Apocalyptic Disaster: The King of Soldiers' Ultimate Pampering

89: Chapter 89 Pretend not to knowBecause these zombies were fast, if they didn’t drive faster, being caught by these zombies would mean their vehicle would end up much like the recreational vehicle on the hillside.

”We can still increase the speed a bit more.”

Meng Hangfei didn’t dare let his focus waver for even a second.

His hands gripped the steering wheel tightly while one hand kept fiddling with the vehicle’s control panel.

This vehicle was modified and could accelerate further in emergencies, though it consumed a significant amount of energy.

So, to be safe earlier, he hadn’t accelerated.

But given the current situation, acceleration was now a necessity.

Once Meng Hangfei was ready...

Huo Sixian, Lu Huan, and Kong Ziyi were also prepared.

One person splashed gasoline, another set up the weapon, and the third prepared the ignition source.

The moment Meng Hangfei accelerated...

The three of them acted simultaneously.

Almost as soon as the vehicle shot forward, an intense wave of heat erupted behind them.

The zombies burned by the fire let out sharp, unpleasant shrieks.

However, this method was clearly effective.

Because the zombies chasing at the front were directly trapped in the flames, and then the zombies behind them were also caught in the spreading fire one after another.

At the same time, the vehicle driven by Meng Hangfei was almost flying.

Huo Sixian and the others had essentially escaped the zombie pursuit.

Huo Sixian looked back and couldn’t help but feel a sense of relief.

Meng Hangfei glanced at Huo Sixian in the rearview mirror: ”Boss, should we go check out that hillside?”

Another reason Huo Sixian wanted to go to the hillside was that the helicopter’s last detected location was also on that hillside, after which its signal had vanished.

Moreover, they had just seen the recreational vehicle on that hillside.

A sense of foreboding stirred in Kong Ziyi’s heart, but he didn’t dare voice it.

He was afraid Huo Sixian would stop eating and drinking again like before.

Huo Sixian’s eyes darkened: ”Let’s go take a look.”

Meng Hangfei turned the steering wheel. Only after driving a long distance did he switch the vehicle out of its acceleration mode.

He was also afraid that if they kept the acceleration mode on any longer, they wouldn’t have enough fuel to return to the base.

And they had just used some gasoline to burn the zombies.

For the rest of the journey, they could clearly feel the vehicle slowing down.

But their destination was the recreational vehicle on the hillside.

As the vehicle approached, everyone saw that the fire on the recreational vehicle had already gone out.

The entire recreational vehicle had become a burnt-out wreck.

A sense of foreboding rose in Huo Sixian’s heart.

Because around the charred recreational vehicle, he didn’t see any sign of human activity.

They didn’t even see Ah Huang’s paw prints.

Lu Huan looked at Huo Sixian, feeling as if that aura of death had surfaced on Huo Sixian again.

It made one’s heart tighten involuntarily.

At this moment, Ye Qingqing, who had been about to sleep with Ah Huang, saw several people appear outside her space.

Looking closely, they were familiar faces.

Ye Qingqing immediately became alert.

Had they discovered her?

Why were Huo Sixian and the others here?

Ah Huang also saw the situation outside the space.

It let out a low whimper.

It disliked Huo Sixian intensely right now.

Previously, this Huo Sixian had even tried to separate it from Ye Qingqing.

So Ah Huang was annoyed just seeing Huo Sixian now.

It kept nudging Ye Qingqing’s hand with its nose, urging her not to pay any attention to Huo Sixian.

Ye Qingqing’s eyes sharpened; she naturally understood Ah Huang’s meaning.

She hadn’t intended to acknowledge Huo Sixian anyway, but she was somewhat curious why they had come here.

Moreover, the temperature outside was not low. To come to this desolate wilderness in such scorching heat was extremely abnormal.

”Boss, Ye Qingqing couldn’t possibly be in this recreational vehicle.”

Lu Huan tried to advise, though he didn’t voice the rest of his thought: even if Ye Qingqing had been in this recreational vehicle...

She would likely be dead by now. Surviving inside it with such high temperatures, plus the fire and explosion, was simply impossible.

So Lu Huan didn’t say it.

Huo Sixian’s throat moved slightly. He strongly felt that Ye Qingqing had been here before.

But why was there no one now?

Even if Ye Qingqing had died in the explosion, there should at least be a body or something.

But there was nothing.

A flicker of doubt arose in Huo Sixian’s heart, but then he remembered Ye Qingqing’s previous Ability to make the helicopter vanish into thin air.

So Huo Sixian firmly believed Ye Qingqing wasn’t dead. Just like when she jumped into the sea, she hadn’t died; she just didn’t want to see him.

Inside her space, Ye Qingqing watched Huo Sixian’s expression and felt a trace of sorrow seemed to surface on his face.

She had never seen such an expression on Huo Sixian’s face before.

Moreover, Lu Huan had clearly mentioned her name just now.

Could it be... they were actually looking for her?

Ye Qingqing deduced that the reason they could find this place was most likely the previous helicopter.

At the same time, Ye Qingqing could confirm this was the Capital City.

Because the Warship’s final landing point was the Capital City.

Ye Qingqing began to weigh her options.

Originally, Ye Qingqing had planned to wait until the fire and temperature outside subsided, then take off in the helicopter from this hillside to find the next place to settle.

But now she unexpectedly encountered Huo Sixian and the others.

So, for the time being, the helicopter couldn’t be used; it had to stay inside the space.

As for why Huo Sixian was looking for her...

Ye Qingqing had a vague guess but felt it was impossible.

She even instinctively felt that nothing good would come from being found by Huo Sixian.

Originally, she just wanted to live quietly with Ah Huang alone in this Post-Apocalyptic World.

Previously, on the Warship, getting involved with Huo Sixian not only attracted that Xu Xueke but also nearly harmed Ah Huang.

Ye Qingqing would not allow such a thing to happen.

But Ye Qingqing also asked for Ah Huang’s opinion: ”Ah Huang, do you want to be with Huo Sixian and the others?”

Ah Huang immediately shook its head, emitting a low growl.

Its demeanor clearly showed unwillingness.

Ye Qingqing shrugged: ”Alright, we’ll listen to Ah Huang. We won’t go out. We’ll pretend not to know them.”

Unable to find Ye Qingqing, Huo Sixian and the others finally had no choice but to drive away.

When night fell, the temperature outside dropped, and the area around the recreational vehicle had cooled down...

Only then did Ye Qingqing get into an off-road vehicle, take Ah Huang, and emerge from the space.

Even though Ye Qingqing had pre-cooled the car inside the space and placed plenty of ice inside...

The moment she exited the space, Ye Qingqing still felt a wave of heat hit her face.
