Beast Taming Clan: I Have a Jade Book

Chapter 122: Chapter 123: Opening Up the Spirit Field

“I was fortunate enough to refine one, and I came to ask Great Uncle Eight for a second opinion!” In the Pill Pavilion, Ye Jingcheng did not delay and immediately took out a jade bottle, handing it to Ye Haitian.

Ye Haitian took the elixir and opened the jade bottle.

He then carefully examined the elixir’s pattern, color, and spiritual energy condition.

If there is pill fragrance and pill pattern, one must check the intensity of the fragrance, and if there is a pill pattern, look at the size and length of it.

However, it was clear that this Spirit Nurturing Pill had neither pill fragrance nor pill pattern.

“It is indeed a Tier One Top-Grade Spirit Nurturing Pill!” Ye Haitian’s eyes showed surprise.

Others may not know, but he was indeed aware that Ye Jingcheng took only eleven years to progress from a Tier One Lower Grade Alchemist to a Tier One TopGrade Alchemist!

This talent in alchemy, even with the help of a spirit beast and guidance from Ye Haiyun, is quite remarkable.

Surprised, Ye Haitian capped the bottle and affixed an ordinary spirit talisman to the bottle.

“This pill needs to be submitted to the Patriarch and all the main halls for review, and then you can enjoy the treatment of the family’s Alchemy Elder, which is much better than your previous lecturer qualification!”

The Ye Family may not have many people, but it does have several main halls, including the Beast Hunting Hall responsible for demon hunting, the Pill and Artifact Hall for alchemy and artifact refining, the Spirit Plant Hall for family spirit plants and spirit medicine gardens, the Spirit Array Hall for arrays and spirit talismans, and the Treasure Tower responsible for family resources.

“Great Uncle Eight, I heard that for the development of the Spirit Field, the family will also assist. Regarding this matter…”

“Rest assured, this matter is indeed true. The family will provide spirit stones, set up a Spirit Gathering Array, and even spend contribution points to arrange for members of the Spirit Plant Hall to help you manage the Spirit Field, preventing the invasion of spirit grass and spirit insects. But you need to sell a certain amount of elixirs to the family at a discounted rate each year, and any excess you can continue selling to the family!” Ye Haiyun nodded.

“Thank you, Great Uncle Eight, but I don’t need the Spirit Plant Hall’s people; I have my own manpower!” Ye Jingcheng recalled a figure catching insects on a rainy day.

With the Five Poison Bees, it would be completely fine.

No need to spend extra contribution points.

Ye Jingcheng then took out a jade talisman, which contained several questions about alchemy, and he also took out spirit tea and spirit fish, beginning to prepare spiritual cuisine.

For Ye Jingcheng’s questions, Ye Haitian answered with narrowed eyes, while continuing to sip the spirit tea.

Cyan Spirit Tea is always suitable for a leisurely afternoon, facing a scene of mountains and rivers, sipping slowly.

As for the spirit fish, Ye Haitian indicated that next time, it would be unnecessary.

Ye Jingcheng nodded, keeping this in mind, and then took out two spiritual almonds, which Ye Haitian seemed a bit surprised by but then returned to calm.

He did not refuse the spiritual almonds, and after a while of question and answer, Ye Jingcheng took his leave.

Returning to his own courtyard, Ye Jingcheng summoned the Jade Ring Rat, carefully observing it and finding that it indeed had a pair of long and sharp claws.

However, they were usually covered by its jade ring ears and with its plump appearance, they were hard to notice without close observation.

The Jade Ring Rat squeaked twice, seemingly puzzled.

“Eat two more Spirit Nourishing Pills!” Ye Jingcheng took out two Spirit Nourishing Pills for the Jade Ring Rat.

The rat chirped happily.

After Ye Jingcheng left, it began to gnaw in the corner.

After returning from the Pill Pavilion, Ye Jingcheng’s life resumed its calm with cultivation and alchemy.

Two days passed like this, and on the third day, a ray of light appeared.

A spirit talisman soared through the sky, and Ye Jingcheng was just in the midst of studying a pill formula.

Receiving the spirit talisman, he opened the door wide:

“Seventh Sister, it has been a long time!” Seeing the visitor, Ye Jingcheng’s face was full of smiles.

The visitor was none other than Ye Jingyu, who had previously chosen the Jade Ring Rat like him.

“Jingcheng, you’ve made Seventh Sister envious. Not only have you broken through to the Qi Cultivation Seventh Layer, but you’ve also become a Tier One Top-Grade Alchemist!” Ye Jingyu’s eyes were full of envy. Over the past ten years, she had been stuck at the bottleneck of the Qi Cultivation Fifth Layer.

Besides some achievements in the field of spirit plants, nothing else made her satisfied.

“It was just luck!” Ye Jingcheng smiled in response, saying no more as he knew that saying too much could make Ye Jingyu feel like he was showing off.

However, he clearly underestimated Ye Jingyu, who, after her initial envy, regained her composure and seriously said:

“Jingcheng, I am here on a mission to help you develop Spirit Soil and set up a Spirit Gathering Array!”

“But first, I need to set up a Qi Observation Array to see which spot near your courtyard can retain spiritual energy best!” Ye Jingyu said.

“Then I’ll have to trouble Seventh Sister!” Ye Jingcheng nodded.

Spirit Fields must be able to accumulate spiritual energy so that they can complement the Spirit Gathering Array and not be counterproductive.

The reason why major sects and schools in the Cultivation Realm are located near mountains, valleys, or Spirit Lakes is because these places can accumulate spiritual energy and are more likely to give birth to spirit veins.

