Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 516: Chapter 496: Who is the person behind the scenes? (Part 9)

All three people in the kitchen were completely unaware. They were happily cooking; of course, Qianqian was there for the show and kept making jokes to entertain the other two.

”Ah, that young girl...” Tingyu couldn’t help but bring up the young girl after a while. Once Qianqian and Cong Rong put their heads together, they immediately knew that the grandmother must have been talking about no one other than Cong Rong.

Qianqian covered her mouth, ”Grandma, if you talk about someone else in front of Sister Nuannuan, be careful that Sister Nuannuan gets jealous.” Despite joking about Qin Nuan, the deliberate avoidance of mentioning Cong Rong was quite clear.

There were a lot of issues going on in the dormitory right now, and they wanted to trust the people they believed in. But what if they trusted the wrong person? The consequences might not be something they could afford.

Just like that incident with the 1200 cash, Qianqian was almost...

”Nonsense, how could I be jealous?” Qin Nuan was discontent with Qianqian making fun of her, yet she also understood that mentioning Cong Rong at this time would only lead to more wild speculations by the two.

Tingyu was as cunning as they come, seeing their reaction, who wouldn’t know that the two did not wish to bring up the subject? So she changed the topic and began laughing and joking about something else.

Soon, the freshly cooked food was ready amidst their conversation, and the aroma even reached the living room.

Old Master Luo took a deep breath, ”This little glutton has really taken her time.”

The scent was clearly that of his wife’s fried mashed potato meatballs.

”Could Grandpa be born in the year of the dog?” While sneaking some food, Qianqian popped out just in time to hear Old Master Luo’s teasing, her face full of discontent: ”If I’m a glutton, that’s my business, I’m pampered by Grandma, huh, I’m going to eat them all, not giving a single one to Grandpa.”

Her voice was not subdued at all, and Old Master Luo, who had been teasing Qianqian, was caught by surprise by his granddaughter’s words, momentarily unsure whether to admit fault or to get angry, his expression somewhat sheepish.

However, he soon saw Qianqian coming out with a small bowl, which contained three potato meatballs with toothpicks in them. Qianqian herself was holding another, smugly placing the bowl on the coffee table: ”The little greedy girl is so lucky, pampered by Grandma and adored by her brother. Here, Brother Jiayou, as a reward for the pig trotters, you get one.” Saying this, she fed the meatball in her hand into Lin Jiayou’s mouth, smiling radiantly: ”Tasty, isn’t it? One of a kind, you won’t find this anywhere else.”

Lin Jiayou nodded, the taste was indeed good, but he wasn’t particularly attentive to culinary desires, and didn’t particularly feel like eating more, that’s all.

Under Old Master Luo’s gaze, Qianqian giggled and stuffed the second potato meatball into Luo Yanwu’s mouth, still saying, ”Ahh, Third Brother has worked hard, hurrying back like that. Here’s your reward.”

Then, under Old Master Luo’s watchful eye, she inserted the third meatball into Qin Wen’s mouth: ”Second Brother Qin has also worked hard, having to drive us around, truly laborious indeed.”

Old Master Luo watched the last meatball in the bowl with eager eyes, looking at Qianqian.

Qianqian calmly stuffed the last meatball into her own mouth: ”I still have to serve the food, that’s really hard work, a reward for my efforts.”

Old Master Luo’s eyes widened, just as he was about to say something, he heard Qianqian say in a quiet tone: ”Does Grandpa want to eat? I’m afraid not, Grandma said Grandpa’s meals should have less oil and salt, favoring bland foods. We young people will handle such greasy stuff. To spare Grandpa’s feelings, Grandma especially made celery and vegetable meatballs for you.”

```
Hearing about the boiled vegetable meatballs with celery, Old Master Luo’s face almost turned the color of greens. Eating celery every day to lower his blood pressure had nearly transformed him into a humanoid celery. He craved meat, yearned to bite into chunks of juicy meat, and felt like his current life sent him back to the times before liberation.
Usually, when there was meat in the dishes, very little oil was used, and when there was oil, there was no meat. Old Master Luo, who couldn’t be happy without meat, declared himself a carnivore, not a herbivore.
However, Yue Tingyu said carnivores ate raw meat. Moreover, carnivores don’t consume oil; not every animal is pampered with such variety in its diet as humans are.
In the face of Yue Tingyu, Old Master Luo didn’t dare to use force and couldn’t win with words, so he just kept his frustrations bottled up inside, occasionally soothing his meat-deprived soul with some Baozi with ham sausage inside.
It was only when Yue Tingyu described Old Master Luo’s recent meals that Luo Qianqian learned why her grandfather would eat Baozi with ham sausage, but Yue Tingyu obviously had anticipated this, buying only the best Jin X Wang brand, not the ones made especially for dogs, and even the beef jerky she bought was of the highest quality, fearing that Old Master Luo would begrudge the dog its meat while he ate vegetables.
Who would have thought that in the next second, Yue Tingyu would come out with a plate holding over a dozen potato meatballs, looking at Old Master Luo, ”This is an exception.”
Luo Qianqian stuck out her tongue, knowing her grandmother couldn’t bear to see her tease her grandfather. After all, how could she not understand her spouse’s wishes after so many years of marriage?
Old Master Luo looked at the bowl in front of him, hesitated for a moment, picked up a toothpick and poked a meatball, then handed the bowl to Luo Qianqian, saying, ”Only children like to eat these kinds of things.” But watching him carefully eat that single meatball, reluctant to swallow it whole, it was clear that he thoroughly enjoyed it.
Yue Tingyu knew he wanted meat, and how could he not know that his wife worried about his health? After all, they had spent most of their lives together, and they both understood each other’s hearts.
”Actually, Grandma, the shredded meat in boiled noodles is also meat, and it has no oil or fat,” Luo Qianqian, seeing her grandfather this way, was not in the mood for jokes, feeling a bit heartbroken and started giving suggestions, ”Whether it’s steamed or boiled, they don’t have much oil, right? Chicken and beef are diet foods, so they shouldn’t be a problem, right?”
Of course, Yue Tingyu knew that; she was just wanting to discipline Old Master Luo for not following the doctor’s advice, which is why she made him eat a week of plain boiled celery balls, a purely vegetarian version with no salt or oil.
After the meal, Old Master Luo contentedly rubbed his belly, ”Qianqian, your godmother is really a great cook.”
Luo Qianqian wore a proud expression, ”Of course, who else could my godmother be?”
Qin Nuan just wanted to say, even without being your godmother, anyone could still make delicious food.
However, she was quite impressed, as what she had tasted at the Shangqi Club was the same.
”Qianqian, give me one later, I want to send it to my eldest brother for him to try.” Whenever Qin Nuan encountered something tasty, she always thought of her two brothers. The second brother had already tried it, but the eldest had not.
Qin Wen didn’t know how to react, to feel touched that his little sister remembered them when enjoying good food, or to lament their lack of progress?
Fortunately, there was plenty brought over, and Luo Qianqian generously agreed, after all, she could bring some more home when she went back during the eleventh holiday.
After dinner, Qin Wen took Qin Nuan back home and dropped Lin Jiayou off at his school on the way, while Luo Qianqian was called into the study by Old Master Luo.
