The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 833: Chapter 833: How come there’s none?

The Lu family members were stunned upon hearing the news, Mrs. Xue was gone?

Just like that, how could someone just disappear? They had just parted a few days ago, and she seemed perfectly fine then.

Shu Yu narrowed her eyes, it seems the Shu family acted swiftly and decisively.

”How could she be gone?” she asked softly.

Meng Yunzheng replied, ”After she returned, the Shu family announced that Mrs. Xue had abused you when you were a child. Now that she learned you had become the Village Chief, she feared you would seek revenge. She was always anxious and paranoid, and eventually became deranged. The Shu family, worried she might do something drastic, confined her at home. Unfortunately, she climbed over the courtyard wall attempting to escape. Due to an injury on her hand which hindered her movement, she fell headfirst and died immediately.”

Shu Yu, ”...”

The walls of the Shu family’s courtyard are actually quite low, less than three meters. Such a bizarre coincidence that she lost her life from such a fall.

What Meng Yunzheng didn’t mention was that the Shu family was clearly scared that Shu Yu might seek revenge, so they even fabricated an excuse that was advantageous to her.

Currently, the villagers of Righteous Dao Village were all abuzz. How terribly had Mrs. Xue treated Monarch Lu Xiang in her childhood, that she would become so frightened upon his rise to power? Ordinary abuse shouldn’t drive someone mad, should it?

Moreover, Monarch Lu Xiang didn’t even bother with her, yet she kept scaring herself.

Previously in the village, there were a few voices saying that Shu Yu was enjoying her life, but neglecting the welfare of her foster mother. Her own brother being a doctor wasn’t allowed to tend to Mrs. Xue’s injuries.

They also said, even if Mrs. Xue had been unkind to her in the past, she was still her foster mother. Now that she has found her biological parents, she completely disregards the destitute Shu family.

These voices weren’t many, but they were annoying when occasionally heard.

Now, hearing that Mrs. Xue had driven herself mad due to her past abuse, people only sighed.

Moreover, the Shu family was actively trying to integrate with the villagers of Righteous Dao Village, and they kept pushing the blame onto Mrs. Xue when questioned by others. They claimed it was because of her that Shu Yu had such a terrible relationship with the Shu family.

After hearing this, people couldn’t muster any sympathy for Mrs. Xue’s death.

They only felt that it was retribution.

The Lu family members thought the same, the old lady said with a sense of relief, ”That’s why one should not commit too many evils, or else even climbing a wall can kill you.”

Other members of the Lu family nodded in agreement.

Madam Hou and her daughter, well aware of the Shu family’s character, remained silent.

But regardless of what the Shu family was like, it no longer mattered to Madam Hou and her daughter.

They were more concerned about Shu Yu’s departure now; once she left, it would be hard to see her again.

And with things happening so suddenly, even if Madam Hou wanted to prepare something, it was too late.

Shu Yu did not mind, after talking, she retreated to her room to rest early.

However, Shu Yu, who usually slept soundly, suddenly started dreaming that night.

This dream was somewhat different, seemingly very realistic.

Shu Yu felt as if she had returned to the modern era, back to her last life’s home.

How could she suddenly dream about her previous life? She had been in the Dasu dynasty for almost two years and only initially had dreams about her past life. Nowadays, she hardly even reminisced.

But seeing her home from her past life, Shu Yu still felt very nostalgic and couldn’t help wanting to stay a little longer.

Then, she saw a figure that was somewhat familiar yet strange.
