Martial God Asura

“Big brother.”

Little Fishy and the others were nervous, but there was nothing they could do since the cage was nigh indestructible to them. They couldn’t hope to break free of it with their strength.

“Oi, c-c-can’t you use another incense stick? That one is a-a-about to go out!” Wang Qiang shouted indignantly.

But the black monstrous beast paid no heed to him.

“Chu Feng, why don’t you let me give it a try?” Eggy offered her help, though she didn’t come out on her own accord. She respected Chu Feng’s decision.

“Eggy, I suspect this is a part of the trial, too. I’ll have to do it alone,” Chu Feng said. He turned to the spirit formation gate and shouted, “Brother Ye, come in!”

Ye Xiancheng pointed to himself in bewilderment. “Are you calling for me?”

Those outside could now hear the voices of those inside, too.

“He should be calling for you,” Ye Xiancheng’s parents said.

Ye Xiancheng entered the spirit formation gate, but he didn’t venture too far away from the entrance like Eighth Zhao. He knew he was nowhere strong enough to join the battle, and going too deep inside would expose him to great danger.

Despite understanding the risk, he still came in here because he trusted Chu Feng.

Chu Feng said, “Lend me your God Armament spear.”

“All right.” Ye Xiancheng accepted the offer. He took out the God Armament spear with a flick of his wrist and handed it to Chu Feng.

Chu Feng took the God Armament spear and inspected it, only to toss it back. He clarified with a sigh, “I’m referring to the golden spear embedded with jade. You used it back when you were sparring with me.”

“Ah? Are you talking about Lord Jade Immortal?” Ye Xiancheng was startled.

The Ye Immortal Clansmen were taken aback, too. They understood the significance of the spear named Jade Immortal.

“Yes, that one,” Chu Feng said.

Ye Xiancheng whipped out an exquisite God Armament spear that looked as beautiful as an artwork. The spear body was golden, but it was embedded with pieces of emerald jade. Its presence stirred the surrounding natural energies, making it known that it was different from other God Armaments.

“Chu Feng, Lord Jade Immortal is our Ye Immortal Clan’s hereditary treasure. I’m the only one in the Ye Immortal Clan who can control it. Outsiders can’t hope to...”

Chu Feng interjected, “Brother Ye, lend it to me.”

Ye Xiancheng was put in a spot. He would have never entertained the thought of lending the Jade Immortal to anyone else. This God Armament was of great significance to the Ye Immortal Clan, evident from how even he had to respectfully address it as Lord Jade Immortal.

That said, he understood the severity of the situation. If necessary, he was ready to lend Jade Immortal to Chu Feng.

But there was no use doing so if Chu Feng couldn’t earn Lord Jade Immortal’s acknowledgement. Forcefully wielding Lord Jade Immortal would only result in a backlash.

But since Chu Feng insisted on it, and knowing time was of essence, he tossed Jade Immortal over and said, “Be careful, Brother Chu Feng.

Chu Feng grabbed Lord Jade Immortal and brandished it. The world shook. An aura that was an amalgamation of golden and green flowed from the Jade Immortal into Chu Feng’s body.

“Surely not?” Ye Xiancheng was dumbstruck.

“How is that possible?”

Ye Xiancheng’s parents and the Ye Immortal Clansmen were flabbergasted. They wondered if they were seeing things.

Jade Immortal had a reputation of being difficult. Even Ye Xiancheng’s parents were unable to control it. Of the entire Ye Immortal Clan, Ye Xiancheng was the only one who could wield it, but even he only earned its acknowledgment after obtaining the Immortal Legacy.

Yet, an outsider like Chu Feng earned Jade Immortal’s acknowledgement so easily?

“Good spear.” Chu Feng looked at Jade Immortal with a satisfied smile.

“Brother, y-y-you need to be careful. That fellow is a c-c-cunning one!” Wang Qiang shouted. He knew Chu Feng was strong, but the black monstrous beast was no pushover either.

Chu Feng flashed a confident smile at Wang Qiang and the others and said, “Don’t worry. It’s thanks to you that I was freed from the cage. Leave the rest to me. I’ll bring you out here safe and sound.”

“Chu Feng, my fighting prowess might be weakened from the earlier battle, but are you certain you can handle me alone?” the black monstrous beast scoffed.

Despite being faced with the black monstrous beast’s provocation, Chu Feng clasped his fist at the black monstrous beast and said, “Please guide me, elder.”

Shoosh!

Holding his spear in a single hand, Chu Feng charged at the black monstrous beast. He had no intention of using any martial skills because he had understood the other party’s weakness. The only way to defeat him was through close-quarter combat.

The two approached.

Flashes of black and golden clashed to a loud explosion, unleashing sparks and shockwaves into the surroundings. Chu Feng and the black monstrous beast were clashing with each other.

“Chu Feng, you’re indeed strong.” The new king narrowed his eyes.

The black monstrous beast was indeed weaker than before, or rather, he had lowered his fighting prowess as he was only fighting with an individual now. Nevertheless, he was still a fearsome adversary.

Yet, Chu Feng was able to deal with the black monstrous beast with ease. This was testimony to his strength.

This tempted the new king to spar with Chu Feng.

Just then, Chu Feng suddenly spoke aloud, “Thank you for your help, Brother Ye. Please wait for me outside.”

He was merely worried that Ye Xiancheng would be in danger, but it also showed that Chu Feng had yet to go all out against the black monstrous beast, considering how he still had the energy to chat.

“All right.” Ye Xiancheng knew he would only be a baggage if he stayed behind, so he didn’t hesitate to turn around and leave.

As soon as Ye Xiancheng stepped out of the spirit formation gate, his parents rushed up to him and asked, “Xiancheng, how did that happen? Did you say something to Lord Jade Immortal?”

“I didn’t say anything. It’s not as if Lord Jade Immortal would listen to me anyway,” Ye Xiancheng replied with a sigh.

“Doesn’t that mean that Chu Feng has truly received Lord Jade Immortal’s acknowledgment?” Ye Xiancheng’s parents asked.

“That looks to be the case.” Ye Xiancheng turned around to look at Chu Feng.

At the same time, the Heavensword Sacred Palace’s Palace Master observed the battle from the formation she was standing in. She had no idea what happened inside the spirit formation gate before it turned transparent, but she could fathom a guess.

So, she sent a voice transmission to Tianjian Canhua, saying, “Canhua, your talent might rival Lord Qingyuan, but there are many talented figures in this era. You have many rivals. It’s not just Chu Feng; none of those juniors are to be underestimated. You must keep your guard up and keep pace with them.”

Tianjian Canhua asked, “Lord Palace Master, is that monstrous beast that powerful?”

“He’s an entity I don’t stand a chance against,” the Palace Master replied.

Tianjian Canhua’s face turned grim.
