The Young Master's Escaping Bride Who Lost Memories

Chapter 1466: Chapter 1483: You Must Help Me Find That Child

Lan Jinqin, looking extremely agitated, stepped forward and said, ”Officer Huang, you finally came!”

The man smiled and said, ”Madam, long time no see.”

”Yes.” Lan Jinqin smiled, and was just about to speak when something seemed to occur to her. She glanced at the two servants standing to the side.

”You may go for now.”

”Yes, Madam.” The servants replied respectfully, then turned and withdrew.

As Lan Jinqin invited the officer to sit, she saw the servants had already gone far enough, and only then spoke: ”How is it? Officer Huang, the matter I asked you to handle—do you have any news?”

”Madam, here’s the situation. The child you asked me to find—because too much time has passed, and the police station’s files are incomplete, it’s been rather difficult to search. But we did manage to find some clues.”

”What? Clues?” When Lan Jinqin heard the first part, a trace of disappointment flashed in her eyes, but upon hearing the latter part, she stood up again, excited: ”So you mean, you’ve found her?”

”Not yet, for the time being.” The officer answered with deep regret: ”Madam, I’m very sorry. According to the evidence, after the man you mentioned back then committed suicide, there was indeed a little girl. But for some unknown reason, that child was never entered into the records. What we’ve only been able to preliminarily uncover is that at the time, a foreign Chinese man adopted that child.

It’s said that when he adopted her, he requested that the police not disclose any of his information, and apparently even signed a confidentiality agreement. So although we have some leads, they’re still only superficial. And, reportedly, after adopting the child he seemed to have gone abroad. So now it’s really very hard to find any further information about that child... It’s quite possible that she’s already grown up in another country...”

Listening to the officer finish, Lan Jinqin suddenly collapsed back onto the sofa.

”So... you still haven’t found her? Then in the future, is there still any chance of finding her?”

”Well...” The officer answered with difficulty, ”The chances of that are really far too slim...”

Lan Jinqin lowered her head; her face had gone somewhat pale, and her expression was filled with extreme sorrow.

Suddenly, as if something occurred to her, her body went rigid. Something flashed through her mind, making her abruptly widen her eyes and look at the officer.

”Madam, did you think of something else?”

Lan Jinqin looked at the officer. She blinked, hesitated, and only after a full minute did she finally speak: ”Officer, I have one more favor to ask of you. Could you help me investigate another person?”

Seeing the pain on her face, the officer also felt very regretful, and somewhat guilty that he hadn’t been able to help her—after all, Mrs. Nangong had already paid a large sum of money for his assistance. Besides, even putting money aside, with the status of the Nangong Family, if he could help Mrs. Nangong, then the brilliant future he wanted would practically be guaranteed.

Thus, when he heard her request, his eyes lit up slightly, and he almost immediately said, ”Of course. As long as I can be of help to you, I, Huang, am very willing to serve!”

”It’s like this... That child is actually one of a pair of twins. I know about the other child. Back then... my friend placed her in an orphanage... Later, it’s said that orphanage shut down, and the child was transferred somewhere else. I once tried to look for her too, but there were no leads.

But this child... she’s very important to my friend, so... I hope I can trouble you to help me search for her again...”
