Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 308: Chapter 221: Bait for Biting, Not for Eating_3

Only the wage deduction made her hesitate for a moment, but thinking back to her past self and the deceased woman, she still nodded.

Even if she could only do some insignificant things.

It was better than staying silent.

The soldiers around glanced over but didn’t care further. He Jie found excuses every day to belittle the mongoose, and if he found any fault, he wouldn’t hesitate to give a good beating.

But under He Jie’s high-intensity training, the mongoose not only didn’t collapse but became more resilient and courageous.

In the entire Armed Corps reserves, her evolutionary strength and combat power ranked among the top, almost catching up with those officers.

Moreover, the mongoose held grudges well, and if anyone dared to ridicule her, they would inevitably get a few cuts during the next training.

As for the ”little boyfriend” comment, it was best to treat it as wind past the ear. Words from He Jie’s mouth, other than commands, were best ignored.

Throughout the Armed Corps, apart from Yu Yue, Master Eight, and a few others, who hasn’t been scolded by He Jie?

From a distance, Li Han saw this scene, furiously clenching his fists, believing that it was because of him that the mongoose was humiliated.

”Boom—”

The iron boat started to launch.

Li Han also received a branch from a Crown Pear tree.

Thumb-thick and three meters long.

However, he also lost the opportunity to choose another piece of miscellaneous stuff.

After tying a rope on the train, Li Han jumped onto the iron boat with the branch. The small boat wobbled far more than the train deck, but compared to those who received rafts, he felt somewhat fortunate.

Those people jumped down only to be drenched like drowned rats.

Looking at his own iron boat, though narrow, it still had a place to put a quilt.

Placing the branch aside, Li Han looked at the nearby miscellaneous items.

Right now, his top priority was to figure out a way to settle his dinner.

One way was to search from the water surface or inside buildings, or find high-value items to exchange with the train.

Apart from food, various tools could also be exchanged, and even ship expansion services could be redeemed.

As long as there were enough points, it was possible to build the small boat into a floating fortress.

Soon, Li Han encountered his first problem.

The nearest floating objects were more than ten meters away. What could he use to reach them?

At that moment, the Armed train behind him began to move, the rope pulling his small boat closer to the floating objects.

...

”Starting with a boat, everything depends on salvaging.”

”In the flood apocalypse, I rely on a small raft to survive arduously.”

”Which one is more apt?”

Su Huan stood on the top of the right side compartment of the train, looking at the survivors falling like dumplings.

He Jie touched his buzz cut, ”There’s something, but why are you up so early, Chief?”

Su Huan gave him a half-smile glance, sighing, ”If it weren’t for Major General He’s impassioned voice waking me up, I might have stayed in bed for a few more hours, especially since I just fell asleep in the morning.”

He Jie awkwardly chuckled, not responding to the topic.

”Are we going to Xiushui City next?”

”No.” Su Huan shook his head, ”First, gather all the survivors from Guan Chong City.”

He Jie was momentarily stunned, looking at the survivors below, then turned his puzzled gaze to Su Huan, ”Using them as bait? They’d all be dead in no time?”

No matter what it was, given Su Huan’s personality, it couldn’t possibly be an act of charity.

”Bait?”

”That’s right, but I don’t like making unprofitable deals. The bait is for the fish to see, not to eat.”

Just as he finished speaking, a large fish over two meters long leapt out from the water, capsizing a small iron boat as it surfaced.

Su Huan sneered, eyes flashing with electricity.

A thick bolt of lightning shot from his fingertips, piercing the air and hitting the fish.

With a crackling explosion, the stunned fish fell back into the water.

The people who fell into the water cried for help desperately, as nearby small boats gathered for rescue.

The minor incident caused quite a commotion.

He Jie sucked his teeth, ”Protecting so many people, that’s quite a task.”

Su Huan waved his hand, ”Leave it to you.”

He still needed to check out the design plans the factory manager and the others had rushed overnight.

Three days passed in a flash, as the train circled around Guan Chong City, rescuing over three thousand people and some supplies.

The most valuable among them was a helicopter on a rooftop, partially damaged and needing a period of repairs before it could be used.

There were also various metallic materials, such as copper cables, titanium alloys, and high-value metals like tungsten steel.

For the past few days, Xiaoba had been working overtime, producing thousands of small iron boats.

Now, besides the main body, the armed train was also accompanied by a dense array of small boats.

Like a big fish with a school of young.

Roaming tyrannically across Guan Chong City, they lured and killed countless zombies and mutant beasts.

Their harvest in evolutionary materials was also the greatest.

The price was almost exhausting He Jie.

Initially, with only two hundred survivors, it was manageable, with two Armed Corps soldiers assigned to one, and a hundred people on standby or dealing with emergencies.

After swelling to three thousand people, even He Jie didn’t have time to rest.

Every so often, a big creature would leap out.

Ordinary soldiers couldn’t handle them, so the officers had to step in, eventually even old Lao San’s combat group joined.

Over five hundred people fought day and night, and even the manufacturing group’s material collection couldn’t keep up.

Only after killing until today did it improve, as most threats in Guan Chong City were basically eliminated.

Though occasionally, some large fish would swim in from outside, emerging from the water.

He Jie hugged a heavy machine gun, sleeping directly on top of the train, sustaining himself with cigars, squinting his black-ringed eyes as he scanned the situation below.
