Martial God Asura

It was a boundless plain. A massive blood moon covered half of the sky, casting a blood-red glow over the realm. The ground was neither covered in grass nor barren; it was stacked with layer after layer of carcasses.

Mountains could be spotted here and there, but there were carcasses of gigantic monstrous beasts.

These carcasses must have been powerful cultivators or world spiritists when they were alive, evident from the traces of their cultivation that lingered even though they had been dead for a long time now.

Their combined lingering might was quite terrifying.

But what was more striking was the sinister air, so much so that even Eighth Zhao, who had never shied away from murder, felt chilled. The cause of it was not the carcass but a figure who stood in the distance.

Despite being far away, his presence commanded attention. He was three meters tall, and he appeared humanoid even though he was not a human. He wore no clothes, and there was no need for him to wear them as his body was covered in scales reminiscent of armor.

He kneeled on the floor like an unmoving statue, but he was no statue. Behind his head were countless strands of hair that flickered around like a living being.

He emanated the aura of a rank five Heavenly God, but the pressure he gave off was not just because of his cultivation. His gaze was arrogant and domineering. He was the culprit behind the massacre here.

He looked at the Heavensword Sacred Palace’s members as if they were prey despite being outnumbered by them.

“Get in formation!” the Heavensword Sacred Palace’s Palace Master roared, shattering the stifling atmosphere. She dared not let her guard down against such an entity, so she ordered her palace members to activate the Heavensword Sacred Formation right away.

Moments later, the palace members’ faces darkened. To their horror, they couldn’t form their formation.

“Hah...” the black monstrous beast scoffed. “You’ll have to count on yourselves here.”

The palace members’ faces paled. The voice had not come from afar but right in front of them. The black monstrous beast had flitted up to their Palace Master like a specter.

Clang!

The Palace Master drew her sword, only to stiffen up. Her sword had been unsheathed, but the black monstrous beast grabbed it with a single hand.

She formed a hand seal and infused her martial power into her God Armament, causing it to glow brilliantly. This was a Heavensword Sacred Palace’s martial skill. If she swung this blade, the sheer force could slice a smaller realm into halves.

Even if she couldn’t swing it, the sheer energy channeled into the sword would make it incomparably sharp and indestructible.

Yet, the black monstrous beast continued holding onto the God Armament with a single hand without any signs of taking damage.

Seeing this, Eighth Zhao drew his weapon to aid the Palace Master.

The black monstrous beast suddenly turned to look at Eighth Zhao.

No word had to be said. A mere gaze from the black monstrous beast was enough to make Eighth Zhao realize that even though they were both rank five Heavenly God level cultivators, he was no match for the black monstrous beast.

Thus, Eighth Zhao didn’t make a move.

Even the Palace Master stood still. No one dared to take a breath.

“You have one last chance. If you still can’t defeat me, everyone who stepped into the Immemorial Cemetery will die.”

The black monstrous beast released the Palace Master’s God Armament and vanished.

The crowd turned to where the black monstrous beast had first appeared. Indeed, he had returned to his original position, kneeling still like a statue, with his hair wriggling behind him.

“Milord, we are cultivators. It’s normal for cultivators to seek fortuitous encounters. It’s only normal for us to be drawn to the incredible opportunity that the Immemorial Cemetery has to offer. We don’t mean to cross you. Will you spare our lives?” Eighth Zhao tried to seek other methods to resolve this situation, but the black monstrous beast refused to reply.

The Palace Master sheathed her sword and left.

Eighth Zhao knew negotiation was futile, so he left as well.

Chu Feng and the others worriedly rushed up to the Palace Master and Eighth Zhao when they returned. They couldn’t help noticing their poor complexions. Fortunately, they were unharmed.

“Father, are you injured?” Zhao Zhuyin anxiously asked. She was worried as Eighth Zhao’s complexion looked terrible.

“I’m fine,” Eighth Zhao replied with a resigned smile. He looked like he had suffered a huge blow.

It was not just Eighth Zhao. Everyone from the Heavensword Sacred Palace, including their Palace Master, had the same expression. Their faces revealed their despair.

“Elder, it didn’t work out?” Chu Feng asked.

“Haa...” Eighth Zhao first let out a bitter smile. “At least the Heavensword Sacred Palace’s Palace Master drew her sword and somewhat clashed with the other party, but I didn’t even have the courage to do so. We might both be rank five Heavenly God level cultivators, but the gap between us is as good as heaven and earth. We might be destined to die here.”

The Zhao Immortal Clansmen reacted the strongest to his words.

Their clan chief had always been fearless. The entity in there must have been truly fearsome for him to utter such words.

“What is the nature of the person in there? Is it a formation entity? Or a real living being?” Chu Feng asked.

The Palace Master replied, “He should be a real living being.”

She waved her sleeves and drew out the black monstrous beast.

Chu Feng’s heart clenched up.

Back when Yuwen Yanri obtained the legacy and received the imprint, Chu Feng attempted to analyze the imprint with his Three Realms Divine Eyes, only to be transported into a dark realm. There, he met a humongous being kneeling in the middle of space.

That being was the one who told him about the Seven Stars Orbs, which led him to suspect that the other party was the master of the Immemorial Cemetery. He might not have seen the other party’s face, but he did see a rough outline.

It was similar to the figure whom the Heavensword Sacred Palace’s Palace Master drew.
