Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 551: Chapter 531: Intricately Complex (13)

”So you’re just saying that someone is a face-junkie, huh? Everyone has a love for beauty. Would you have fancied Xu Tianyi if he weren’t good-looking and was all chubby?” Qin Nuan said bluntly, ”I can understand it, but I don’t support just that.”

”Hmph, so you fell for Luo Yanran’s face?” Luo Qianqian shot back without hesitation.

Qin Nuan was speechless, holding Yue Xiluo’s suit, somewhat puzzled, ”Isn’t it weird to be wearing a jacket in such hot weather?”

”Shouldn’t the strangest thing be the scent on the clothes? It doesn’t smell like perfume, but it’s pretty pleasant,” Luo Qianqian remarked.

After hearing this, Qin Nuan also leaned in close to the clothes and sniffed, then made a face of disgust, ”Do we feel like perverts, sniffing someone else’s clothes, especially a teacher’s?”

”And it’s a middle-aged uncle’s clothes,” added Luo Qianqian. ”But I think this guy is not bad, he even told me to go first. So, do you think I should just return the coat as it is, or should I wash it first?”

”Normally, you’d definitely wash it first, but this can’t be machine-washed. If you hand-wash it... not to sound mean, but it might just be the end of that jacket,” Qin Nuan shook her head repeatedly.

Luo Qianqian was exasperated, ”Is that an exaggeration?”

”It’s even more exaggerated,” Qin Nuan said with certainty, ”When we get back to the dorm, I’ll help you wash it. But then again, how are we going to hang this kind of clothing in the dorm?”

No matter how you look at it, their dorm was a girls’ dorm after all. Suddenly having such a mature suit appear, it wouldn’t just be a problem of whether anyone had seen the suit before; just explaining it to the roommates would be troublesome enough. After all, each of her roommates had their own concerns. It’s better to avoid making more trouble.

”Ask Second Brother Qin for help?” Luo Qianqian brightened up. The one who usually wore a suit around her was none other than Qin Wen.

”Then he’ll suspect you of having an early romance,” Qin Nuan said, rolling her eyes disapprovingly.

”I’m not guilty of anything...” While she was thinking this, her phone vibrated twice. She took it out and saw a message from Elvis: Don’t wash the teacher’s clothes, just bring them back as they are.

”Hey, Elvis is so considerate,” said Luo Qianqian with raised eyebrows, holding up her phone for Qin Nuan to see.

Qin Nuan, however, just raised her eyebrows and stayed silent, looking at the suit in her hands, ”You should still buy some kind of gift to send along with it, shouldn’t you?”

She had not witnessed the scene and did not really understand why that teacher was so adamant that Luo Qianqian should not touch that bead.

”You make a good point.” Luo Qianqian quickly agreed, looking around before asking, ”Where’s Cong Rong? Isn’t she dieting?”

”She’s already gone to reserve a spot,” Qin Nuan rolled her eyes; did she look so unprepared?

”Oh, then let’s hurry up. Though I ate quite a bit and am not hungry right now,” Luo Qianqian stuck out her tongue, taking the jacket from Qin Nuan’s hands and stuffing it into her backpack, ”But there are only a few days left, so I might as well skip dinner for these days... It’s true, being chubby in a dress is not a good look.”

”Right?” Qin Nuan nodded in agreement, repeatedly nodding her head.

Luo Qianqian heartily agreed, exchanging a smile with Qin Nuan.

The three girls passing by looked closely at the two of them, chubby??? If they considered that chubby, then what hope was there for themselves? They cast a resentful glance towards the backs of the two girls.

Yet the pair, oblivious to the girls’ feelings, walked on along the shaded path.

”By the way, what gift are you preparing for Grandpa?” Luo Qianqian suddenly asked. Usually, just going for a stroll and buying something special was heartfelt, but this time it was his major birthday celebration. Wouldn’t it be embarrassing to just buy something casual?”

”Don’t even mention it. I bought a bracelet but my brother said it was of poor quality, and I don’t know what to do with it now,” Qin Nuan shook her head, her face clouded with frustration: ”I’m even considering imitating the ancients and crafting something like a two-sided embroidery or a Centennial Longevity Painting.”

Luo Qianqian instinctively clicked her tongue, then hurriedly explained, ”I’m definitely not mocking you, but even if you knew how to do that, it wouldn’t be something you could finish in just a couple of days, right?”

”What had you prepared before?” Qin Nuan sighed, because Luo Qianqian always made sure to prepare birthday gifts early and never forgot them.

”Chess,” Luo Qianqian pursed her lips: ”It felt pretty good.”

”I don’t think he lacks any rare things; you should try a different approach,” Qin Nuan shook her head. Old Master Luo had always preferred not to make a big fuss over things. His willingness to celebrate this time was partly due to the company, but more importantly because of introducing Luo Qianqian.

”Don’t even start. I’m even thinking of getting him a huge ginger...” Luo Qianqian pouted: ”For boundless longevity, right?”

”’No ginger,’ and you’re giving ginger??? Are you an idiot?” Qin Nuan said mercilessly.

Luo Qianqian was stunned and found it hard not to agree with a laugh, unable to refute it.

Old Master Luo loved to drink tea, but there was already plenty of it at home. Tea was a common gift, but it didn’t seem appropriate for a birthday, especially one that needed to be auspicious.

Even upon reaching the restaurant’s doorstep, Luo Qianqian remained lost in thought about the gift issue, head bowed.

Cong Rong, looking at Luo Qianqian who was still frowning after taking her seat, was somewhat baffled: ”What’s going on here?”

”Thinking about a birthday present. It’s her grandpa’s big birthday celebration,” Qin Nuan explained without hiding anything and took the opportunity to remind Cong Rong to prepare a gift as well.

Cong Rong nodded with a light laugh, ”I was planning to shop around this afternoon anyway. Since it’s the Master’s birthday, even as a friend, I’d feel awkward coming empty-handed.”

Luo Qianqian started to wave her hand in decline, yet she pulled back and nodded instead; after all, this was going to be her future sister-in-law.

Watching her shake and then nod her head, Qin Nuan and Cong Rong couldn’t help feeling helpless at her evident indecision.

”I always feel like I’m an envoy from a small country, and Grandpa is the king of a great nation, waiting for my tribute,” Luo Qianqian mumbled. But in the next moment, the porridge was served, and Luo Qianqian had no more room for thought. The seafood porridge smelled so good.

”That’s a fitting description. But you’re obviously the cherished Little Princess; no one would blame you if you didn’t bring a gift,” Qin Nuan chuckled: ”Let’s look around later; there’s nothing else to do anyway.”

Luo Qianqian nodded, having a few places in mind she wanted to visit.

When it came to buying something for the Master, trendy fashion places were definitely out of the question; thus, shopping malls were already bypassed.

Although Old Master Luo wasn’t particularly enamored with antiques, he preferred those items he could play with over impractical clothing that he couldn’t wear out.

Boutiques were even less likely a choice; jewelry and other accessories were also bypassed since the Master only went out to walk the dog. But getting a new dog collar or leash would obviously be a gift for Baozi and not for him.
