Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 589: Chapter 569: Jin Yuee

Cong Rong and Luo Yanwu were also watching Luo Qianqian from the side, as that was their task for the evening, accompanying their girlfriends and taking care of Luo Qianqian.

”Falling in love at first sight is definitely about the looks,” Luo Yanwu laughed. ”Although I see this little face often, I can’t deny that even if Qianqian isn’t stunningly beautiful, she’s definitely a delicate beauty. Why couldn’t someone fall for her at first sight? Although she’s a bit young, Jimo Cheng isn’t that old either.”

”So did you fall for our Cong Rong at first sight because of her looks?” Qin Nuan immediately called him out.

Luo Yanwu nodded without any concern, ”Looks determine whether there will be a desire to communicate further; inner knowledge determines how two people get along, and a person’s cultivation determines the shelf life of their relationship.”

As Luo Qianqian listened to Luo Yanwu’s voice behind her, she looked up at Jimo Cheng and unexpectedly met a pair of gentle eyes.

She shook her head lightly and scrutinized Jimo Cheng carefully; fair and clean, with bright and spirited eyes, and eyebrows like stars—that described him exactly, along with a high nose bridge, chiseled jawline, and a pair of luscious, plump red lips. His hair also seemed extremely soft. His fingers were very slender and well-defined. The legs she saw were also the long legs she’d always liked. It seemed there was nothing unsatisfactory?

Could this be what liking someone felt like? Luo Qianqian tilted her head, furrowing her brows, and unconsciously began to bite on her finger.

No, this could only mean that she could get along with him because the chances of becoming friends with someone you dislike or even hate from the first sight are very low. First impressions are very important.

”Qianqian, Grandpa is calling for you,” Luo Yanhao, dressed in a white suit, came over to interrupt his granddaughter’s interaction with that boy who wanted to steal her away. His outfit matched Luo Qianqian’s the best, apart from Jimo Cheng who was present, so Old Master Luo couldn’t stand it anymore and sent him over.

Luo Qianqian was slightly startled and smiled, nodding, ”Second Brother looks super handsome today.” Then she beamed and walked towards the elders with Jimo Cheng.

Luo Yanhao smacked Luo Yanran on the back without any good humor, showing no respect in front of Qin Nuan, ”You little rascal, when I told you to come here, it was to interrupt them, why does it seem like you’re enjoying their company?”

”Second Brother, Qianqian has made her decision; let her be, she has to understand on her own, nothing we do will help,” Luo Yanwu looked at Luo Qianqian’s somewhat resolute back.

Before this, who could have imagined that a marriage arranged by parents would fall on the Luo family? And on the most beloved child of the Luo family?

Luo Qianqian had already lost her father, and her grandparents yearned to compensate both Qianqian and Shufan, always giving them the best in food, clothing, and anything else, afraid that they might be the slightest bit uncomfortable.

But perhaps it was also this reason that didn’t let Luo Qianqian reject Old Master Jimo.

”Luckily she’s still young, she has time,” Qin Nuan sighed heavily as a good friend she desperately wanted to help, but was helpless in reality.

”Actually, that guy isn’t bad at all, I don’t know why, but his eyes are clear, suggesting he’s genuine,” Cong Rong expressed a bit of confusion as she looked towards Qin Nuan.

Qin Nuan looked up, gazing at the backs of those two, and sighed.

Xu Tianyi—she couldn’t say whether she liked him or not, but she hoped that Luo Qianqian would always be happy.

”Grandpa, Grandpa Kong,” Luo Qianqian looked at the two elders who had returned to normal, smiling lightly as she took Old Master Luo’s arm, ”What is it?”

”Your Grandpa Kong wants to take you as a disciple; what do you think?” Old Master Luo’s face showed an indescribable weirdness. Although Jimo Kong might not seem reliable, only those who have been around him know that he is truly skilled, especially in painting and calligraphy.

Luo Qianqian looked at the expressions of the people around, most of whom were jealous, but she maintained her smile nonetheless.

Luo Qianqian thought for a moment, ”Grandpa Kong, I think calling you ’teacher’ isn’t as intimate as calling you ’grandpa,’ don’t you think?” She maintained a proper smile, yet her eyes sparkled with cleverness.

Jimo Kong looked at the cunning young girl in front of him with a face that was both smiling and not smiling, ”Ah Cheng calls me ’teacher’ when studying; what do you say?”

