The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 845: Chapter 845: The Reason for the Crime

Not only was the shopkeeper from the medical clinic there, but several constables followed behind him.

When they walked up to Shu Yu, the shopkeeper immediately expressed his gratitude. He had been far too busy, having to disperse the crowd, find someone to report the incident, and tend to the injured and the assailant.

It was only now that he found the time to look for Shu Yu, for whom he was very grateful.

Had it not been for her kicking the dagger out of the man’s hand first, the injured could have been numerous, and the old doctor might have even died on the spot.

Now, although the old doctor’s life was still hanging by a thread, at least there was a glimmer of hope.

The shopkeeper said to Shu Yu, ”These officials are bailiffs from the Office, here to inquire about the incident. You were the first to kick the weapon out of thug’s hand, so they have a few questions for you. Miss, there is no need to be nervous; you saw injustice on the road and took good action. You are someone worthy of commendation.”

He was kind and considerate to Shu Yu, not treating her any less respectfully because she was a young woman; on the contrary, he was concerned she might feel uneasy facing the officers from the Office.

Shu Yu nodded, ”Bailiff, feel free to ask any questions you may have.”

In fact, there was nothing major; it was just routine procedure to understand her full name and origin, as well as the purpose of her visit.

Shu Yu answered one by one. She did not mention that she was recently conferred the title of Village Chief by His Majesty, simply stating that she was from Jiangyuan County and had just returned from a long journey with her family, currently resting at an inn.

The officers nodded, and when they heard her mention that her younger sister was studying medicine and wanted to come take a look at the female doctor in the clinic, even the shopkeeper was taken aback.

They all turned their heads to look at Sanya, who was busily following Doctor Xie.

The shopkeeper understood that the young lady must be intending to bring her sister to learn medicine.

That little girl was indeed brave, having experienced such an ordeal without fearing the sight of blood, and her actions were decisive and clever.

The shopkeeper pondered if this young girl really had a talent in this field, it was worth persuading Doctor Xie to consider taking her on as an apprentice.

However, Doctor Xie was naturally reserved and cold; though there had been others in the past who wanted to learn under her, they were all rejected by her.

Yet now, Doctor Xie did not resist Sanya’s assistance and even instructed her at times, which indicated satisfaction with the young girl.

As the officers were still present, the shopkeeper did not think it was appropriate to discuss this matter; he would talk in detail with Lady Lu after everything was settled.

Shu Yu had already started inquiring about the man’s background, ”He went for the old doctor with a knife as soon as he saw him, what exactly is the story?”

Speaking of the man, the shopkeeper snorted coldly, ”That man’s mother fell gravely ill and was treated by Doctor Liu. When she didn’t recover and passed away, he put all the blame on Doctor Liu. It was utterly despicable.”

One of the officers nodded, ”We have investigated it. This person goes by the nickname Lai Head. He usually does nothing but eat and be lazy. It was just him and his old mother at home. His mother used to take care of everything, while he did nothing. When his mother became seriously ill, he paid no mind and still had his mother cook, wash clothes, and clean while ill. In the end when she couldn’t get out of bed because of her illness, he still didn’t bring her to the clinic.”

”It was only when he had no one to tend to him and nowhere to eat that he had no choice but to bring his old mother here. But alas, it was too late. Doctor Liu did all he could, but she passed away in just a couple of days.”

”Lai Head buried his mother and then was left alone in his house.”
