Armed Train in the Apocalypse

The entire area was illuminated in a fiery red by lightning and fire.

Only three Tier Two Zombies remained alive, having jumped onto the deck.

Looking at the fresh flesh and blood around them, they went completely berserk, their bodies charred black by the lightning fire, yet their actions remained fierce and swift, targeting the area with the most people. With a wild roar, they leaped up like a fish onto the deck, darting out swiftly.

Their four limbs unfolded like fins, leaving deep scratches on the ironwood deck.

If this thing slashes you, you’d be cut in half on the spot!

The soldiers at the forefront were terrified and frantically pulled the trigger.

The 7.62 bullets rained down on the zombie, but the Tier Two Zombie had long evolved with a corpse armor, immune to bullets of this caliber.

The firepower hands operating the heavy machine guns were unable to turn their guns in time.

Seeing the Tier Two Zombie about to charge into the soldiers, Su Huan, standing at the train’s front, merely watched coldly, showing no intention of moving.

”The Tier Two Water Ghost, extremely fast in water, can exert one hundred and twenty percent of its combat power. Its speed slows on land, but its combat power rivals that of a special armored vehicle...”

Shu Wei stood behind Su Huan, speaking softly.

The implication was obvious — if you don’t help, they might die.

”Boom——”

A loud, resounding noise came from the field.

The force controlling even caused the carriage to sway back and forth thrice.

A towering figure appeared before the many soldiers, like an iron wall blocking the charging Tier Two Water Ghost.

The non-slip combat boots left two black streaks on the ironwood floor.

Wide, dark green short sleeves stretched tight across his blocky muscles like a bodysuit.

Liang Kuan took a deep breath and planted his rear foot firmly, standing his ground on the slippery floor with a shield in hand.

The surrounding soldiers erupted into cheers like mountain torrents and tsunamis.

”Bang bang bang...”

The muffled sound of a heavy sniper echoed as blood burst from the Tier Two Water Ghost attempting to attack in front of the shield, the hardened corpse armor cracking open from the impact of a 12.7 sniper bullet.

The Water Ghost howled in pain at the sky, as an azure blue light pierced through its mouth, escaping into the sky behind.

Shu Wei looked over in amazement, seeing Yu Yue armed with a 1.8-meter-long sniper rifle in a half-crouched position at the left side of the train car door. With a charging backpack on her back, her long, slender eyes emitted a cold and relentless killing intent.

Such precise timing.

Looking at Yu Yue’s clean and swift actions, a hint of astonishment flickered in Shu Wei’s eyes.

Reassessing this normally warm and gentle woman.

Top-notch evolutionary abilities, able to sing, cook, possessing a delicate and gentle disposition with the warmth of an elder sister, and now showing such formidable combat proficiency and decisive judgment. Even as a woman herself, she couldn’t help but be moved.

Perhaps it was the guilt of coveting her man that fueled the unease.

Facing Yu Yue, she often felt a sense of inferiority.

In the field, most of the Water Ghost’s jaw had been shattered by the electromagnetic sniper rifle, but due to the angle, Yu Yue’s aim was slightly high, not harming other soldiers.

On the other side, two Water Ghosts were intercepted by Xiaoba and Yu Jing’s Mechanical Puppet, respectively.

Xiaoba, though unable to kill it, played on his home turf, freely summoning various metals.

During the train’s design, consideration was given to Xiaoba’s situation, incorporating numerous metal counterweights on the deck.

One purpose was to facilitate the train’s submersion, the other was to enable Xiaoba’s manipulation.

Interwoven metal spikes formed a circular fortress on the deck, trapping the Tier Two Water Ghost in the center.

The soldiers relied on the fortifications to fire at the Water Ghost in the center. Even as fierce as the Water Ghost was, it would take time to cut through the metal.

In Xiaoba’s hands, the metal behaved like clay, freely morphing, but its properties remained unchanged. Even during manipulation, it was still hard steel!

Coupled with He Jie’s personal participation in the siege, the death of this Water Ghost was only a matter of time.

The last Water Ghost engaged in a cut-and-thrust battle with Yu Jing’s Mechanical Puppet on the deck.

And it was purely an offensive contest.

