Cultivation: Starting from a Mortal Bone

Qin Yu’s alchemy continued.

Once his realm improved, he no longer needed to pause to restore Spiritual Power while purifying the medicinal liquid.

After refining the herbs into medicinal liquid, he began the purification process.

His ten fingers moved slightly, and a web of Spiritual Power slowly unfolded.

Now, he could already maintain over a hundred and sixty strands without breaking, and the impurities in the medicinal liquid were gradually reduced with each filter.

Seeing this, Su Xihe’s expression finally eased slightly.

Although Qin Yu’s alchemy skills seemed somewhat lacking in her eyes, his control and application of Spiritual Power were quite commendable.

She could also tell that Qin Yu was not very skilled, yet the web he weaved was very stable, showing no signs of breaking.

This might be a testament to his exceptional talent in Spiritual Power.

In any case, whether Qin Yu could become the top Alchemist in the Yunlan Domain or not, Cyan Mountain Sect certainly found a treasure.

And he was found in Loose Cultivator City, which was simply unbelievable.

Time passed.

”Phew—”

When Qin Yu could remove no more impurities, he withdrew his Spiritual Power, exhaled a turbid breath, and a satisfied smile appeared on his face.

Looking up, he found that the Sect Leader’s expression was calm, without any fluctuation.

It seemed that this new master was not very pleased with him.

This was bad!

Back in Lin Xian City, due to the rush to improve his cultivation realm, he had neglected this aspect the whole time.

If it weren’t for the strength of his Spiritual Power, he probably wouldn’t even qualify to catch the attention of the high and mighty Sect Leader.

As expected.

”Your alchemy techniques are still quite raw, resulting in significant medicinal properties loss. It might barely suffice in Lin Xian City, but if you wish to achieve something in the field of alchemy, it’s far from sufficient!”

Su Xihe bluntly pointed out his deficiencies.

In fact, she was already planning to evaluate Qin Yu’s abilities in other aspects.

”I humbly request the master’s guidance.”

Qin Yu felt anxious, not daring to be the slightest bit disobedient, immediately assuming a posture of humble learning.

Doomed, doomed.

He thought he could see the Sect Leader every day, but without the master-disciple relationship, seeing her even once would be almost impossible.

Su Xihe glanced at Qin Yu with a faint hint of surprise in her eyes.

She had thought that after sharply pointing out Qin Yu’s shortcomings, he would show some resistance.

Geniuses, after all, tend to be somewhat arrogant; it’s quite normal!

But Qin Yu, instead of showing any defiance, became even more respectful and eager to learn.

This left the Sect Leader, who was planning to properly reprimand him, without an excuse to do so.

Helplessly, she could only put the matter aside for now.

Turning instead to teach Qin Yu the art of alchemy.

”Alchemy is not merely about refining herbs into medicinal liquid. During the process, one must also be mindful of the loss of medicinal properties. If too much is lost, then no matter how high the quality of the medicinal liquid is, it is useless...”

The first words of the Sect Leader made Qin Yu pause.

He had never heard of the concept of medicinal property loss.

However, now he understood why Spiritual Power was necessary for purifying medicinal liquid; using other methods would lead to a significant loss of medicinal properties.

What’s the difference between medicinal liquid filtered through other methods and water?!

”Therefore, the technique during the refining process is particularly important!”

As Su Xihe spoke, her slender hand rose slightly, drawing over a set of herbs, which she refined with Spiritual Power while slowly teaching Qin Yu her unique alchemical methods.

Qin Yu listened attentively, his eyes locked on her nimble hands, afraid to miss a single detail.

This was, after all, the Sect Leader’s first instruction.

She deliberately slowed down each move, every twist of the wrist, every leap of the fingers, accompanied by detailed explanations of the reasons, purposes, and intentions behind them.

”The art of technique lies in adaptability. If one remains rigid to form, they lose the original intent...”

Su Xihe’s words, like the gentle rain of spring, silently nourished, suddenly clarifying Qin Yu’s previously vague concepts.

Regardless of the exquisite technique, even the simple explanations provided immense benefit to Qin Yu.

Moments later.

The herbs were already refined into medicinal liquid.

”You give it a try.”

Why go to such lengths?

Of course, the Sect Leader wanted to assess Qin Yu’s comprehension ability.

She didn’t expect him to master it immediately, but if he couldn’t grasp at least the basics, she would have to explore his talents in other areas.

”Alright!”

Qin Yu responded and picked up another set of herbs.

First, he began recovering his Spiritual Power.

This prudent behavior earned the Sect Leader’s approval.

Caution, after all, is fundamental.

Once he felt adequately recovered, Qin Yu mentally replayed the master’s technique.

Then he opened his eyes.

”Snap! Snap!... Snap!...”

The movements were not very smooth, quite slow actually, yet there was no mistake.

While the essence was yet to be discussed, the form was certainly imitated completely.

”Hmm?!”

Su Xihe was taken aback.

She hadn’t expected Qin Yu to remember fully since it was only demonstrated once.

Yet Qin Yu not only imitated the form but had grasped some key points, managing to apply them passably.

His comprehension... was completely different from what she imagined.

This wasn’t mediocrity and incompetence; it was... sheer genius!

Even as the Lord of the Immortal Sect, Su Xihe had never seen or heard of such comprehension ability.

This guy...

His understanding was so strong, why were his methods and skills so poor then? Was it that his master didn’t teach him wholeheartedly?!

That didn’t seem right either.

The affection in Yin Qinghe’s eyes for Qin Yu was well observed by her.

No chance of secretiveness there.

This was rather peculiar.

What was it that led his techniques to be so ordinary?

Suddenly, the Sect Leader considered another possibility... This guy was slacking off!

Given he had so many Dao Companions, it’s like an ox having to plow several good fields at once.

The ox wouldn’t be worn out?

If he indulged a bit more, his health would soon collapse, and naturally, he would have no energy left for cultivation and skill improvement.

The more she thought, the more the Sect Leader believed this possibility was quite likely, and her gaze subtly sharpened, more determined to become a strict mentor.

She certainly wouldn’t let him continue down the path of depravity; henceforth, she would ensure to supervise him daily!

Otherwise, it would be a waste of resources and his talent.

But...

Wouldn’t that occupy most of her time?!

Sorrowful indeed.
