Emperor’s Domination

The woman calmed down and wanted to enter the palace to discover the truth.

“Bam!” She was sent flying without a chance to resist.

Fortunately, this unknown power didn’t wish to hurt her or it could have pierced through her.

“An immortal power.” She became alarmed.

She could fight against primal ancestors but was helpless. The interaction said it all - it belonged to the seal of the progenitor.

This meant she didn’t allow anyone to step inside. Why was this man an exception? Why didn’t it try to stop him?

She stared at Li Qiye’s back with many questions popping up in her mind.

“Come.” Li Qiye stopped and gestured.

She was surprised to hear this but obliged, climbing up the steps. She was mentally prepared to be sent flying again but nothing happened with the immortal power.

“Yo-you can control the palace?” She gasped.

Li Qiye answered with a smile and continued inside. She hurriedly followed him and took a look.

This place wasn’t as magnificent as they said. It looked simple to the point of being poor - no immortal energy or shining lights.

There was a long table in the main hall with three woven mats, nothing else. Li Qiye’s attention fell on a wall with a space in the center.

She looked around and didn’t see anything special, not the legendary treasure or the source. She then copied Li Qiye and stared at the wall.

At the start, she didn’t think this was worthwhile - only a space on a wall. However, she came to realize that it was meant as a spot for a painting or something else.

“This is…” She murmured.

Li Qiye then took out a box won in the major ghost market. He opened it and placed the painting scroll inside on the wall. It was a perfect fit.

When she saw the painting, her eyes shifted between it and Li Qiye. The painting turned out to be his portrait.

The scroll was left behind by Desolate Ancestor but for some unknown reason, it was taken outside. Nevertheless, no one could open the box. Today, Li Qiye brought it back to Desolate Hall.

It seemed ridiculous that someone would place his portrait inside the immortal abode of Desolate Ancestor. However, she recalled a particular legend forgotten at this point. She only knew because her older ancestors told her.

“Bam!” She prostrated and bowed her head several times: “I, Jiang Qingmei, was too ignorant to recognize your return, Dao Ancestor. Please punish me.”

“Ignorance is not a crime.” Li Qiye said.

She became struck by lightning after receiving confirmation. His return was more shocking than Desolate Ancestor’s return.

Wisdom Ancestor once told her the progenitor was waiting for someone to return - a true immortal. Few knew of this, certainly Ancestor Jiang. However, he never talked to her about this.

Since she followed Wisdom Ancestor for a long period, the latter told her this secret during a casual chat.

The first time she heard this, she found it unbelievable. The progenitor was an immortal, so what was this about a true immortal? Desolate Ancestor stood at the apex of the dao, no longer restrained by anything.

However, Wisdom Ancestor’s state was a bit unique. More often than not, the ancestor’s speech and mind resembled that of a child. Therefore, she didn’t know where this was true.

At this moment, after seeing the portrait and Li Qiye, she finally recalled the stories. Wisdom Ancestor told the truth - this ordinary man might be the so-called true immortal.

She had the privilege of meeting a being in the legends. The realization left her frozen.

“Rise.” Li Qiye said.

She didn’t dare to and kept her head lowered: “Ancestor, all of Desolate Frontier shall pay you the proper respect.”

“Conventions are unnecessary.” Li Qiye said.

She stood up and couldn’t help stealing glances at him.

“Feel free to stare, I don’t bite.” Li Qiye said.
