Transmigrated as The Best Female Character of the Year

Melody Monroe was coming down the stairs when she heard Evan Fairchild and Ian Monroe discussing this very topic. She immediately stopped in her tracks.

Ian was holding Bunny, about to walk out, when he suddenly saw the figure standing on the stairs.

”Mom,” Ian called out.

Melody walked down the stairs to Ian’s side, glanced in Evan’s direction, and then crouched down to be at eye level with her son.

”Ian, Mom never told you, but Mr. Fairchild is actually your dad.” She still had no idea that Ian had known about this for a long time.

The father and son had been hiding it from her all along.

”Does Mom want me to accept him as my dad?” Ian still cared most about his mother’s opinion.

”Of course Mom wants you to have Mr. Fairchild as your dad. You must have felt how much he cares for you and dotes on you, right?”

”Okay.” Ian nodded. ”From now on, I’ll call him Dad.”

A smile appeared on Melody’s face as she gently pinched Ian’s little cheek. ”You’re such a good boy, Ian.”

Ian could tell that his mom, just like him, had accepted Mr. Fairchild.

’No wonder Mr. Fairchild has been so happy these past few days!’

Evan immediately walked over, put his arm around Melody, and said to Ian, ”Ian Monroe, call me Dad.”

Ian: ...

’He’s not just happy, he’s insufferably smug!’

”Mr. Fairchild, although I’ve accepted you in my heart, I still can’t bring myself to say it. I need some time to get used to it. As for how long that will take, I’m not sure myself, so don’t be impatient, okay?” After speaking, Ian ran outside, hugging Bunny.

Evan watched the small, cheerful figure retreat, so angry he was speechless.

’Is it really that hard to get this little brat to call me ”Dad” in front of Melody?’

Melody quickly tried to soothe him. ”Ian has already accepted you. Just give him a little more time. He probably really isn’t used to it yet.”

”Mm, we’ll take it slow.” Evan smiled and nodded.

’I’ll find a chance to teach this little brat a lesson one of these days!’

”Let’s eat breakfast first.”

”Mm-hmm.” Melody nodded.

”How are the contract termination talks going?”

”I’m still waiting to hear from Rose.”

”If it doesn’t work out, have Keith Coleman handle it.”

”Okay,” Melody nodded. ”Oh, by the way, I need to go out for a bit after breakfast.”

”Where are you going?”

”To my rented apartment to sort out my things. That landlord is so awful, though. He took a year’s rent from me, so I still have a few months left on the lease. Such a waste!”

After she spoke, Melody tore at her piece of bread with force.

Evan: ...

”Still, since I’m moving out, I should probably let the landlord know.” Melody picked up her phone and scrolled through her contacts.

Seeing her actions, Evan’s heart tightened.

”There’s no need. He already took a year’s rent, and the lease isn’t up yet. Let’s wait until you go there to talk about it!”

”Who knows, maybe he’ll refund me the rent for the remaining few months?” Melody found the number saved under ”Landlord 2” and dialed it.

Evan: ...

’A refund! As long as you’re not mad, I’ll even give you the house as compensation!’

The call went through.

At the same time, Evan’s phone also rang.

Melody tilted her head and glanced at Evan. She saw him pick up his phone and place it on the table.

Melody saw the contact name on the phone screen: Wifey.

And below it was her phone number.

Then she looked at her own phone. The contact name: Landlord 2. But something about the number felt off. She remembered the business card Evan Fairchild had given her, and this didn’t seem to be the same number.
