My Home's Ancient Well Connects to the Martial Arts World

Chapter 255: Chapter 251: Pursuit

Dark clouds hung low, blotting out the moon.

On this pitch-black night, a strong wind rustled the leaves in the forest.

It was autumn, and the night wind was chilling. People usually stayed indoors after dark, so the area should have been deserted.

However, in a forest park in New York, United States...

”WEE-WOO!” ”WEE-WOO! WEE-WOO!”

”WEE-WOO! WEE-WOO!”

The wail of sirens shattered the silent night sky. Red and blue lights flashed relentlessly as a convoy of police cars roared into the forest park.

”They’re in the forest park!”

”The assailants have a hostage! This is tricky—we can’t let the hostage get hurt!”

”The whole world is watching. We have orders from the top to ensure the hostage’s safety. There can be no more mistakes!”

”Move! Surround the park! Don’t let the assailants escape!”

Car doors flew open. Squads of police armed with submachine guns poured out, pursuing the suspects into the park’s woods.

At that moment, in a patch of woods within the park, two criminals, drenched in sweat, ran for their lives. Each held a gun in one hand and a hostage in the other, weaving desperately between the massive trees.

”Akalu, this isn’t working,” one of the criminals said, wiping sweat from his brow. ”These two hostages are a burden. They’re slowing us down.”

”So what do you suggest? We’d be in even more danger without them. If the cops catch us, we’ll lose our only bargaining chip!”

”Don’t worry. One hostage is enough. Kill the other one!”

”Yeah, you’re right.” The criminal named Akalu nodded.

”No! Don’t kill me!” the two hostages shrieked in terror, their faces masks of panic as they trembled uncontrollably.

”Die!” Akalu’s eyes glinted with savagery. He grinned cruelly as he pressed the muzzle of his gun to one hostage’s forehead, his finger tightening on the trigger.

Just in the nick of time—

WHOOSH!

A sound of something slicing through the air echoed in the woods. The two criminals’ vision blurred before they could see anything clearly.

In the next instant, a young man appeared before them, blocking their path.

The moonlight was dim, and the dense foliage blocked what little light there was. In the gloom, the young man’s features were indistinct, leaving only a vague silhouette.

From the silhouette, one could discern a cold face and indifferent eyes. His gaze was like he was looking at two dead men.

With the young man’s arrival, the temperature in the already cool woods seemed to drop even further.

A sudden chill crept into the two criminals’ hearts. They felt an inexplicable panic, their gazes filled with apprehension as they stared forward.

”Who are you? Get out of the way!” Akalu shouted, his eyes filled with deep apprehension. Having lived on the edge for years, his instincts screamed that this young man was terrifying and best left alone.

”Who I am isn’t important,” the young man said. ”What’s important is that I have a question for you.”

”What is it?” the two criminals asked hastily, their voices tinged with anxiety. ’The police are closing in from behind,’ they thought. ’They’ll probably search this area soon. If it’s an easy question, we don’t mind answering quickly.’

”Oh, it’s a question you both definitely know the answer to.” The young man paused. ”Where is your organization’s base? Give me the full address.”

”You’re asking to die!”

”In your dreams!”

The two criminals flew into a rage. ’Our organization’s base is a secret,’ they thought. ’If it’s exposed, the consequences will be unimaginable. Even if we made it back, the organization would execute us. Answering this question is a death sentence.’

”You’ve got a death wish. I don’t care who you are, one bullet will send you to hell!”

Akalu’s expression turned vicious. He couldn’t be bothered to talk anymore and simply raised his pistol and fired at the young man.

BANG!

The gunshot cracked through the air. With a piercing whistle, the bullet shot toward the young man.

But in that split second, the young man moved.

He simply tilted his body and took a small step to the left.

WHIZ!

The piercing bullet flew right past him.

The criminals couldn’t see the bullet’s trajectory, of course, but when they saw the young man still standing, they knew they had missed.

”What happened? Akalu, has your aim gotten worse?” The other criminal frowned, raised his own gun, aimed at the young man, and pulled the trigger.

BANG!

The bullet whizzed through the air but missed again.

’What the hell... How can we not hit him?!’ the two criminals thought, shocked. In disbelief, they began firing wildly.

BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!

BANG! BANG! BANG!

Bullet after bullet flew, and without exception, every single one was dodged. Not one hit its mark.

This time, the two criminals saw it clearly. The young man was dodging bullets—all of them. His speed created a series of afterimages, like a phantom in the dark woods. The sight was absolutely terrifying.

”You... you’re not human! You’re a monster! A monster!”

The two criminals trembled from head to toe, pointing at the young man with shaking hands.

That someone could dodge bullets head-on, moving fast enough to create afterimages... it was simply unheard of.

This young man was, of course, Ye Xing. For someone like him, at the Peak of the Martial Arts Ninth Layer, dodging bullets was quite easy. With his profound cultivation and sharp Perception Power, guns were hardly a threat to him as long as he wasn’t careless.

After buying a large cache of weapons from Frank, Ye Xing had immediately sent them to White Cloud City on the Martial Arts Continent. Once that was done, he had rushed here to this forest park to capture these two criminals and force them to reveal the location of their base.

”You... stay back! If you come any closer, I’ll kill them both!”

The two criminals stared with pure panic in their eyes, shouting in trembling voices. They kept their guns pressed firmly against the two hostages’ heads. If Ye Xing dared to move closer, they would fire without hesitation and take two people down with them.

”Tch. You want to kill someone? First, see if you even have the strength to pull the trigger.” A cold sneer touched Ye Xing’s lips as he walked straight toward them.

”You’re still coming?! We’re gonna shoot!”

Faced with Ye Xing’s steady approach, the two criminals’ faces contorted with rage as they tried to pull their triggers. To their horror, however, they discovered they had lost all their strength. Their bodies went completely limp, and they collapsed to the ground.

’The Five Poison Sect’s Soft Tendon Powder can take down even a Martial Artist, let alone two ordinary people.’ Ye Xing glanced disdainfully at the two criminals, who lay on the ground like heaps of mud.

’I just need an address. Taking two people is a hassle; one is enough.’ Ye Xing frowned, lifted his foot, and stomped on one of the criminal’s heads, killing him instantly with a pulse of True Qi.

He then grabbed the other criminal, activated his Lightweight Skill, and sprinted deep into the forest, vanishing into the night.

Not long after Ye Xing left, the wail of sirens grew louder, and police officers began swarming the area.