Ye Jingcheng naturally wanted to establish his Spirit Field near his courtyard, which was located on a gently sloping area. To find the optimal spot, an array measurement was necessary.

After speaking, Ye Jingyu began taking out the array banners.

Arranged around, these array banners, though not many, have profound mechanisms, and as an outsider, Ye Jingcheng could only watch the spectacle.

As for exploring other Four Skills of Cultivation, he never thought about it.

He didn’t have the time, as daily cultivation, alchemy, and beast taming already took up all of his time.

The array banners were quickly arranged, and around his house, apart from the array of his small courtyard, a layer of white mist rose in other areas.

This white mist was extremely mysterious, condensing around and not dispersing, nor floating away.

It operated automatically around the area.

“Jingcheng, when the spiritual energy is at its strongest during dawn or dusk, the best location for the spirit field can be assessed,” Ye Jingyu gently wiped her forehead and said with a light smile.

“Seventh Sister, have some spirit tea, there’s no rush!” Upon hearing Ye Jingyu’s explanation, Ye Jingcheng found it quite mysterious, but he wasn’t in a hurry.

The two sat, drinking spirit tea, chatting about recent happenings, and about family matters that hadn’t been discussed in a long time. Ye Jingyu, like Ye Family mortals, lived in the Ye Family’s Xiao Shui Town.

In their conversation, his Seventh Sister expressed a desire to return to Xiao Shui Town for a visit.

In the Ye Family, the first ten years on the mountain were for eliminating mortal thoughts, and one cannot go home to visit relatives. Only after twenty years could one apply to return once every ten years.

Of course, if the desire was strong, one could apply to become the guardian of several towns, protecting them from demon beast invasions.

Ye Jingcheng agreed, as he came from the Ye Family’s White Cloud Town.

The Ye Family’s mortals number a hundred thousand, spread across two counties and eight towns.

Both White Cloud Town and Xiao Shui Town are among the eight towns. Ye Jingcheng had no close relatives in White Cloud Town, but he wanted to go back and see the old town head.

Orphaned at a young age, he was occasionally helped by the old town head.

Unaware, the sky had turned a crimson sunset, and they had drunk most of the spirit tea. Even with refilled water, there was no more tea color.

Ye Jingyu stood up solemnly and approached to observe the array.

At this time, the white mist inside the Qi Observation Array began to churn, moving towards an inconspicuous spot.

“Here it is!” Ye Jingyu pointed there and then took out an array disc to set up a Spirit Gathering Array.

This Spirit Gathering Array was also prepared in advance; it only needed to be buried in the ground. The array disc had several slots, specifically for placing spirit stones, with three spirit stones currently on it.

“Jingcheng, replace the spirit stones in this Spirit Gathering Array every three months. To plant spirit objects of Tier One Middle grade or below, only three lower-grade spirit stones are needed!”

As the array banners activated, Ye Jingcheng also noticed that a formation appeared around him, similar to the one inside his room, except that this formation directed most of the spiritual energy into the ground.

Next, it was time to encircle the land and place spirit soil liquid and spirit stones.

To cultivate spirit plants well, fertile soil is naturally needed.

This spirit soil liquid is made by imitating spiritual soil with spirit medicine, the best for fertile soil,

Often a small bottle can sell for hundreds of spirit stones, and in the market, it has a high price but no demand.

After all, some small Qi cultivation clans, upon finding a lesser spirit vein, would develop spiritual soil, allowing long-term spirit stone harvesting and heritage continuation.

This stable income from spirit stones is favored by most cultivators.

The spirit soil liquid bottle was not much bigger than a pill bottle; even so, Ye Jingyu used only a quarter of it, and the encircled area was about an acre.

After using up the spirit soil liquid, Ye Jingyu buried spirit stones in a specific order.

In the end, nearly thirty spirit stones were buried.

“Jingcheng, the spirit field has begun to take shape, but it is best not to plant spirit plants now. Instead, till the soil every day and bury some plant ash and remnants. Also, bury a spirit stone every ten days; in two months, it will become a true spirit field. For non-special spirit objects, they can be planted closer together,” Ye Jingyu explained.

Ye Jingcheng nodded in agreement; this aligned more with his wishes, as he had Five Poison Bees and wanted more spiritual honey to earn more spirit stones, so he needed a denser planting of poison flowers.

After setting this up, he still needed to arrange an array around the spirit field.

“Jingcheng, do you need help managing the spirit field in the early stages?” After explaining some precautions, Ye Jingyu gave Ye Jingcheng a jade talisman.

The jade talisman also contained some solutions for early-stage spirit field management.

“I don’t need help, but do you know anyone selling poison flower seeds? I now have a few Spirit Bees that favor poison flowers,” Ye Jingcheng asked.

“For poison flowers, you should find Sixteenth Uncle; he has extensive research on various spirit plants,” Ye Jingyu said. Although slightly disappointed by Ye Jingcheng not seeking a Spirit Child, this feeling quickly faded.

After advising Ye Jingcheng, she soon departed.

Watching Ye Jingyu’s leaving figure, Ye Jingcheng’s mind conjured the name Ye Xinghan.

He had heard a bit about Sixteenth Uncle, who indeed excelled at cultivating spirit plants and was said to manage the family’s Tier Two spirit plants.

He had seen Sixteenth Uncle once during an Inner Hall meeting, yet Sixteenth Uncle wasn’t fond of talking, appearing quite reclusive.
