The Young Master's Escaping Bride Who Lost Memories

Chapter 1479: Chapter 1496: The Whole World Is Filled with His Presence

Nangong Yaoling forcibly pried her hand away, and under the light he finally noticed that her once fair little face was now swollen and red.

”Someone hit you? Xiaonuan, who hit you!?” Nangong Yaoling asked in a dark, heavy voice, his tone seething with blazing fury.

Xiaonuan hurriedly shook her head and turned her face away. ”No... I just accidentally bumped into something...” She tried hard to make her voice sound lighter, but even so, the moment she opened her mouth, fat tears were already falling one by one.

The icy tears fell straight onto the back of Nangong Yaoling’s hand.

Under the light, the man’s handsome face had gone completely grim. Her tears landed on the back of his hand, yet he felt as if sharp knives were stabbing straight into his heart.

The pain almost made him suck in a breath of cold air.

The next second, he suddenly reached out and pressed her head forcefully against his chest.

”I’m sorry... Xiaonuan...” He lowered his head, kissing her hair, speaking in a voice thick with heartache and self-blame. ”I didn’t protect you well enough... I’m sorry...”

His voice was hoarse and low, the kind that could move anyone who heard it.

Xiaonuan finally couldn’t suppress the slight trembling that ran through her whole body. She was like a wounded child—when no adult is around, no matter how badly they’re hurt, how much it hurts, they can grit their teeth and not cry; but the moment an adult comes, offers a few words of comfort, that child can’t help but break down and wail.

Right now, Xia Xiaonuan also wanted to burst into tears in his arms, but she knew she couldn’t. If she did, Nangong Yaoling would definitely be scared out of his wits.

Besides, everything might spiral into something even more terrifying.

Actually, just being able to cry wantonly in his arms for a short while like this already made her feel very, very satisfied.

”I’m fine, really... this isn’t your fault...”

”Xiaonuan...” Nangong Yaoling’s heart twisted in agony, but when he thought about how the person who hurt her was his own closest family, he practically wanted to stab his own heart with a knife.

He wanted to say something, but looking at the woman trembling in his arms like a wounded little kitten, his throat tightened, and in the end he couldn’t say anything at all.

He just held her, letting her cry in his embrace.

No one knew how long it was before her tears finally ran dry and she stopped. He was half-kneeling by the bed, reaching out to wipe away the tear tracks on her face.

”Xiaonuan, don’t worry. I won’t let you suffer for nothing. You’re my woman—I have the right to protect you, not let you suffer any harm. No matter who it is, they have no right to hurt you.”

Xia Xiaonuan bit down on her lower lip. ”I know, but... I really am fine. I’m not hurt, it’s just... hard to take emotionally. I just feel like I... I... maybe really don’t deserve to have... mm...”

She hadn’t finished her sentence when her lips were suddenly sealed.

He swallowed down all the words she was about to say.

His scorching kiss sealed her mouth, the salty tang spreading between their joined lips.

With a kind of punishing fervor, he bit down hard on her lips, yet with heartache and tenderness intertwined, he kept rubbing and caressing her soft lips over and over.

His kiss was deep and burning, as if all his feelings were poured into it; all the thousands of words pressing on his chest were transformed into this lingering, passionate kiss that all but devoured her.

Xiaonuan was kissed by him until she almost couldn’t breathe. Her whole world was his scent, his warmth, his taste, his breath...
