Chapter 250: The Miraculous Chinese Coin

”Ladies and gentlemen, I’m Margaret from New York Television, reporting live from New York International Airport. A serious terrorist attack has just taken place here...”

”Hello everyone, I’m He Ling, a reporter for China Central Television stationed in New York, United States. A major terrorist attack occurred this morning at the New York International Airport. According to statistics, there are as many as seventy-six casualties. Among them, eight are our Chinese citizens—two with serious injuries and six with minor injuries. They have been transferred to major local hospitals for treatment...”

...

”Distinguished viewers, I’m a Japanese reporter stationed in New York... This major terrorist attack has resulted in three deaths and six injuries among our Japanese citizens traveling in the United States...”

”Good evening, viewers. I’m a British television reporter in New York... There have been eleven casualties among British citizens...”

”The US police have cordoned off the scene and are conducting a thorough investigation...”

”A total of thirteen assailants have been killed, but several others have escaped. The US police have dispatched six units in hot pursuit...”

...

New York, United States. The New York International Airport was a madhouse. Countless reporters from newspapers and media outlets swarmed in to cover the story.

News of the major terrorist attack and its casualties spread like a tornado, instantly sweeping across the entire United States and around the globe.

The number of casualties reached several dozen, nearly a hundred people, making it the most severe terrorist attack in recent years.

Because the attack took place at New York International Airport, a hub for travelers from all over the world, the casualties included not only American citizens but also travelers from the United Kingdom, Germany, France, China, Japan, and other countries. The impact was incredibly severe.

At this moment, a large crowd of onlookers had gathered around the plaza, their buzzing discussions creating a clamor. The police had already cordoned off the scene.

This terrorist attack left the American police completely overwhelmed, placing them under immense pressure. If they mishandled this, their careers would be essentially over.

”What do you mean you only caught three? Two of the assailants got away? Useless, absolutely useless! We already had their location, and you still let two of them escape? Do you have any idea what kind of harm those two could do to the public at any moment? Get after them, now! I’ve already notified the FBI; they’ll be sending people too. I don’t care if they’re dead or alive, but you will bring every last one of those bastards to justice!” a middle-aged police officer in the plaza roared into his phone, his face dark with fury.

When the report came in, the New York police had dispatched a large number of officers to the scene. Some went in pursuit of the fleeing assailants, while others were responsible for cordoning off the area, treating the wounded, and other logistical tasks.

The wounded in the plaza had all been transported to nearby hospitals by ambulance, but the bodies lying on the ground had not yet been moved.

Bodies lay in pools of blood—the elderly, young men and women, and even several children had died in the attack.

Of course, besides the civilian casualties, there were also over a dozen bodies of the assailants at the scene. Most of these assailants had bloody holes between their eyebrows. A few had their throats or hearts pierced. All were vital points, every shot fatal and incredibly precise.

In contrast, the Spear Skill used on the civilians was average; many had died only after being shot multiple times. Several police officers were now carefully examining the bodies at the scene.

”What precise Spear Skill! All of them were one-shot kills!”

”Yeah, it must have been a sniper rifle, right? Aiming in advance from a hidden position. Otherwise, it would be hard to be this precise!”

”Not necessarily. With good Spear Skill, a handgun could do it too. I bet the FBI got here early and took down these assailants.”

”Mm, only those freaks from the FBI could have such precise Spear Skill! Good thing somebody finally killed these bastards, otherwise the consequences would have been unimaginable. Our department was a few minutes too late. That was enough time for the assailants to go on a killing spree!”

In the plaza, some officers maintained the cordon and kept order, others examined the bodies, and a few police captains were deep in discussion.

Just then, the middle-aged police officer walked over with a grave expression. In a low voice, he said, ”It wasn’t the FBI. I just spoke with their chief. They didn’t kill the assailants.”

The moment he finished speaking, the police captains froze, bewildered. ”What? Not the FBI? Then who was skilled enough to take down so many of them?”

”I’m not sure. We’ll have to wait for the autopsy report for details,” the middle-aged officer said, his eyes glinting. ”The hero who took them down could be several people, or it could be just one. In my judgment, there were no more than three people involved.”

”Oh, my God, how could one person do it? In just a few minutes, in the middle of a chaotic crowd... It would be hard to even aim.”

”If it was one person, I’d guess it was either Superman or Spider-Man!”

”One person is impossible. It must have been three people, and every one of them was an expert marksman!”

As the captains and the middle-aged white officer were discussing this, an officer in charge of examining the assailants’ bodies ran over. ”Reporting, sir! The preliminary examination of the bodies is complete!”

”Mm, were they killed by a sniper rifle?” the middle-aged officer asked quickly. The other captains pricked up their ears and looked at the forensics officer. In their minds, a sniper rifle was the most likely possibility, since all the dead assailants had been killed with a single, incredibly precise shot.

”It wasn’t a sniper rifle. Nor was it a handgun, rifle, or any other type of firearm.” The officer shook his head. ”These assailants weren’t shot.”

”What?” ”Not shot?”

”How is that possible?” ”If they weren’t shot, then what about the bloody holes in their foreheads?”

The middle-aged officer and the captains furrowed their brows in confusion. ”There must be bullets in the wounds, right?” he asked hurriedly.

”No bullets.” The forensics officer had an incredibly strange look in his eyes. ”There were no bullets... but I did dig these out of the wounds.” As he spoke, he opened his palm. Lying there were several blood-stained coins, covered in crimson. It was obvious: the coins had been shot into the assailants’ heads, killing them just like a Hidden Weapon.

”Oh, my God! Can someone please tell me how you kill people with coins!”

”This is unbelievable!”

The middle-aged officer and the captains were all completely dumbfounded, their faces a mask of utter shock and disbelief.

Shaking themselves out of their stupor, they each took a coin from the forensics officer’s hand and wiped it vigorously on their clothes. Once the blood was completely cleaned off, they examined the coins closely.

”Huh? This... This is... This looks like—”

Every American officer present stared at the coins in their hands, their eyes wide with astonishment.

On the front of the coin was a large Arabic numeral ’1’, and next to it, a circle of Chinese characters: People’s Bank of China. On the back was an image of Beijing’s Tiananmen Gate, topped with five five-pointed stars—the national emblem of the People’s Republic of China!

It was a Chinese coin! Made in China!
