alpha finally stepped forward.

”Then we continue growing stronger.”

The wolves answered immediately.

The rabbits nodded.

The goblins raised their hammers.

Even the slimes bounced enthusiastically.

Fear existed.

But it no longer ruled them.

They had something worth protecting.

Home.

Later, Tanaka sat alone atop the watchtower.

The little slime rested comfortably beside him.

Below, lights glowed throughout the growing town.

Children played.

Craftsmen worked.

Patrols changed shifts.

Everything felt peaceful.

Yet...

His instincts wouldn’t settle.

He looked toward the northern mountains.

Mana.

A tremendous amount of it.

Far beyond his current senses.

Tanaka slowly exhaled.

”There are monsters out there...”

”...far stronger than us.”

The little slime leaned gently against him.

He smiled.

”But that’s alright.”

”If they’re stronger...”

”We’ll grow stronger too.”

His gaze remained fixed on the distant horizon.

He no longer dreamed of becoming stronger for his own sake.

Every improvement...

Every evolution...

Every new skill...

Was another brick in the future of the home they had built together.

”I wonder what comes next” Tanaka mused.
