Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 530: Chapter 510: Who is the person behind the scenes? (22)

”...so what if you have a partner?” Luo Qianqian rolled her eyes, ”Don’t bully the singles, woof woof woof.”

”...I don’t want to say anything.” Qin Nuan was speechless. Didn’t everyone else know the matters regarding Luo Qianqian? Was there really a need for her to mention what was up with Xu Tianyi?

”But there’s no doubt one issue.” Luo Qianqian frowned.

”What?”

”The person looking for me doesn’t know my phone number but knows my dorm phone, isn’t that strange? Why didn’t they just ask for my number instead of calling my dorm?” Luo Qianqian rolled her eyes, ”They want to go out with me but don’t have my number? Isn’t that weird?”

”...Your phone can be connected on the third try, and it’s usually either silent or on vibrate, do I need to say more?” Being able to answer calls was basically luck, luckily she had another number that always rang.

”Isn’t that for class?” Luo Qianqian rolled her eyes, ”What if someone was pulling a prank?”

”You’re overthinking it,” Qin Nuan’s lips twitched, then she glanced around, ”Let’s just take a cab back.”

Luo Qianqian nodded, then as if a sudden thought struck her, ”Do you think the person calling me was using a code? Maybe it’s not really about meeting me but just an excuse?”

Qin Nuan slightly frowned upon hearing this, ”If you put it that way, maybe it was the same for the others?”

”A code? Underground party?” Luo Qianqian pursed her lips in disbelief, hailed a taxi, and got in, though her expression didn’t improve.

The possibility wasn’t non-existent, it was just something they had only just considered, and this realization made Luo Qianqian’s face look a lot worse.

Plus, the cell phone call records they knew of didn’t indicate everything, just like her having two phones, right? What if there were two phones?

Qin Nuan also considered this issue, her complexion looking very grim, and the two didn’t speak again until they got out of the car.

As they exited the car, they noticed a familiar vehicle ahead, which seemed to be the Luo family’s car.

The two didn’t enter the school but watched the car, and soon, Cong Rong got out of the vehicle, thanked the person inside, picked up her suitcase, and turned to walk towards the school. The car drove away.

Luo Qianqian was almost certain that the person inside was Luo Yanwu.

”Did you know she was coming back today?” Luo Qianqian nudged Qin Nuan.

Qin Nuan shook her head, but the next second, both of them received a message: I’m back, are you in the dorm? Brought some food.

Luo Qianqian and Qin Nuan exchanged glances, then, feeling relieved, they ran up to the briskly walking Cong Rong and patted her, who was still dragging her suitcase.

Qin Nuan spoke first, ”Did you resolve the family issue?”

Cong Rong nodded, then turned to Luo Qianqian, ”There’s nothing wrong at home, just a temporary problem that needed time to sort out, and it will be fine soon. I suspect someone purposely made me leave, so I rushed back.”

Luo Qianqian spread her hands, ”Are you trying to say someone is targeting me, and this was just a warning?”

Cong Rong nodded.

Luo Qianqian shook her head, curving her lips, ”After you and Cao Yingying left, Qin Nuan and I discovered that the soy milk had also been tampered with. Perhaps making you leave was meant to increase your suspicion in those previous incidents?”

Cong Rong’s face was filled with disbelief, then she looked at Qin Nuan, who nodded.

”And, Cao Yingying is back too,” Luo Qianqian curled her lips. ”Her family’s issues are almost resolved, but we’ve received other news from Cao Yingying.”

”...Tell me, is it really okay?” Cong Rong didn’t ask what the news was, instead looking into Qin Nuan and Luo Qianqian’s eyes.

Luo Qianqian curled her lips, ”You guess what we saw when we just got out of the car?”

Cong Rong blushed subconsciously. She had just gotten out of the car too, and Luo Qianqian and Qin Nuan had appeared right behind her, undoubtedly seeing how she had come.

”My third brother may be naive but he’s no fool. If someone approaches him with ulterior motives, his vigilance wouldn’t allow danger to get close. That he’s willing to interact with you proves you harbor no ill intentions, isn’t that enough?” Luo Qianqian didn’t hold back, speaking bluntly.

The main judgment actually came from Luo Shufan, but she didn’t want to say that.

”So it’s because of him, not because of our feelings, huh?” Cong Rong pretended to be hurt, but there was relief and ease in the depths of her eyes.

”Is it really good to describe him as naive?” Qin Nuan curled her lips, considering he was Luo Yanran’s brother, and Luo Yanran had acted in countless idol and romance dramas.

”That’s not an issue.” Luo Qianqian hastily ignored the issues the two were having. She didn’t want to expose Luo Yanwu’s shortcomings. After all, at his age, except for family, he hadn’t had much contact with girls, which wasn’t something to be proud of, right?

”Now, Cao Yingying’s suspicion is also very small,” Luo Qianqian sighed lightly.

”So that means...” Zhang Yun and Xiu Ran are the most suspicious? Cong Rong covered her mouth. Although sure of her own innocence, knowing the deeds of those around her was a different story. Being in the same room with such people made her shiver.

”You don’t have to worry, I am the target,” seeing Cong Rong cover her mouth and the look of panic on her face, Luo Qianqian sighed deeply.

”...Don’t you think that’s even more terrifying?” Cong Rong shook her head, fully aware that from the beginning she was implicated unintentionally, not the target. After returning home and hearing her parents’ analysis, it was confirmed that it was just to unsettle her, meaning the target was someone else.

After thinking it over, it could only be Qin Nuan and Luo Qianqian. Especially given the previous money issue, it left her psychologically scarred even about her shoes.

Thinking more carefully, all evidence and belongings ended up with Luo Qianqian and only Luo Qianqian suffered no losses. She could completely deduce that Luo Qianqian was more likely responsible.

Qin Nuan sighed, ”We’re still in the fog with practically no clues.”

”Exactly, we’re just groping in the dark,” Luo Qianqian pursed her lips, a look of dejection on her face.

She really didn’t know what kind of expression she should wear to easily face such a situation.

”Speaking of which, after you lost the money, I saw Han Chen withdrawing money. Normally taking two or three hundred would be enough, but he took out three thousand. I remember it vividly; it was at the ATM near the supermarket when I happened to go buy sanitary pads,” Cong Rong pursed her lips, ”I even overheard him on the phone and heard your name,” she said, looking towards Luo Qianqian.

Luo Qianqian, pointing at herself, ”Me?”

Cong Rong nodded.

Luo Qianqian looked incredulous. How could that be? She had hardly any contact with Han Chen.

At most, her classmate Elvis had some contact with him since they had served as school ”heartthrobs” together and played basketball together.

And Elvis, sitting next to her, had indeed warned her to stay away from Han Chen somewhat.

Han Chen... It couldn’t be the Han she knew, could it?