Two non-human figures, both two meters high, one wielding a two-meter-long blade, the other with half-meter-long fin blades on all four limbs, wildly struck at each other, sparks flying.

Lin Jin stood nearby, occasionally using his ”High Temperature Shield” to bounce the Water Ghost back as it tried to switch targets.

Though there was a level difference, fire inflicted additional damage on the Water Ghost, coordinating with a fearless Tier Two Puppet to evenly match the fight.

Despite the underwater period showing little improvement for most, Lin Jin and Su Huan were exceptions.

After ”Flame Control” reached level four, even Su Huan, with his high-temperature energy resistance, didn’t dare touch it.

Melting gold and liquefying iron was no problem.

”The delivery of materials has arrived again,” Su Huan remarked indifferently.

A significant number of Tier One Water Ghosts emerged from the water, but this time he had no intention of taking action.

He let them fall onto the deck.

The armed soldiers in combat, under the officer’s command, quickly split into squads, encircling and slaughtering the Tier One Water Ghosts on the deck.

Especially the snipers, who seemed powerless against the fast-moving Tier Two Water Ghosts.

But taking down these ordinary Water Ghosts was like shooting fish in a barrel.

A single 12.7mm bullet could tear through them, not only when hit in the head but even shots to the body shattered them.

Tier One Zombies lacked corpse armor.

This was the snipers’ strong suit, able to swiftly eliminate the enemy’s vital forces.

”If it were Black Kite’s original twelve-man squad, how long would it take to eliminate these Water Ghosts?”

Su Huan asked with interest.

Shu Wei pondered for a moment, ”About fifteen minutes or so.”

Su Huan raised an eyebrow, ”Faster than the current Armed Corps?”

”The majority of combat time isn’t too long; Black Kite was defeated not due to the Armed Train’s strength but because of you, the train master...”

Shu Wei gazed at Su Huan’s profile, her eyes complicated.

Logically, even faced with stronger monsters, Black Kite’s squad had a struggle chance.

But under Su Huan’s raging thunder, they had no way out.

Instant activation, forget about it, wide area, high intensity.

Tier crushing, taking them down one by one with no room for contention.

Like Yu Yue, Xiaoba, Lin Jin... they all had exceptional strength in at least one area.

For instance, Xiaoba’s control over steel, countered with carbon fiber or other non-metallic weapons, and Xiaoba’s attack methods would be halved.

Yu Yue and Liang Kuan were the same.

Though strong, they hadn’t exceeded their limits.

Ultimately they were Tier One Evolvers, leaving room for maneuver.

With the two remaining Tier Two Water Ghosts in the field, they still weren’t killed and had to be slowly worn down with Yu Yue’s electromagnetic weapons and large-caliber firearms.

”Now, not counting my factor, how does the current Armed Corps’s combat power measure up?”

Shu Wei collected her emotions, analyzing calmly, ”Apart from a few high-ranking individuals, others have average evolutionary intensity, relying on teamwork and logistics, poor independent combat capability, and no teams formed based on abilities, overall... chaotic. Coordinated attacks on mindless mutant zombies are fine, but when facing elite squads of the same level, they’ll simply be slaughtered.”

Su Huan nodded, consistent with his judgment.

However, it wasn’t unexpected.

The Armed Train managing from among ordinary people and soldiers to reach this level was already commendable.

Accumulate enough quantity to achieve qualitative change first.

The Black Kite elite squad was carefully handpicked from numerous Evolvers, even with Black Kite’s abundant resources, not every squad could be equipped with various specialists.

The train’s foundation was too thin to withdraw the backbone, needing to nurture its body first.

As Lin Jin dissipated the flame in the cage, the deck was shrouded in wisps of green smoke.

The Tier Two Water Ghost, riddled with bullet holes, was completely dead.

He Jie’s scolding voice arose from the deck, urging the battlefield cleanup while berating the poorly performing officer.

Lao San was a prime example.

Despite his prestigious position as chief attendant, he was scolded like a grandson by He Jie for inadequate command.

Yet, no one looked down on Lao San because of it.

In the army, such hierarchical scolding was the norm.

”Once the battlefield is cleaned, notify all departments to continue progressing toward Xiushui City.”
