Strongest Lord by Opening Blind Boxes

Chapter 394: Chapter 288: Infinite Swordsmanship, Abyss Gazer Mission (Part 2)

”Ding! You have received a notice: The Abyss Gazer quest is a world quest. Completing it will grant you a handsome reward!”

Wang Yi was overjoyed.

’There’s a hidden quest, Abyss Gazer? It seems the World of Suffering is still hiding quite a few secrets!’

Wang Yi collected his thoughts and went to open the Treasure Chest dropped by Deep Pupil.

He lifted the Treasure Chest’s lid, and a brilliant light flashed out. Four items appeared before Wang Yi.

The first item was a [Recruitment Scroll], a gold-tier item. Using it would randomly recruit ten thousand soldiers.

The second item was a [Deep Sea Ring], classified as a Mysterious Item. Wearing it would block the detection of any Earth Deity Beast in the sea below the rank of King Qi.

The third item was a [Supply Treasure Chest]. Wang Yi opened it and received a golden blind box, a Golden Chaos Egg, as well as fifty tons of kelp, one hundred fifty tons of dried shrimp, and two hundred fifty tons of natural water!

The final item was a [Mysterious Key]. This key could be used to open a hidden treasure chamber within the current underwater city ruins.

Wang Yi first stored the kelp, dried shrimp, and natural water in the Chaos Warehouse.

The Golden Chaos Egg could hatch a petty and indecisive Military Governor. Wang Yi chose not to hatch it, storing it in the Chaos Warehouse as well.

Next, Wang Yi used the Recruitment Scroll, summoning ten thousand [Water Skeletons]!

These so-called Water Skeletons were bizarre skeletons covered in long, black hair. Their hair could grow up to two meters long. They were incapable of coming ashore, living only in water, where they excelled in combat with incredible swimming speed. They would die if they remained out of the water for too long.

’These things are a bit terrifying, but as creatures for my territory—recruited soldiers—they’re harmless. I can station them in the Jade River, Wanlong River, Crystal River, or Seven-Colored Lake for now.’

Wang Yi made his decision. A moment later, using the Tower of Suffering within the city ruins, he sent the ten thousand Water Skeletons back to his territory.

Next, Wang Yi opened the golden blind box. His luck wasn’t great; it only gave him three options. From them, Wang Yi chose a [Vajra Demon-Subduing Pestle] that had been Enhanced +3.

The Vajra Demon-Subduing Pestle was a weapon with four special effects: [Buddha’s Radiance], [Demon Suppression], [Vajra Indestructible], and [Automatic Repair].

All three enhancements had been applied to [Vajra Indestructible], making the Vajra Demon-Subduing Pestle even more Solid.

However, Wang Yi had no use for this weapon, so he stored it in the Chaos Warehouse as well.

Wielding the [Mysterious Key], Wang Yi began to explore the underwater city ruins. Half a day later, he found the hidden treasure chamber. Opening it yielded Ten Thousand Gold Coins, ten Chaos Crystal Stones, a large quantity of gold, silver, and jewels, and numerous Tridents.

’No blind boxes? One star!’

Wang Yi grumbled.

A short while later, Wang Yi reached the Linyuan Sea. He explored the seabed in his Bronze War Chariot and soon discovered the Dark Sea Trench.

A black river, viscous as crude oil, flowed through the trench. This was the River of Souls, and the Dark Sea Trench was, in fact, the Soul Abyss.

Wang Yi explored along the Soul Abyss for another half a day before he saw the cross-legged figure of the Abyss Gazer.

The Abyss Gazer’s shell—or rather, its armor—was a relic left behind by a Destruction. But now, a Player was trapped inside it, a man named Luo Ye.

When he saw Wang Yi arrive, Luo Ye cried out in excitement, ”I’ve finally been waiting for you, you son of a— Hmm? You’re a Traveler?”

Wang Yi looked at the Abyss Gazer. By using the Deep Sea Breathing Technique, he was able to speak as well. ”That’s right,” he said. ”I am a Traveler!”

”It doesn’t matter who you are, you’re in the right place. I’m carrying a world quest. The fact that you made it here means you must be powerful. Are you willing to destroy the Life Source Body and help me break free?”

As Luo Ye spoke, Wang Yi received a system notification. ”Ding! The Abyss Gazer, Luo Ye, has issued you the Abyss Gazer quest. Accept the quest and follow his guidance to kill the Life Source Body, one of the final bosses of the World of Suffering. Opening the Life Cage and unsealing the River of Souls will grant a handsome reward!”

