Emperor’s Domination

“To tame beasts is to control the dao, which is a process of mastering the self.” Li Qiye spoke calmly, his voice indifferent as though revealing a simple truth: “No matter the path one walks, all dao ultimately lead to the same end.”

Phoenix Emperor murmured and savored the moment as if tasting profound enlightenment. After a long silence, he bowed and said: “Thank you, Immortal, for your guidance. I am enlightened.”

“Go.” Li Qiye waved with a faint smile on his lips.

“I shall go and borrow the divine artifact.” He dared not linger and bowed to both immortals.

After he left, Li Qiye let out a light chuckle and said: “No need to be so solemn. These juniors are merely seeking the dao.”

“Divine beasts cannot be controlled.” Xiaoyue answered.

“What about when they reach a state of being one with a pact?” Li Qiye smiled.

“Still no, so this beast mastery dao cannot reach the immortal stage.” She shook her head.

“Hmm, it depends.” He said.

“Young Noble, don’t you think borrowing external help is unwise?” She asked.

“Is it external help once a pact is signed?” He smiled.

“Harmony is impossible, not only because of men but also beasts.” She disagreed.

“Yes. Although Qing He has never reached the higher cultivation realm, she viewed beasts as friends. If she had survived and improved, would divine beasts accept her taming?” He asked.

She didn’t reject the notion this time. After a brief silence, she said: “Young Noble, it’s all theoretical since no one has reached this height yet. It’s rare for a cultivator and a beast to share this level of trust.”

“Rare indeed. Perhaps it is time for divine beasts to change.” He said.

“Please elaborate, Young Noble.” Her expression became serious.

“The divine beast race has been around long enough, withering is only a matter of time.” He said.

“It hasn’t deteriorated to this level yet.” She said.

“Yes, but no race can survive while being sealed off. Although the divine beasts are blessed by the heaven, the primordial race is even more blessed. Look at how far they have fallen.” He said.

“Choosing to hibernate is a way to prevent disaster.” She said.

“More often or not, disasters stem from within.” He shook his head: “Hence your suspicion. Some things are just inevitable.”

She gazed into the distance in ponderance.

***

Venerable Dragon Kingdom was once an illustrious lineage. Despite being a tributary, it was once viewed as an equal during its prime to Rainbow Kingdom.

It had an ancient ancestor following the beast mastery dao. His beast was of the divine level, only second to the elusive mythical ones. It was a tyrant dragon, capable of becoming a true dragon through atavism.

Furthermore, the kingdom possessed a divine artifact made from the remains of a divine beast killed by Empress Hong Tian.

The ancestors of Venerable Dragon were fortunate enough to come across it. Because of its existence, the kingdom has survived until now.

Unfortunately, they were on the decline despite having capable rulers and descendants. The reason was simple – their divine artifact, Dracowrath Saber, was missing.

Today, Venerable Dragon Lord had a pale complexion, clearly anxious about something. He had received a letter from Phoenix Emperor regarding the visit of immortals.

Normally, kingdoms would be honored to have such esteemed guests. However, Phoenix Emperor told him these immortals were here for Dracowrath.

This scared the hell out of him. Where was he going to find it?

Nevertheless, he still ordered the officials to prepare the highest ceremonial welcome. Once they arrived, their appearance surprised him.

He thought immortals would be imposing with incredible auras. However, one looked like a mortal while the other dressed like a maid.

He didn’t dare to show disrespect and walked closer with his head lowered. He knew Phoenix Emperor would not lie to him.

Under normal circumstances, he wasn’t qualified to meet Phoenix Emperor, let alone receive a personal letter.

Since Beastmaster World never had an immortal, they didn’t know what immortals looked like. Nevertheless, these two were the real deal.

Fear engulfed him; he only wished this meeting would be over soon.

“I am not a man-eating beast, don’t be afraid.” Li Qiye said.

“Immortal, this, this lowly one, had never seen an immortal before… and I’ve been timid since childhood.” He stammered.

“It’s good that this world has no immortals. It’s better this way.” Li Qiye said.

“Immortal, I mean, mean no disrespect.” His soul nearly left his body since an immortal’s breath could blow away his kingdom.
