The Young Master's Escaping Bride Who Lost Memories

Chapter 1016: Chapter 1036: Mrs. Xia Is in Trouble

After a while, Xia Xiaonuan came out of the bathroom wrapped in a towel. She saw Nangong Yaoling sitting silently on the sofa.

”What’s wrong? Did something happen?” Xia Xiaonuan asked worriedly, seeing his unusual expression.

Nangong Yaoling looked up at her, the desire in his eyes just moments ago had vanished.

He simply smiled and said, ”It’s nothing... just some company issues.” He stepped forward, smiling at her, ”You should rest for a while, I’ll go and talk to Qin Yi about something.”

Xia Xiaonuan smiled and nodded, ”Okay.”

Nangong Yaoling walked out of the room, but the phone call he had just received lingered in his mind.

”What happened?”

”Young Master, there’s trouble with the Xia Family.” Qin Yi’s voice came through.

”What’s going on?” Nangong Yaoling raised an eyebrow and asked.

”Mr. Du passed away two days ago, and just received news that Mrs. Xia had a car accident this morning on her way to the hospital. By the time she was sent to the hospital, she couldn’t be saved... she has already... passed away.”

Nangong Yaoling was taken aback for a moment.

His gaze involuntarily fell on the silhouette in the bathroom.

A flash of pain appeared in his eyes.

”I understand. Don’t let the young lady know about this yet.”

”Understood, Young Master,” Qin Yi replied respectfully.

”Send someone to the hospital to check, have them investigate the exact cause of this accident.”

”Yes!”

Nangong Yaoling walked out of the hotel, and Qin Yi was already waiting in the lobby.

”Young Master, a few days ago, it’s said that Xia Zhennan had a quarrel with Du Fengjun in the hospital over Mr. Du’s will... this matter seems somewhat unusual.”

Nangong Yaoling nodded.

”Find someone to investigate Xia Zhennan, and also retract the project he collaborated on with Situ Yan.”

”Young Master... she’s, after all, Xiaonuan’s biological mother. Shouldn’t... shouldn’t we let Xiaonuan see her one last time?”

Nangong Yaoling clenched his lowered fists.

”Since Xiaonuan’s memory loss, she hasn’t shown much affection for her family. She’s pregnant and her condition isn’t suitable for knowing about this yet. Let’s wait a while before discussing it.”

”Young Master’s consideration for the young lady is truly touching.”

Nangong Yaoling glanced coldly at Qin Yi.

Qin Yi quickly bowed his head.

”Since when did you learn to speak such flattering words?”

”No... Qin Yi is truly... speaking from the heart,” Qin Yi said earnestly.

”Go ahead.” Nangong Yaoling patted his shoulder.

”Yes.”

Xia Xiaonuan lay down on the bed, preparing for a nap.

But she felt like something bad might have happened.

Who did Nangong Yaoling receive a call from?

Why did he suddenly leave?

As she contemplated, Xia Xiaonuan picked up her phone.

She hadn’t contacted Qi Yue for a long time and wondered how things were going on that side.

Thinking of this, Xia Xiaonuan dialed a number.

Qi Yue’s somewhat hoarse voice came through.

”Hello...”

”Qi Yue, it’s me... are you okay?” Xia Xiaonuan asked worriedly.

Upon hearing it’s Xiaonuan, Qi Yue replied, ”Xiaonuan... you’ve finally called!”

”What happened? Did something happen to the Xia Family?” Xia Xiaonuan’s expression changed, asking anxiously.

Qi Yue hesitated, ”Xiaonuan... prepare yourself mentally... I originally didn’t want to tell you... but I didn’t expect you to call...”

”What on earth happened? Is it... did something happen to my mom?” Xia Xiaonuan thought of Mrs. Xia, the last time she saw her, she hugged her tightly and promised to always be by her side, no matter what.
