Beast Taming Clan: I Have a Jade Book

Chapter 232: Chapter 231: Restaurant Proposal

After the start of spring, even without activating the array, Lingyun Peak is shrouded in white mist.

The green leaves beside the mountain path are covered in dewdrops, especially the newly sprouted buds, which appear tender and ready to drip.

Throughout the mountain, the chirping of birds and the tinkling of the mountain springs make Lingyun Peak seem even more ethereal.

Everything has returned to its previous state.

On the third floor of the Treasure Pavilion, the Spirit Diagram on the wall has several new red Spirit Fork markings.

The long Eight Immortals Table was also filled with quite a few cultivators, with Ye Xingliu remaining in the main seat.

Only now, the next seat was occupied by Ye Jingcheng, followed by Ye Jingyu and Ye Haicheng.

To be honest, Ye Jingcheng felt slightly apprehensive at the moment.

But after rejecting Taiyi Sect twice, he had no choice but to take this seat.

The invitation from Taiyi Sect was naturally not well-intentioned; Ye Jingcheng did not believe they truly valued his alchemy talent.

His rumored Spirit Body and Tier Two Demon Beasts are likely what they wanted to investigate.

But after all, it’s an Upper Sect, and the Ye Family dared not offend them.

Therefore, Ye Jingcheng’s future as the patriarch was a nailed-down certainty; otherwise, it would be a slap to the sect’s face.

Even now, Ye Xingliu deemed it necessary for him to attend important meetings, and he needed to learn basic patriarch etiquette. Fortunately, cultivators mastered such things fairly quickly.

As patriarch, besides ensuring cultivation is not lacking, one must be well-versed in various aspects of the family; otherwise, being clueless would turn him into a laughingstock.

The patriarchal system of the Ye Family is like the generational hierarchy, changing every forty years, coinciding with new generations being tested for Spirit Roots and given a generational name—if the next generation is unsuitable, the current patriarch retains the position and maintains the status quo.

For example, in this round, if the Jing Generation has no suitable candidates, Ye Xingliu would continue to serve.

Among the Jing Generation, Ye Jingcheng and Ye Jingyu are quite suitable; they would become elders in the next generation, focusing more on cultivation and only participating in decision-making during crucial events.

This system ensures the family strategies don’t remain stagnant like dead water, while the patriarch doesn’t delay cultivation due to constant handling of affairs.

Forty years, neither too long nor too short, fits perfectly.

Ye Jingcheng doesn’t know if becoming patriarch is good or bad, but to him, being able to leverage the whole family to help find spirit medicine seems like a positive direction.

The spirit medicine for his Tier Two Red Flame Pill is particularly difficult to find, not to mention the Tier Two Jade Qilin Pill, Tier Two Golden Scale Pill, and Tier Two Three-Colored Pill.

Including the Advancement Pill for the Peach Wood Demon needs to be found.

Moreover, becoming patriarch would allow him to contact family members at Hidden Peak, who now roam between the Taihang Mountain Range and East Sea Cultivation Realm, making treasure hunting easier.

After all, whether purchasing or obtaining, it’s more convenient than at Ye Family’s Lingyun Peak.

Perhaps when the time comes, Ye Jingcheng won’t need to attend the auctions himself.

“Fourth Uncle, let’s first talk about the family’s loss situation!” Ye Xingliu first looked at Ye Haiyun.

The latter nodded, took out several recorded jade talismans, and began to explain one by one, as they were all Inner Hall members here, no need for any concealment, making the account particularly realistic:

“To the patriarch, during this beast tide, in the Lingyun Peak region, one of the four counties was affected, twelve townships in total, with five townships hit by the beast tide, and more villages, mortal losses exceeding twenty thousand, leaving over fourteen thousand mortals, while around Buqing Mountain, three county districts, nine townships were all affected, and mortal losses are around fifty thousand, leaving fewer than forty thousand mortals!”

“In terms of cultivators, the family lost ten Qi Cultivation Cultivators, thirty Tier One Spirit Beasts, thirty acres of Spirit Field, two Spirit Mountains, and one Spirit Medicine Valley, with the biggest losses at Buqing Mountain and Cloud Valley…”

As Ye Haiyun narrates, Ye Jingcheng roughly understands the loss situation from the beast tide.

“Double the loss data when reporting!” At this moment, Ye Xingliu handed a jade talisman to Ye Jingcheng and whispered.

Ye Jingcheng was stunned but quickly nodded.

The family reports to the sect mainly through Master Jiang from the market.

He, now as the patriarch candidate, naturally handled the submission.

For the Ye Family, the loss was indeed substantial, but the worst-hit was the Li Family area, seemingly an act of cleansing.

The Ye Family reported a bit more; discrepancies of one or two times the data wasn’t much of an issue.

This practice suited the Ye Family.

Meanwhile, Ye Xingliu addressed everyone:

“Let’s briefly discuss the family’s future plans!”

“Firstly, the family is now honored as a Purple Mansion Clan, but the number of cultivators is far from enough. The area controlled by the family now spans over tens of thousands of miles. Although it’s a bit barren, after this beast tide, there’s a considerable buffer time!”

