Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 2023: Chapter 1567: Wen Yan’s Words

To Bai Xiaosheng, Wen Yan seemed to belong to the exceptionally intelligent type. Despite not having many interactions, Bai Xiaosheng had a profound understanding of him.

While Bai Xiaosheng was attempting a subtle inquiry, Wen Yan had already deduced, from a few words, that Bai Xiaosheng was investigating Landvo.

Bear in mind, Landvo and Bai Xiaosheng are both high-ranking, one being the Business President and the other the Executive President.

Daring to speak such words directly, Wen Yan could be considered ”extremely irresponsible,” but it was also quite audacious.

It was precisely because, someone as clever as him, could speak to Bai Xiaosheng so ”irresponsibly,” indirectly revealed an attitude—he trusted Bai Xiaosheng, believing their relationship was close enough to speak openly!

Wen Yan had mentioned early on that he was willing to be friends with Bai Xiaosheng and initially offered assistance, facilitating cooperation between Bai Xiaosheng and Soruns, between the Asia and European regions.

Even just as friends, achieving this level was enough.

Bai Xiaosheng is no fool, he could clearly think of this.

Holding the phone, Bai Xiaosheng pondered for a moment and decided that since he contacted Wen Yan, he trusted him and would tell the truth.

Even if Wen Yan had issues, and to take an extreme step back, if Wen Yan was indeed bought by Landvo and deceived him, it would only result in losing some original evidence, merely increasing the difficulty of dealing with Landvo.

After all, with Bai Xiaosheng’s cautious nature, he wouldn’t submit all evidence at once.

Compared to the consequences, recognizing whether Wen Yan was genuinely friendly or harbored ill intentions was equally important for Bai Xiaosheng.

With that in mind, Bai Xiaosheng frankly said over the phone, ”You’re right, Wen Yan, I am indeed investigating dirt on Landvo, and I already have some... solid evidence!”

Bai Xiaosheng even omitted the ”Mr.” when addressing Wen Yan, sending a signal to the other party.

From the other end, Wen Yan also sensed this subtle change and chuckled, ”From what I know about Bai Xiaosheng, once you know there’s an issue, you will thoroughly investigate to get a clear understanding! When you were Senior Affairs Officer in the Asia region, I already noticed your hatred for evil and your strong investigative abilities. Honestly, if you weren’t in such a powerful position as Executive President, I would have tried everything to recruit you to my side!”

Wen Yan seemed to have an unparalleled admiration for Bai Xiaosheng.

Hearing him say this, Bai Xiaosheng also gave a light laugh, ”So, it seems I unknowingly lost an early chance to advance to headquarters.”

Wen Yan laughed heartily at that.

”Come on, even if we transferred you, your position wouldn’t be very high, and certainly not comparable to Executive President.” Wen Yan said.

With a few words, their relationship seemed to have become even closer.

”Let’s talk business, Sheng, how much evidence have you gathered against Landvo? If it’s irrefutable, I will help present it to the higher-ups and advocate for a group investigation against Landvo!” Wen Yan confidently assured Bai Xiaosheng, making a promise.

Landvo isn’t just an ordinary person but the head of one of the group’s six business divisions, truly high-ranking!

Even though Wen Yan is a senior executive of the headquarters’ seventh department, the Monitoring Department, moving against Landvo would at least require the decision of the vice directors.

Wen Yan’s offer to help submit the evidence already showed significant support.

”As of now, I have gathered substantial evidence here...” Bai Xiaosheng shared some of the solid evidence with Wen Yan.

Those pieces were important, but they were certainly not the most crucial information they currently held.

Firstly, the more important pieces needed further confirmation; secondly, Bai Xiaosheng, adhering to his prudent principles, planned to disclose them to Wen Yan gradually.

”How long have you been investigating this?” Wen Yan suddenly asked.

”Less than a week, five or six days maybe.” Bai Xiaosheng replied honestly.

The other end, Wen Yan, immediately expressed admiration, ”In just five or six days, you’ve found this much, impressive!”

Subsequently, Wen Yan said seriously, ”However, being able to talk to me about Landvo’s issues, this probably isn’t enough. Does it mean you still have a large amount of evidence that hasn’t been confirmed? I believe what you’ve disclosed is just the beginning, the key part comes later!”

Wen Yan could clearly sense this, which did not surprise Bai Xiaosheng.

I already said, he’s an intelligent person, particularly so!

”Indeed, I do have a batch of unverified evidence, and I can’t speak recklessly. I need time to investigate, but not too much time!”

”If my evidence can initiate a formal investigation of Landvo at headquarters, I believe your gains will be even greater!”

”Given Landvo’s position, he represents a significant performance! Taking him down could elevate you, Mr. Wen, even further!”

Bai Xiaosheng’s last statement was half-jokingly said.

The reason Bai Xiaosheng mentioned this was because everyone does things for certain gains. Relying solely on momentary zeal, it’s sometimes difficult to persist to the end. If you encounter setbacks, original intentions might change.

Bai Xiaosheng was making this matter profitable for Wen Yan.

”To elevate me, huh? Let’s not. This discovery is thanks to your investigation, Bai Xiaosheng, any credit should be attributed to you.” Wen Yan replied with a laugh.

”I don’t deserve that.” Bai Xiaosheng also laughed.

Nevertheless, if Wen Yan truly shared some credit, Bai Xiaosheng would not refuse.

Adding some accomplishments to the path of advancement would make him happy. After all, the legacy journey has already been six years, and the road ahead is bound to be even more arduous.

”In any case, ensure things are steady on your end. Try to expedite the investigation as much as possible. I will send you my private encrypted work email shortly, you can send things to me there. For safety’s sake, electronic versions are sufficient; for physical evidence, I’ll need you to come to the headquarters and present it to the vice directors in person!”

Wen Yan’s words were open, providing reassurance to Bai Xiaosheng.

He was clearly conveying that he wouldn’t appropriate the original evidence.

”Alright.” Bai Xiaosheng immediately responded.

”Also, be careful in South America!” Wen Yan specifically added as a reminder.

Landvo’s reputation hasn’t been great, and in South America, he acts like a local overlord. Coupled with issues of occupation and operating gray industries, if cornered, he might act unconstrained.

”Thanks a lot!” Bai Xiaosheng expressed gratitude.

However, Bai Xiaosheng then asked Wen Yan, ”Doesn’t your department have any grasp of Landvo’s actions?”

Actually, during the conversation with Wen Yan, Bai Xiaosheng could sense that Wen Yan was aware of Landvo’s situation, regardless of extent, he certainly knew something.

There was a moment of silence on Wen Yan’s end, then he candidly admitted, ”We do have some evidence against him! With yours added, we should be able to initiate an investigation! Previously, we didn’t want to alert him prematurely, but with your involvement, there’s no need to wait now.”

Wen Yan’s frankness led Bai Xiaosheng to smile in relief.

I knew it; Landvo’s actions couldn’t have gone unnoticed by them!

On the phone, Wen Yan earnestly said, ”Bai Xiaosheng, I look forward to handling him with you!”