”Ding! Notice: Upon accepting the Abyss Gazer quest, you may wear the Abyss Gazer’s armor and temporarily wield its power. Do you wish to accept this quest?”

Wang Yi thought for two seconds before accepting the quest.

Luo Ye was overjoyed. The Abyss Gazer’s armor stood up. ”Excellent! After waiting for countless years, someone has finally accepted this quest! My friend, once you kill Yama, my duty as a warden will be complete. I will summon Yama now. When she appears, put on this armor and fight her...”

Without waiting for Wang Yi’s reply, Luo Ye acted. By some unknown means, the River of Souls within the Soul Abyss suddenly began to churn violently, as if it were boiling.

From the pitch-black depths of the Soul Abyss, a massive stone sphere slowly ascended.

In Wang Yi’s view, the stone sphere was about a hundred feet in diameter. It resembled a model planet, its surface pitted with craters. From the largest of these craters, a section of a spinal column protruded!

[Abandoned Heart of Chaos: The former world core of the Yama World. The Life Dominator, Yama, is parasitic within it. Hub of the life cycle. Resurrection progress: 1.66%.]

’This... what in the world is this?’

Wang Yi’s eyes narrowed as countless speculations raced through his mind.

Just then, a CRACKING sound came from within the stone sphere. Cracks spiderwebbed across its surface, and then it shattered. Debris fell away, revealing a giant curled inside, hugging its knees.

The giant looked like a mummy, its body shriveled, nothing but skin and bones, without the slightest sign of life.

Luo Ye shouted again, ”Traveler, be careful! That’s Yama! She might be one of the Ancient Gods, or she might not be. In any case, she’s the creator of the Yama World. After she died, she transformed into the world’s core and has been trying to resurrect herself ever since. For countless years, she has used the cycle of life to accumulate Life Force and the Power of Resurrection. Now, her resurrection progress has reached 1.66%!”

”Don’t be fooled by the 1.66% progress. Her power is still immense. Her Will is practically the will of the world itself. Once she awakens, her power will be comparable to a Celestial God. Over countless years, she has orchestrated multiple mass extinctions. She isn’t a Destruction, but she might as well be one! My mission is to watch over her. She’s about to wake up now! Come on, put on the Abyss Gazer Battle Armor and finish her off for good!”

But Wang Yi was perfectly relaxed. He sized up Yama, pondering, ’Typhon World, Valon World, Peach Blossom Spring World, Sea Power World, Great Struggle World, Chu Yuan World... Could it be that all these Newbie Worlds were also formed from a Life Dominator, whose remains are hidden inside the world core? Was this their own choice, or was it intentionally designed by some transcendent being? So, this Yama... should I kill her, or not?’

”Traveler, hurry up! Put on the Abyss Gazer Battle Armor!”

Luo Ye yelled, his voice laced with urgency.

At that exact moment, Yama lifted her head slightly. A light flared within her eye sockets as she opened her mouth and spoke: ”Yoa sha pi, slasla di!”

Wang Yi frowned. ’That’s not the Ancient Divine Language,’ he thought. ’It sounds like she’s cursing at me!’

”Slasla di, slasla di! Ahmu gawde, yoa luse!”

Yama spoke again, and as she did, two arrow-headed beams of red light shot from her eyes toward Wang Yi.

Wang Yi waved his sleeve, dispersing the two red beams. ”You’re courting death!” he snapped.

Luo Ye screamed again, ”Quick, the armor!”

But Wang Yi waved his hand dismissively. ”When I, a Traveler, decide to kill someone, what need do I have for armor?”

With that, he leaped from the Bronze War Chariot. His body pulsed with power as he activated Panwu’s Great Power Divine Techniques. With a mere thought, his Mountain and Sea Divine Techniques also unleashed their might, causing six Qiankun Universe Blades to materialize behind him.

Wang Yi then drew the Cyan Blade Sword from his back and activated his Great Grade Celestial Immortal Divine Techniques as he charged toward Yama.

”Om Mani Padme Hum!”

As Wang Yi chanted the Six-Character Mantra, the Qiankun Universe Blades behind him transformed into innumerable Starlight Flying Swords. Like a school of fish, they swarmed around Yama, then suddenly converged, forming a vortex of sword light that began to tear her apart!

After half a minute of this assault, the vortex abruptly parted to form a path. Wang Yi strode into the opening, brandished his Cyan Blade Sword, and executed his Infinite Swordsmanship, unleashing a wild flurry of strikes!