Luo Qianqian looked at Jimo Cheng beside her, only to see him nodding seriously, much to her surprise, her eyes whirling, ”Then what will Grandpa Kong teach me?”

Jimo Kong looked at Jimo Cheng with a strange expression. What he taught was something only his disciple knew. Had he told her already, in such a short time?

Jimo Cheng lightly coughed and then shifted his gaze toward Luo Qianqian, reaching out to tuck a loose strand of hair behind her ear.

He then calmly looked down at the ground, not daring to meet his grandfather’s eyes.

”As a closed-door disciple, you must inherit everything I know,” Jimo Kong said earnestly, then mischievously turned to Jimo Cheng, ”Of course, if your senior brother is willing to share the burden, I wouldn’t refuse.”

”So, Grandpa Kong, my grandfather has prepared the initiation gift. What will you give me?” she said, eyeing the box in her grandfather’s hand with a smile, ”Grandpa Kong wouldn’t take advantage of his disciple, right?”

Jimo Kong was momentarily speechless. In this situation, was it really appropriate to bluntly ask a teacher for a gift?

”I definitely won’t disappoint you. So, will you pay respect or not?” Jimo Kong, now empty-handed, couldn’t produce anything, ”I’ve given you my grandson. Are you still worried I’d renege on this gift?”

As soon as he spoke, Luo Qianqian blushed. Was this her fault? What does it mean to ’give her’?

Her eyes inadvertently glanced toward Qin Nuan who had walked over, only to realize Qin Nuan was nodding continuously. After a moment, she grinned, ”Grandpa Kong, I’m just teasing you. You are a senior to Qianqian. If you want this Chengxin Tang paper, Qianqian would gladly offer it with both hands. Why would she want your gift? If you were to take a disciple, people would line up from here to overseas, wouldn’t they?” No sooner had she spoken than both Old Master Luo and Jimo Kong were stunned. Was this still the same reluctant child from before?

Old Master Luo slightly furrowed his brows. Just now, had Qianqian been looking in the direction of her grandson?

Yet, he also breathed a sigh of relief. After all, being a student of Jimo Kong was an extremely select honor.

Old Master Jimo was visibly proud yet pretended to be humble, waving his hand dismissively, ”Not at all, not at all...”

Jimo Cheng, holding a glass of red wine, handed it to Luo Qianqian, who obediently stepped forward wanting to kneel and pay tribute but was immediately stopped by Old Master Luo. He snatched the glass away and handed it to Jimo Kong, visibly angry, ”My granddaughter hasn’t even knelt before me; there’s no reason for her to kneel to an old coot like you. Just drink up; this isn’t an initiation gift.”

He knew how strict this old guy was about initiation rituals and couldn’t bear to see his granddaughter kneel, glaring with eyes as big as a bull’s.

”Why shouldn’t it be? This is the initiation gift. Come on, Qianqian, here’s a big red envelope from your teacher.” Saying so, he pulled out a bulging red envelope from his chest pocket, apparently lumpy and irregular.

Luo Qianqian restrained her smile, looking serious, ”Thank you, teacher,” she said, bowing and receiving the red envelope with both hands.

She then glanced at Old Master Jimo, seeing a face full of anticipation, confused.

It was only then that Old Master Luo snapped out of it. Even without the Chengxin Tang paper, this cunning old man had planned everything long ago, both amused and annoyed, ”Qianqian, open it and see.”

At her grandfather’s signal, Luo Qianqian carefully opened the red envelope, surprised to find a stack of RMB and a red Jade Pendant inside.

She carefully pulled out the Jade Pendant, noting the complex lines on the back of the pendant, carved to look like a jade token but allowing one to see through the pattern to a ’Mo’ character.

The front was simpler, featuring only two characters without fancy embellishments, just some floral patterns etched at the corners, reading: Jin Yue.

”Warm Jade,” Jimo Cheng’s eyes shifted slightly as a Jade Token appeared in his hand, white with a hint of blue, bearing similar patterns, inscribed: Jin Nian.

”Doesn’t it match well with your boy?” Jimo Kong winked at Jimo Cheng.

Jimo Cheng was speechless, tucking away the Jade Token, a symbol of his identity.

”This is...?” Luo Qianqian pointed to the two characters on the Jade Token, full of questions.

”You belong to the Jin generation. Qianqian, are you satisfied with the name your teacher has chosen for you?”
