Beast Taming Clan: I Have a Jade Book

Chapter 147: Chapter 148: Jade Qilin Pill

The howling mountain wind awoke all things.

The sunrise from the northeast came later than usual today.

But the small courtyard’s window remained unopened.

Inside the room, the Array was activated to its fullest extent, the Golden Scale Beast was reluctantly curled in a corner, while the Jade Qilin Snake finally stopped eyeing the Golden Scale Beast and instead raised its snake head to gaze at Ye Jingcheng and the Red Flame Fox.

The snake flicked its tongue repeatedly.

Compared to half a year ago, Ye Jingcheng’s aura was significantly stronger today. Due to the frequent use of elixirs, there was still some erysipelas left in his body, but he felt that he was not far from reaching the Qi Cultivation Ninth Layer.

Moreover, after nearly half a year of research, Ye Jingcheng was now preparing to refine the Jade Qilin Pill to help the Communication Beast Jade Qilin Snake break through the Qi Cultivation Ninth Layer in one go.

Before Ye Jingcheng stood a variety of Spirit Medicines. Apart from these, there was also a Jade Talisman, which was a summary from the small Alchemy Master meeting he had attended.

A lot of it consisted of Xu Haoyi’s experiences and insights.

There were also some amazing ideas about refining pills with Arrays.

Unfortunately, he had not researched the latter thoroughly enough and couldn’t share it with Ye Haiyun due to the Heart Demon Oath.

The Red Flame Fox beside him was also ready.

Ye Jingcheng started the Yun Furnace technique, being extra cautious for the Jade Qilin Pill was a Water Attribute Elixir.

This time, he continued using the Secondary Furnace Technique.

Under the intense flame changes, the Cyan Elephant Furnace emitted a crisp elephant cry, and the flickering Spiritual Light distinctly resembled an elephant lifting its foot.

Ye Jingcheng couldn’t help but smile. This was a good omen, indicating that this Yun Furnace was more perfect than the last secondary Yun Furnace.

Ye Jingcheng calmly released some auxiliary medicines, which he quickly divided into four portions.

These were rapidly refined within the furnace, emanating Spiritual Light of various colors.

This time he used the Four-Part Alchemy Method again, increasing the chance of forming pills.

After all, he had no extra Spirit Medicines to refine another batch, and given the talent of the Jade Qilin Snake, which was likely better than the Red Flame Fox, Ye Jingcheng was not worried that the Jade Qilin Snake would require two Jade Qilin Pills.

The Four-Part Alchemy Method evidently involved more pressure and consumed more Spiritual Power compared to the Three-Part Alchemy Method.

Fortunately, Ye Jingcheng’s fire control was handled by the Red Flame Fox, so although tired, the Pill Furnace was more stable compared to when Ye Haiyun attempted it.

The furnace lid was lifted slightly by the terrifying heat, but then snugly closed again.

This method of lifting the lid didn’t indicate poor control on Ye Jingcheng’s part; rather, it was part of his rhythm.

The main purposes of lifting the lid were twofold: to release heat and to disperse impurities.

Of course, if lifted too abruptly, it would lead to escaping the Essence.

Even if the pills weren’t ruined, their quality would decline significantly.

Ye Jingcheng’s approach clearly fell into the former category.

At this point, Ye Jingcheng finally took out three main ingredients.

The Cyan Snake Flower had the most potent effects, and upon taking it out, the Jade Qilin Snake’s eyes sharpened, reminiscent of its look at the previous Golden Scale Beast.

It slightly opened its mouth, but only a hissing sound emerged.

It dared not disturb Ye Jingcheng at this moment.

As the Cyan Snake Flower entered the furnace, the Spirit Pattern of the entire Pill Furnace instantly became extremely intense, and it felt as though a Spirit Snake was about to escape, lifting the pill lid.

Ye Jingcheng quickly increased control and activated some Pill Residue.

Simultaneously, he took out the Jade Beauty Fruit and Water Cloud Grass.

The medicinal properties of these Spirit Medicines were extremely potent individually.

As they were added together, the sweat on Ye Jingcheng’s forehead became more and more.

At this point, the benefits of the Four-Part Alchemy Method were revealed, allowing for four-part fusion instead of an immediate explosion.

