Transmigrated as The Best Female Character of the Year

Back inside, Melody Monroe was starting to regret it. If she had known how scared he was from the beginning, she would have just turned off the movie. Then she wouldn’t have terrified him to the point where he didn’t dare drive home alone.

”Mr. Fairchild, tonight, you can sleep in the master bedroom. I’ll sleep in Ian’s room.”

”Okay.” Evan Fairchild nodded. ”I’ll go take a shower first.”

”Then give me your clothes. I’ll wash and dry them for you.”

Evan Fairchild immediately started unbuttoning his shirt.

Melody Monroe’s face flushed, and she quickly turned away.

’He’s just stripping right here?! Isn’t he going to the bathroom to get undressed?’

A shirt, still warm with his body heat, was draped over her shoulder. She felt her cheeks burn. Thankfully, she immediately heard Evan Fairchild’s footsteps.

He went into the bathroom.

She hurried to the bedroom and took out a new bathrobe she had bought previously.

’I don’t know if this bathrobe will be big enough. Luckily, it’s a white, unisex one. He’ll just have to make do with it for now.’

She knocked on the door and passed the bathrobe through the crack.

About ten minutes later, Evan Fairchild came out, having finished his shower, toweling his hair dry as he walked.

Blushing, Melody Monroe went into the bathroom to pick up his clothes.

”Aren’t you going to use the washing machine?” Evan Fairchild asked when he saw her preparing to wash them by hand.

”Machine washing will make the shirt all wrinkly. I don’t have an iron, only a dryer. Hand washing is just as good.”

Evan Fairchild stood in the bathroom doorway, watching her.

Melody Monroe held his clothes, gently scrubbing them.

A strange feeling stirred in Evan Fairchild’s heart.

Her head was bowed, a lock of hair falling beside her ear, framing her stunning side profile. A profound gentleness bloomed in the depths of his heart.

A thought suddenly flashed through his mind.

’If she were to find another man and not want me...’

’I would kill him!’

”Why don’t you go sit outside for a bit? I’ll be done in a second.” Melody Monroe kept her head down, but she could still feel his gaze.

’It was so intense, it could melt a person.’

”I’m scared to be alone,” Evan Fairchild said, matter-of-factly.

Melody Monroe: ...

She couldn’t help but lift her head to look at Evan Fairchild.

His tall, well-built frame was stuffed into a small bathrobe, so tight it could barely contain him.

In that state, he looked just like a giant baby.

’Thankfully, his good looks saved the day. Otherwise, the sight would be too much to bear.’

”I’m done washing.” Melody Monroe picked up the basin of clothes and walked out.

Evan Fairchild followed right behind her.

’It had gotten to the point where he was shadowing her every step.’

’Even Ian wasn’t this clingy.’

Melody Monroe put the clothes in the dryer, grabbed her pajamas, went into the bathroom, and shut the door.

The door blocked Evan Fairchild’s gaze, and she let out a sigh of relief.

’From now on, absolutely no more horror movies with Evan Fairchild!’

When Melody Monroe finished her shower and pulled open the door, she saw Evan Fairchild standing right outside and jumped in fright!

Evan Fairchild’s brow tightened.

”You... you haven’t gone to bed yet?”

”I was waiting for you. I’m scared to sleep alone.”

Melody Monroe: ...

’She was really regretting this to her core! Why did they have to watch a movie? Why a horror movie?’

’No way. Is he going to be too scared to even sleep by himself in a bit?’

Melody Monroe took off her hair-drying cap, picked up the hairdryer, and sat on the sofa to dry her hair. After a few moments, her arm started to ache, so she switched hands and continued.

Suddenly, the hairdryer was snatched away by Evan Fairchild.

’He was actually drying her hair?’

Melody Monroe looked up at him.

The moment her eyes met Evan Fairchild’s, she immediately looked down again.

’Evan Fairchild... He doesn’t... like me, does he?’
