Transmigrated as The Best Female Character of the Year

”I...” Melody Monroe was speechless.

’Damn these capitalists!’

”This income will be deposited into your studio’s account. Next time, you can invest in choosing a script yourself.”

Melody Monroe: ...

’Damn capitalists... sometimes they can be a little endearing.’

”Thank you, darling,” Melody Monroe immediately said, her voice dripping with sweetness.

”So you’re not going to refuse me anymore?”

”I can’t refuse you,” Melody Monroe said with a smile, shaking her head.

But Evan Fairchild’s smile was even wider than hers. ’Looks like the tactic was a success after all,’ he thought.

’At least this way, his wife won’t keep such a strict accounting with him, treating him like a mere business partner instead of a husband.’

”Come have some soup.” Evan Fairchild took her hand and led her to the dining table.

Gazing at the bowl of soup, Melody Monroe couldn’t help but exclaim in admiration, ”Your cooking is getting more and more incredible. I’ve gotten so used to a bowl of your homemade soup every day that I don’t feel right without it.”

”Then I’ll make it for you every day.”

Melody Monroe brought the bowl to her lips and took a sip, but her brows immediately furrowed. ”Why is this soup a little bitter?”

”I added some medicinal herbs. Caleb White mentioned you have symptoms of poor circulation, so today’s soup is a medicated tonic.”

”Oh, so that’s why. When did he even examine me? How did I not know?”

”When he was treating the frostbite on your hands.”

”He does gynecology too?”

”He treats a bit of everything.”

”Impressive.” Melody Monroe took a few more sips. Despite the bitterness of the herbs, the other ingredients made it palatable enough.

”What’s the status on those anti-fans?”

”You heard about that too?”

”Mm-hmm.” Evan Fairchild nodded.

”I asked Keith Coleman to handle it. The one behind it is Aya Winters. She...” Melody Monroe trailed off.

’In the original novel, Aya Winters collaborated with Starfall and managed to gain some international recognition. Aya’s career had been on a downward slide, but thanks to Starfall, she experienced a professional resurgence.’

’But now, Starfall hasn’t signed with Aya Winters yet. She had no idea how things would play out from here.’

”What about her?” Evan Fairchild asked softly.

”Are you going to work with her?”

”Never.” Evan Fairchild’s reply was absolute. ”Her career in the entertainment industry is over.”

Melody Monroe looked up at Evan Fairchild. His gaze was filled with a tenderness that felt as warm as the sun.

”I was just about to tell you not to work with her. And... you shouldn’t work with any actress you’ve had romance rumors with, either.”

Evan Fairchild smiled, teasing her. ”And why shouldn’t I work with them? Won’t the company’s losses be significant?”

”You just can’t, that’s why!”

Evan Fairchild pulled Melody Monroe onto his lap. ”You have to give me a reason. For instance, ’I don’t like it,’ or ’I’m jealous.’”

”I don’t like it, and I’m jealous,” Melody Monroe admitted without a shred of hesitation.

”Well, in that case, I have to listen to whatever the wife says.” Abruptly, he swept Melody Monroe into his arms and started walking upstairs.

”Wait, what are you doing...” Melody Monroe glanced toward the study. ”Ian is still doing his homework! Didn’t you say you were going to check it later?”

”You’re right, I almost forgot.” Evan Fairchild set Melody Monroe down on the bed, placing a gentle kiss on her forehead. ”Wait here for me.”

”What are you going to do?”

”I’m going to assign that little rascal another two hours of homework.”

Two hours?!

Melody Monroe was dumbfounded.

...

Erin Coleman rushed to find Aya Winters. She had just tried to contact the people they’d hired, only to find she couldn’t get ahold of any of them!

”Don’t tell me we’ve been exposed,” Aya Winters speculated.

”It’s possible.”

”That Keith Coleman guy with Melody Monroe is no pushover. He might not be famous, but he’s methodical and ruthless when he gets to work.”