Time slowly passed, and suddenly, a hint of Pill Fragrance emerged, delighting Ye Jingcheng greatly.

He didn’t expect that there would be any Pill Fragrance on his first attempt to refine.

He extracted some Treasure Light and transferred it to the Red Flame Fox.

Refining a top-grade spiritual pill evidently demanded more Spiritual Power.

Finally, with a crisp elephant cry, the Pill Furnace shook momentarily, and the lid flew open, revealing a blue Spirit Pill the size of a dragon’s eye within the furnace.

A fragrance, akin to flowers after rain, filled the air.

Ye Jingcheng waved his hand to collect the Jade Qilin Pill.

The Jade Qilin Snake beside him immediately hissed urgently.

Its snake head was extremely excited, swaying up and down incessantly.

Ye Jingcheng continued cleaning up the Pill Furnace, believing that after alchemy, cleaning and wiping the Pill Furnace was crucial.

Otherwise, he would suffer consequences in the next pill refinement.

Once he finished tidying up, Ye Jingcheng finally had his hands free.

He then heard the Divine Soul fluctuation of the Jade Qilin Snake.

“Hungry!”

“Master!”

“Eat!”

…

The Jade Qilin Snake was extremely eager, but it did not move forward. After expressing its need once, it simply followed Ye Jingcheng wherever he went.

“I’ll give you some Treasure Light to ingest in a moment!” Ye Jingcheng said.

For the Jade Qilin Snake, there was no need to wait. It lay there daily, never in a poor mental state.

It was Ye Jingcheng who needed to recover.

Just then, a thunderous sound came from the peak of Lingyun Peak.

“The great array is upgrading today; no one shall panic!”

…

…

The announcement echoed three times, using the Sound Amplification Spell most commonly employed by cultivators. The cultivator speaking was none other than Ye Haiyi, someone Ye Jingcheng knew.

Of course, Ye Jingcheng was well aware that this was not really an array upgrade.

It was the family’s spirit vein that was upgrading.

After months of preparation, it was finally happening.

Ye Jingcheng walked out of the house and gazed towards the mountain peak, noting that the mist-entwined area had become even more profound and mysterious.

The once visible snowy peaks could no longer be seen.

Strange sounds from the sky suggested a roaring spirit beast, and the wind intensified, howling to the extreme.

Even the sky seemed to glow with a different spiritual light.

The earth started to tremble.

This tremor grew stronger as if the mountain range was tearing apart and collapsing. High above Lingyun Peak, the Mountain Spirit Shield began to materialize.

That shield was also strengthening, visibly more solid with brighter spiritual light, clearly indicating that the Mountain Protection Array had also strengthened following the spirit vein changes.

Ye Jingcheng tested the refinement of the Four Phase Celestial Essence Scripture and indeed found that the spiritual energy in the air had increased somewhat.

This was still at the foothill; at the mountain’s peak, the change was undoubtedly greater.

Moreover, this increase in spiritual energy would continue to rise in the future.

Ye Jingcheng came to his Spirit Field and took out a Middle Grade Spirit Stone, replacing the previous Lower Grade Spirit Stone.

Instantly, he felt that the spiritual energy within the Spirit Field rose significantly.

Ye Jingcheng brought out the Jade Qilin Snake; with the spirit vein’s elevation, there was no need to delay. Taking advantage of this elevation period could facilitate the Jade Qilin Snake’s breakthrough.

The Jade Qilin Snake behaved very obediently, coiling beneath the Spirit Gathering Array in the Spirit Field.

Ye Jingcheng infused the Jade Qilin Snake with a substantial amount of Treasure Light and also took out two Green Water Pills for it to consume first.

The snake constantly flicked its tongue, consuming whatever Ye Jingcheng offered.

From time to time, a fluctuation of hunger was conveyed.

Eventually, Ye Jingcheng presented the Jade Qilin Pill.

Upon swallowing the Jade Qilin Pill, the Jade Qilin Snake’s entire body was enveloped in brilliant jade light.

“Master!” The Jade Qilin Snake curled up, signaling to Ye Jingcheng its intention to enter seclusion.

Ye Jingcheng then disabled the Array and isolated the Five Poison Bees.
