The Young Master's Escaping Bride Who Lost Memories

Chapter 1499: Chapter 1516: Never Coming Back Again

Nangong Zhongli looked at Qin Yi, feeling a wave of complexity in her heart.

”Yes, Qin Yi, thank you for taking care of me during this time.”

Qin Yi took two steps forward.

”Is there really nothing here worth your longing? Must you do this for that man?”

”No! It’s not for him!” Nangong Zhongli suddenly looked at Qin Yi with some agitation.

”It’s just for myself.” She lowered her head again, murmuring, ”All these years, I’ve felt so tired. I just want to leave alone now, to leave quietly.”

”And then? Then you’ll never come back?” Qin Yi asked painfully.

Nangong Zhongli’s gaze fell on her other leg.

Even though a prosthetic had been fitted, sitting in the wheelchair made it not so obvious.

But it was already gone; what could a person who was already disabled long for? Moreover, with her body...no matter where, no matter with whom, she was probably just a burden to others.

Her hand on her knee gradually tightened.

”Maybe, I’ll never come back.” Nangong Zhongli said expressionlessly.

Qin Yi’s entire body stiffened, his face turned pale, and his lips trembled slightly.

He seemed to want to say something, but in the end, he just clenched his fists and turned towards the door.

He rushed to the door, swung it open, and ran out like the wind.

Nangong Zhongli watched his departing figure, her brow furrowed slightly.

The next moment, she got up, moving the wheelchair, and approached the window.

Sitting in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, she saw outside the apartment, Qin Yi was running towards the street.

He ran like a madman, in a certain direction, and Nangong Zhongli’s gaze fell on a small bird on the branch outside the window, chirping enthusiastically as if conversing with its companions.

She pursed her lips, turned, and slowly walked towards the bedroom.

However, as she reached the bedroom, she suddenly heard a deafening knock on the living room door.

The servant hurried to open the door, and right after, Nangong Zhongli slowly turned around, seeing Qin Yi gasping for breath at the bedroom door.

The door to the bedroom was half open, Qin Yi’s face was flushed, so were his eyes, standing at the door, looking at Nangong Zhongli with complex emotions.

Nangong Zhongli looked at him too, for a moment, the air seemed frozen, they just quietly gazed at each other.

But soon, Nangong Zhongli withdrew her gaze, coldly asking, ”Do you have something else to say?”

Qin Yi’s chest heaved, a big man standing there, seemingly holding back a surge of passion, his eyes were shining too, but as soon as Nangong Zhongli’s words fell, his gaze instantly lost all its luster, like a flame extinguished.

He stood foolishly at the door, the servant caught up, timidly calling at the door, ”Miss Zhong Li...”

”It’s fine, you can go ahead with your tasks.”

Hearing this, the servant glanced at Qin Yi, then cautiously turned and left.

Qin Yi reached out, holding onto the door frame.

It seemed only by doing so could he stand steady.

Qin Yi, who always faced danger without compromise, who would never bow even to the most ruthless enemies, only when facing Nangong Zhongli, would become like this...

Just a gentle blow from her, even a glance or a word, would instantly collapse his defenses.

”I... I...” Qin Yi stammered, as if he exerted a lot of effort, and only after a long time, managed to say a complete sentence.
