Transmigrated as The Best Female Character of the Year

Thank goodness she hadn’t told Ian she was coming back today.

’Otherwise, how could she face Ian in this state?’

”Rose, could you please take me to my apartment?”

”Okay.” Rose Shaw started the car and drove off.

By now, the sun had set. The streetlights flickered on in rows, and the roads grew busier with traffic.

Rose Shaw drove very, very slowly.

After dropping off Melody Monroe, she would have nothing else to do, and more than that, she didn’t want to return to her place alone.

”Melody Monroe, you were treated unfairly today.”

”Rose, let’s not dwell on what happened today. Even if Lana Sheffield wasn’t relying on President Sterling, she still has the powerful Sheffield Family backing her.”

”What I’m afraid of is that you’ll endure it, but she won’t let it go.”

”President Sterling won’t let her meddle in Stellaris’s affairs,” Melody Monroe said softly. ’At least, not right now.’

As long as Christopher Sterling was around, Lana Sheffield wouldn’t dare to go too far.

Although Melody Monroe really disliked how Christopher Sterling was the cause of Rose Shaw’s troubles, she had to admit that when it came to work, he had always been extremely meticulous and fair in his dealings.

In the original novel, the original host had also made a move on Christopher Sterling, and Lana Sheffield had similarly misunderstood, trying everything in her power to drive the original host from Stellaris.

But the original host hadn’t suffered any major losses and had even managed to thrive.

However, because of that incident, the rift between Rose Shaw and the original host had grown wider. In the end, the original host set her sights on Evan Fairchild, aiming to latch onto someone more powerful, which led to a complete breakdown of her relationship with Rose Shaw.

Later, when Rose Shaw discovered that the original host wasn’t her real sister, the two became outright enemies.

From the ending of the original novel, it was clear that Christopher Sterling truly loved Lana Sheffield.

And Rose Shaw was just cannon fodder.

This was also the reason Melody Monroe was still willing to stay at Stellaris for now.

’Once I’ve established a certain status and saved up some money, I can pursue other opportunities. Then, I’ll have the power to choose.’

Rose Shaw trusted Melody Monroe’s judgment. Although she couldn’t understand why President Sterling had fallen for Lana Sheffield, she knew there was no way he would let Lana interfere with company business!

”Rose, there’s something else I want to say, but I’m not sure if I should.” Melody Monroe looked at Rose Shaw, a hint of hesitation in her eyes.

”Whatever it is, just say it.”

”The person you’re in love with... it’s President Sterling, isn’t it?”

Rose Shaw froze for a second. She flicked on the turn signal and pulled the car over to the side of the road.

”How did you know? Was I that obvious?”

”No, not at all. I was just guessing. It’s just that besides President Sterling, there doesn’t seem to be anyone around you worthy of your affection.”

”I’m sorry, Melody Monroe. I should have been the one who was slapped today.”

”Neither of us should have taken that slap! Especially not you! You’ve been quietly cherishing this love, never bothering anyone—the man you love doesn’t even know! Why should you be the one to get slapped?”

Melody Monroe brought this up at this moment because she wanted Rose Shaw to see the situation clearly.

’This way, the slap I took wouldn’t have been for nothing.’

Rose Shaw looked at Melody Monroe, her heart a maelstrom of conflicting emotions.

”Rose... can you please stop loving President Sterling?”

Rose Shaw froze, an even deeper bitterness spreading through her heart.

”No matter what, President Sterling is already married! And his actions prove he’s protecting his wife! The fact that he apologized for Lana Sheffield proves that, deep down, he’s on her side!”

Rose Shaw’s heart ached all over again.
