Transmigrated as The Best Female Character of the Year

She was already a good distance away, but she could still hear the voices behind her.

A wave of emotion crashed through Melody Monroe’s heart. It took a long time for her to calm down.

’Thank goodness I didn’t agree to let Evan Fairchild pick me up.’

Rose Shaw had sent a company car to pick them up. The car was waiting nearby, and the driver came over to greet them as soon as he saw them exit the airport.

”Is Rose at the office?” Melody Monroe asked the driver.

”She’s at the office.”

”Winter Kane, take my things back to Golden Garden first. Talia Mercer and I are heading to the office.”

”Okay.” Winter Kane nodded. ”In that case, just drop me off once we’re in the city. I’ll grab a cab from there.”

...

In the conference room, a project manager was still giving his report.

Evan Fairchild glanced at his watch.

”That’s all for today.”

Everyone in the conference room was stunned.

’It’s only five o’clock, not even time to get off work yet! The meeting’s over already?’

’President Fairchild has been leaving work much earlier lately, but isn’t today a bit too early?’

”Leave the report in my office tomorrow,” Evan Fairchild said, then walked out. As he passed through the main office area, he suddenly stopped in his tracks.

The few people behind him stopped as well.

Evan Fairchild’s gaze landed on a computer screen.

The computer was on its screensaver—a photo of a beautiful woman.

Everyone froze when they realized President Fairchild was staring at that specific computer.

’The woman looked familiar, but they couldn’t quite place her.’

The Rockwellburg branch was responsible for entirely different projects than Starfall in Jansburg. As a result, no one immediately recognized the person in the photo.

They could only tell she was a celebrity.

Evan Fairchild walked straight over and woke up the computer.

He found a folder, and upon opening it, saw it was filled with pictures of Melody Monroe.

He selected all of them and permanently deleted them.

The employee who had just gone for water returned to see President Fairchild at his desk. The color drained from his face.

After deleting the files, Evan Fairchild straightened his suit and strode away.

Everyone was utterly bewildered. The employee in question was trembling so much his hand could barely hold his cup.

”Did I do something wrong?”

”Who was that on your screensaver?”

”Melody Monroe!”

”Oh right, Melody Monroe! I knew I recognized her. There’s been so much news about her lately.”

”She got the Angel’s Tears necklace!” a female colleague chimed in.

”What are you talking about? It’s not called Angel’s Tears anymore. It’s the Eternal Heart.”

”Stop changing the subject! Did President Fairchild do anything besides delete the pictures? Am I a dead man?” The employee’s face was ashen.

”President Fairchild owns an entertainment company, and isn’t Melody Monroe signed with Stellaris? I heard Stellaris is competing with our boss for resources! You could have used a picture of any actress from Starfall, but no, you had to pick someone from Stellaris.”

Hearing that, everyone thought it made sense.

But was a single photo really worth President Fairchild making such a scene?

But aside from that, no one could think of any other explanation.

”I’ll never do it again!”

”I have pictures of Melody Monroe on my computer too! Deleting them right now!”

Instantly, the entire office was abuzz as everyone scrambled to scrub their computers clean. They didn’t just delete photos of Melody Monroe; pictures of all other female celebrities were wiped too!

...

Melody Monroe arrived outside Rose Shaw’s office and knocked lightly on the door.

”Come in.”

Melody Monroe pushed the door open and entered. Rose Shaw stood up, gesturing to a nearby sofa. ”Have a seat.”
