The Adventures of an Overpowered Knight in Another World

Chapter 31 - 31- Demons Attack

Gwen hurriedly created some distance. However, in front of the skill that Rolan was about to show her, distance was meaningless.

No matter how much distance she created or how fast she was, the skill would hit her no matter what.

”[Radiant Ascension]” Rolan shouted in a voice so loud that the entire coliseum was drowned by it.

The next second, a small part of the sky above the stage they were in brightened, and a pillar of light fell from the sky. The scene was so visually impactful that all the battles on the stage stopped temporarily as all eyes focused on the sky.

Even the commanders of the seven great knight orders strained their necks and looked at the sky with slight wonder in their eyes.

BOOM... Then, with a blinding speed, that pillar of light fell onto the stage, shaking the entire place and creating a deep crater that was more than three meters wide.

Near the edges of the crater, Gwen could be seen fallen on the ground on her buttocks as she stared on with wide eyes at the devastating power and speed of the attack. If Rolan deliberately didnʼt change the trajectory, then she would be...

Gwen looked at the crater and gulped. Finally, she threw her sword down and surrendered.

OHHHH... the crowd cheered at the display of skill and the thrill of battle. While the knights and their commanders wondered what skill the squire from the Temple of Light used, on the stage, Rolan helped Gwen to stand up.

”Are you alright?”...

”Yes”...

Gwen dusted her clothes and got up. She then looked at the squire, hesitated for a while and asked ”What was that skill just now?”...

”Oh? Ah, that” Rolan scratched his cheeks and explained beamingly ”It is a new skill that Commander Reinhardt created. If you join the Temple of Light order, you can also learn it... haha”.

Although he was casually mentioning it, he didnʼt expect her to reply positively.

”Iʼll think about it”.

The battles continued, the part of the stage that was destroyed was repaired quickly, and more and more participants went up to display their skills. Of course, after the previous thrilling fight, most of the battles appeared boring and visually less stimulating.

Moppo and the other level 4 also went up the stage and the result was no different. They all tasted defeat at the hands of the squires they went against. Not everyone was like Gwen, who for some reason, already had combat experience.

Before long, the third test was also over.

.

.

The sky was painted with an orange hue, with birds flocking in the sky, returning to their nests. It was time to announce the results.

The participants all stood on the stage at attention, with the eyes of the commanders of the knight orders focused on them.

Just as the results were about to be declared, suddenly ominous dark clouds covered the sky and an unnatural darkness surrounded the colosseum.

”Kehehe.... This is great... this is really great. All the high ranking knights and commanders gathered in one place. You are truly asking to get yourself annihilated”.

Out of nowhere, a deep, grating voice that was repulsive to the ears sounded, followed by the appearance of numerous shadowy figures in the sky.

Bat like wings, sharp claws, crimson eyes and crooked bodies. Their forms were hideous, covered in pitch black fur and radiating an evil energy that corrupted anything it came in contact with.

”Demons!!”

Who else could these beings be other than the tumor of this world, the demons?

Panic rose among the crowd, and the knight orders quickly got up from their seats to resolve the situation.

”Gargoyles?! What are they doing here? No, how did they reach all the way inside the capital? What are the lookouts and guards doing?” the commanders questioned and hurriedly handed out orders.

”Divide yourself into teams and spread across the capital. Ensure the peopleʼs safety at all cost”...

”Kehehe... donʼt bother, you all are trapped inside.”

From among the Gargoyles, a single figure stepped forward. He bore a humanoid form, his appearance deceptively close to human yet undeniably vile. His skin was pale, with veins of dark crimson snaking across his body, giving the illusion of something rotting from within.

His eyes were a stark, soulless black with thin slits of glowing gold that cut through the void like piercing daggers. His features were sharp and regal, and he wore a jagged black armor that pulsed faintly with infernal energy, showing his standing among the demon army.

”A high ranking demon!!”

High ranking Knights and Commanders who had tons of years of experience fighting demons, easily recognised the demon standing in the sky.

Among the demon lordʼs army, there were ranks, and the closer they were to the top, the more human looking and dangerous they were.

Looking at the demonʼs appearance, he was clearly quite high in the hierarchy. Which begs the question even more, why and how did it manage to infiltrate inside their capital, the heart of their kingdom?

As if its appearance was not enough, the words it spoke raised goosebumps among the knights. To their horror, they realised that there was some kind of invisible barrier stopping them from going out of the coliseum.

”This is a very high ranking barrier...” Vanessa touched the barrier and commented.

”Kehehe... I took the liberty while you were all distracted by the knight exam to set up a barrier around the coliseum. And while all of you are trapped inside, I will slaughter every human in this city and run the streets with rivers of blood” The demon cackled.

”You dare!!” one of the Commanders of the seven great knight orders thundered.

”Members of the Thunderstorm Brigade hear me. We shall break out of this barrier and protect the people. Follow me”.

The Thunderstorm Brigade roared. With their commander, they charged out of the barrier. However, the moment they touched the edges, they were all repelled back with a powerful backlash.