“Cultivators over the age of twenty in the family must assist mortals in completing spring sowing, ensuring that the beast tide is completely cleansed within the territory, especially around Buqing Mountain and Cloud Valley. Their dependence on our family will increase after the beast tide, and we should continue sending mortals there for assimilation!” Ye Xingliu said.

As for ensuring mortals complete spring sowing, the Ye Family doesn’t have a specialized hall entrance; at most, the Spirit Plant Elder can oversee the coordination, but everyone must participate for it to be sufficient.

This is necessary; otherwise, due to the beast tide, spring sowing might be delayed and many people could starve to death unless the Ye Family provides a large number of Fasting Pills.

But Fasting Pills are not something ordinary mortals can consume; only those with good physiques can withstand the potency of the pill.

And now, with a need for population growth, if we don’t focus on mortals, the Ye Family’s triennial Immortal Ascension Conference will become more scarce.

“Additionally, the family’s restaurant will open in Taihang Market a month later, and the location has already been selected. We acquired it from the Mo Family, so this time make sure to prepare, and also prepare the marketing plan!” Ye Xingliu continued.

This news was a pleasant surprise, and many cultivators smiled brightly.

Even Ye Jingcheng was unexpectedly pleased, as the Mo Family voluntarily relinquished the restaurant.

But after thinking it over slightly, Ye Jingcheng understood that the Mo Family’s best move now is to maintain their Foundation Establishment Clan status, rather than aiming for the Purple Mansion Clan.

It’s likely they’ll send someone across great distances to search for the East Sea.

It’s just unknown how they will feel when they spend years reaching the East Sea, only to find a strange ’family’ there.

“Xing He will still be responsible for the restaurant, and the family will give him a Tier Two Spirit Beast as a protector!” Ye Xingliu said.

Since Ye Xinghe is not present this time, other family members will have to convey the message to him.

“Third, the family’s Pill and Artifact Shop will open in Taichang Market in March, alongside the Chu Family. The personnel stationed at Taichang Market, every three years, will be first overseen by Jingcheng!” Ye Xingliu outlined the future plans item by item.

Taichang Market is far more important than Taihang Market, whether in the quality of loose cultivators or the quantity of treasures; it cannot be compared to Taihang Market.

For example, the Foundation Establishment Pills available once every ten years at Taichang Market far exceed those at Taihang Market.

Moreover, if the Ye Family becomes a Purple Mansion Clan while remaining confined to Taihang Commandery, they risk suspicion from the sect.

Just like now, both the Xu Family and the Mo Family have shops in Taichang Commandery.

This is essentially a status symbol.

After the family assembly concluded, Ye Jingli and Ye Jingyu left, while Ye Jingcheng stayed behind to finalize some details for the opening of the family restaurant.

Finally, only five people remained. The Sea Generation kept Ye Haiyun, the Xing Generation had Ye Xingliu and Ye Xinghao, and the Jing Generation had Ye Jingcheng and Ye Jingmu.

Apart from Ye Jingcheng and Ye Xingliu, the other three were particularly skilled in spiritual cuisine.

Plus, with the Ye Family’s Spirit Beast supply, this is the foundation for the Ye Family to open a restaurant.

“Regarding the restaurant’s plan, do you have any good suggestions? If not, let’s follow Jingcheng’s model of selling spirit pills, and give spirit tea. In this aspect, Xing Han’s Spring Tea is quite good, and the family has begun promoting it!” Ye Xingliu said.

Ye Xinghan’s Spring Tea is cultivated from ordinary camellia, with a very rich fragrance, although its spiritual energy is a bit low.

But for most loose cultivators, they can’t afford tea with high spiritual energy.

“I think we should combine the family’s pill shop and spirit beast shop. The family has cultivated quite a lot of Red Section Fish now. Without the Ban Li Order, let’s issue the Red Leaf Order. Anyone who purchases over a thousand spirit beasts or accumulates purchases over a thousand Spirit Stones at the family’s pill shop will receive a Red Section Fish spiritual cuisine as a gift. This could preemptively build momentum for our restaurant, eliminating the need for special cultivators to hype it up on opening day.” Ye Jingcheng also suggested.

This suggestion caught everyone’s attention. In this world, offers are genuine price wars, but people tend to be rigid on giveaways and combinations.

“Let’s go with Jingcheng’s suggestion, and hold the family Immortal Ascension Conference on an appointed day. You, as the next patriarch, should also try out, as you might find some good Immortal Seedlings for the family!” Ye Xingliu said with a smile.

Ye Jingcheng nodded at this, as he indeed wanted to visit White Cloud Town. The last time he went to White Cloud Town was over ten years ago.

The best way to overcome the impacts of the beast tide is to infuse fresh blood into the family, and the Immortal Ascension Conference is undoubtedly the best way.

Furthermore, testing the Immortal Seedlings sometimes makes new family members feel more familial.

This could also aid Ye Jingcheng in becoming patriarch in the future.

After everyone left, only Ye Jingcheng and Ye Xingliu remained.

Seeing Ye Jingcheng hesitant to speak, Ye Xingliu quickly saw through Ye Jingcheng’s thoughts and directly said:

“Regarding the Spirit Beasts, the family is imitating and installing a Teleportation Array. Once the Teleportation Array is ready, your Spirit Beasts can return!”

“Additionally, your Spirit Beast cultivation is indeed impressive; even Second Granduncle praised you. Keep it up!”
