Martial God Asura

“Ah, I have wrongly blamed you,” Song Yun, who happened to land next to the new king, turned to him and said with a smile.

She had thought the new king was idling around, but in truth, the latter had merely opted to take on a supportive role to protect them during critical moments.

“I’m only doing this to rescue Chu Feng,” the new king replied.

The black monstrous beast turned to the new king. “It’s you again? I guess I’ll have to eliminate you first.”

The black beast sneered as he charged at the new king.

Unfazed, the new king prepared for battle. His strengths were not limited to defense.

But the black monstrous beast suddenly changed trajectory and charged at Bai Yunqing. This time, his attack was not aimed at Bai Yunqing’s neck but his head, and his killing intent could be clearly perceived by everyone.

Boom!

Bai Yunqing was slammed into a formation pillar, but he was unharmed because the new king’s black aura armor had manifested on him as well. The black aura armor could block fatal attacks while cushioning impacts, making it tough to deal with.

Wang Qiang and the others rushed to Bai Yunqing’s side to protect him.

Even if Bai Yunqing was clad in the black aura armor, they couldn’t let the black monstrous beast continue making his moves against him.

But once Wang Qiang and the others arrived at Bai Yunqing’s side, the black monstrous beast suddenly retreated into mid-air before turning to face the new king.

“That black aura armor is indeed a formidable means, but it’s more suited for personal use. You’re only straining yourself if you use it to protect others. You won’t last long at this rate.”

Only then did the crowd realize that the new king’s aura had weakened considerably.

That explained why the new king had only momentarily manifested the black armor to protect them before dispelling them right away. As the black monstrous beast had said, using the black aura armor on others took a toll on the new king.

“You can’t hope to match for me, not when a member of your group is dragging you down. How do you plan to deal with this situation? Are you going to abandon him, or will you continue in this manner until I crush all of you? Or will you dawdle around until the incense stick burns out and Chu Feng dies?” the monstrous beast asked.

He was explicitly labeling Bai Yunqing as dead weight.

“Someone your age shouldn’t be sowing discord. We won’t give up on our brother,” Xianhai Shaoyu said. He patted Bai Yunqing’s shoulder, not wanting the latter to feel burdened.

Despite not being close with Bai Yunqing, he trusted Chu Feng’s eye for people. That was enough reason for him to do everything he could to protect Chu Feng’s friends.

Bai Yunqing finally opened his eyes.

He didn’t look gloomy or down. Instead, he formed hand seals and conjured a series of translucent talisman papers carrying the word ‘Protection’. These talisman papers were conjured not from spirit power but martial power.

With a wave of his sleeves, the talisman papers flew toward Wang Qiang and the others before dissipating into a wisp that fused with their clothes.

Wang Qiang and the others sensed something.

Wang Qiang grinned. “Brother Bai, y-y-you’re better than I thought!”

“This is all I can do. I’m counting on you to rescue big brother Chu.”

Bai Yunqing changed his hand seal, and white auras swiftly shrouded Wang Qiang and the others. These white auras healed their injuries and restored their energies. Even the new king’s weakened aura was immediately restored to normal.

This was a powerful healing energy channeled by martial power.

On top of healing injuries, the healing energy also rejuvenated their spirits, putting them in their tip-top conditions. This was a powerful means indeed.

“Leave the rest to us,” Xianhai Shaoyu said as he brandished his God Armament and charged into the air.

The others, except for the new king and Bai Yunqing, followed suit. They simultaneously unleashed their rank three God Taboo Martial Skills. They had secretly discussed and agreed on this earlier.

It appeared to be an all-out assault, but in truth, it was another probing attempt. They needed to verify if martial skills worked on the black monstrous beast or not.

Faced with so many rank three God Taboo Martial Skills, the black monstrous beast was forced to take evasive maneuvers. Yet, when the shockwaves finally dissipated, it remained unharmed.

“Focus on the offense. Leave all defense to me,” the new king said.

“Got it,” Xianhai Shaoyu replied.

The new king descended to Bai Yunqing’s side and said, “Bai Yunqing, right? Can I trust you?”

“Of course,” Bai Yunqing replied confidently.

Using the black aura armor to protect the others took a toll on him, but Bai Yunqing’s healing energy could keep him in tip-top condition and alleviate the burden. With Bai Yunqing’s support, he could better protect the others, allowing them to make bolder moves.

Bai Yunqing didn’t disappoint the new king, and the new king didn’t disappoint Wang Qiang and the others.

Openings were bound to appear when a cultivator focused on offense, but each time the black monstrous beast discovered an opening and tried to exploit it, the new king’s black aura armor would appear in time to protect them.

This allowed Wang Qiang and the others to go further in their attacks.

Soon, Little Fishy discovered an opening in the black monstrous beast’s attacks and plunged her God Armament sword wrapped in a blue aura toward the latter’s dantian.

“Hmph!” The black monstrous beast harrumphed.

His scales flared once more, and the cicada calls echoed again.

But this time, the word ‘Protection’ appeared on the robes of Wang Qiang and the others, protecting them from the sonic attack. That was the true purpose of Bai Yunqing’s talisman paper!

That allowed Little Fishy to push through with her attack.

But what happened next caused the crowd’s faces to warp in horror.

Little Fishy had devoted ample strength to this attack, and for that reason, her blade shattered.

In contrast, the black monstrous beast was also sent flying backward. His armor had retracted in this critical moment to block Little Fishy’s fatal attack.

“Shit! How is he that h-h-hard? How are we going to defeat someone like t-t-that? Why don’t you just kill us straight!” Wang Qiang cursed.

Even imbuing martial skills in weapons to amplify the destructive prowess didn’t work.

The black monstrous beast was ridiculously sturdy. It felt nigh impossible to breach his defense. How were they supposed to defeat an enemy like that?

“You don’t have much time left. Are you going to give up?” the black monstrous beast sneered.

Little Fishy and the others tasted despair. They saw no way of defeating the black monstrous beast, given the little time they had left.
