The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 849: Chapter 849: Are You Really Okay?

The three of them chatted as they arrived at the inn.

As soon as they stepped inside, they saw Madam Ruan and Daya returning from outside as well.

The two had wandered around a nearby ready-to-wear clothes shop, and after returning, they would inevitably have to take good care of that shop.

Although both had set up food stalls in Heichang County, Madam Ruan’s real expertise was in making clothes, and Daya was becoming increasingly skilled in makeup under Shu Yu’s tutelage.

Food vending and clothes-making are completely different directions, and without their previous urgency, they naturally wanted to do what they were good at.

The ready-to-wear clothes shops in the prefecture were different from those in the county town, and although they hadn’t browsed for long, their findings were substantial.

Madam Ruan even had several clothing patterns in mind, planning to work them out with Xiang once they returned to Jiangyuan County.

With the whole family back at the inn, the old lady was in good spirits and quickly called everyone to eat.

Lu Erbai had not had the chance to ask earlier, but now he started to inquire about the incident at the clinic.

He had returned to the inn earlier, and right away he heard many people in the main hall discussing the violent incident at Renxin Clinic. Their stories became more and more exaggerated, with one moment a life being lost, the next someone grievously wounded and beyond saving, then tales of the perpetrator’s entire family dying at the doctor’s hands.

In short, the severity implied in those conversations made Lu Erbai’s eyelids twitch uncontrollably.

It was Zhao Xi who pulled him away from the main hall back to the room, away from those rumors, and only then did Lu Erbai begin to feel somewhat relieved.

But he remained deeply concerned.

This time, Shu Yu did not hide anything from him, explaining the whole story from start to finish. She didn’t leave out the part about Sanya either.

After listening, the Lu family members were all stunned, then turned their heads in unison to look at Sanya, who was eating her meal with apparent relish.

The old lady took a sip of water; even she could imagine the bloody scene and lost her appetite as a result.

Sanya had experienced it firsthand and still managed to eat?

Zhao Xi, on the other hand, was quite excited. Indeed, she was the little apprentice sister he had taken notice of, showing remarkable composure in a dangerous situation and even having an experience in treating the injured.

At her age, even he had not yet bandaged someone’s wounds.

Feeling inexplicably elated, Zhao Xi moved closer to Sanya and began asking about the details, meanwhile offering her guidance.

Sanya listened carefully, committing everything to memory and also managed to deduce further principles on her own.

This delighted Zhao Xi even more, and he decided to write a letter to his master as soon as he returned to his room, telling him that he had found a true gem.

The old lady, watching the lively conversation between the elder and the younger, gestured with her eyes to Shu Yu: is everything really okay?

Shu Yu shook her head, probably there’s nothing wrong... she guessed.

Even though she felt this way, when bedtime came around, Shu Yu said to others, ”I’ll accompany Sanya to bed tonight. Just because she was fine during the day doesn’t mean she won’t be affected at night. I’ll keep an eye on her.”

Nobody objected, so Shu Yu took Sanya back to their room.

The young girl really enjoyed sleeping with her second sister. After washing up, she obediently climbed into bed and looked at Shu Yu with anticipation.

Shu Yu, amused, blew out the candlelight and gently patted her back.

Sanya fell asleep quickly; she had been busy all afternoon and was truly exhausted.

She had wanted to chat with Shu Yu, but fell asleep after only a few words.

Shu Yu, however, did not sleep well that night, getting up from time to time to check on Sanya.

But the little girl slept through until morning, and might even have dreamed about something delicious—she was laughing and smacking her lips in her sleep, sound and sweet. Far from showing fear, she didn’t even tremble once.
