One-Eyed Monster

Igor looked at the Sol Brothers, then at Governor Rostov, and saw a kind of inexplicable determination on everyone’s faces. Even Rostov, a politician, did not hide his emotions at this moment, revealing them completely in front of everyone.

”Well, as the old man here has mentioned, let’s not waste time. We’ve understood what needs to be known, but there are some details we need to discuss,” Dean Hoffman said bluntly. They came to Igor this time to explore some of these details.

Many things had been clearly stated by Sol, but unknowingly, many things seemed to be mysteriously linked together. All these things had a common point, and that point was Igor.

Whether it was at Guru Mountain or in the Border Realm, Igor always appeared at the right place and time, often playing an unexpected role. Although Igor’s impact wasn’t the most crucial at times, he always managed to guide everyone to the key points. If these were all just coincidences, it would be a bit far-fetched, as coincidences don’t happen repeatedly; there must be some connection, and only Igor could explain it clearly.

However, Igor had been in a state of unconsciousness, and at that time, everyone could only speculate about what was happening to him.

Neither Dean Hoffman nor Governor Rostov believed Igor was hiding secrets. The boy was so pure that he believed whatever he was told; it was impossible for him to hide any secrets. Therefore, they thought Igor must have gone through some special experience, and that experience might be the key to everything.

This experience seemed to be related to Guru Mountain.

Because that blue-skinned creature, referred to by the Soul Devourer Master as the Agent of Destruction, had encountered Igor, and Igor even said that creature was his friend.

Hustace had also seen the blue creature named Kadi, but he knew very little about it, except for describing its appearance.

Their deductions and predictions came to a halt at the blue creature, requiring Igor to fill in this piece of the puzzle for them.

Igor didn’t know about these things, but he also needed to unravel the confusion in his mind. Although the books recommended by Senior Stim provided him with some insight, he still wanted to discuss with others the connection between the Border Realm and the Spirit World. More crucially, he felt that the Spirit Core in the Alchemy Workshop bore similarities to the core formed by the creatures in the Border Realm.

Everyone had their own speculations, and now everything awaited verification. Each of them held a fragment in their hands, trying to piece them together, and the fragment in Igor’s hand might be the most critical part.

”Igor, did you get close to that blue creature when you were at Guru Mountain?” Rostov asked first. He felt it was necessary for him to know these things as a governor.

”His name is Kadi, not some blue creature, and it’s not just me; Sol and Hustace have also had contact with Kadi.”

”Then, is there anything special about that blue, I mean, Kadi?” Rostov pursued.

”Of course there is something special. He has only one eye and also a tail, and it’s like we’re from two different worlds,” Igor recalled. But aside from Master Guzan, everyone else on Guru Mountain looked strange, so Kadi wasn’t that unusual among them.

”Only you are familiar with that, I mean Kadi, so when we analyze the enemies we may face in the future, we need to know which side Kadi is on,” Governor Rostov continued, as a politician, his position has always been clear, and he couldn’t tolerate any ambiguity.

Igor understood that the thought of the Agent of Destruction mentioned by the Soul Devourer Master had already taken root in these people’s minds.

But Kadi was his friend, and he had to defend his friend.

”I don’t care what you think about the Agent of Destruction, but Kadi is my friend. He is not an Agent of Destruction; I know this better than anyone. He is different from us, doesn’t know where he came from or where to go, but he definitely won’t destroy our world.”

Igor’s statement made the atmosphere awkward. They were merely guessing about this matter and had no definitive conclusion.

”Igor’s friend is naturally also a friend of the Sol Family!” Tobin Sol spoke up. He looked at Governor Rostov, understanding the stakes involved, but he chose to believe in Igor. He knew that such a choice might not be rational, but his experiences with Igor in the Border Realm left him with only one thought: to hell with rationality, he trusted Igor.

”Everyone need not be so anxious; we are only piecing together a puzzle with no definitive conclusions. Even the things we scholars once confirmed are now precarious. Right and wrong are matters continually verified as people progress. As for Kadi, I believe he isn’t a destroyer. After all, this fellow is with Guzan, isn’t he? I think Guzan wouldn’t make a mistake in judgment,” Dean Hoffman also stood up to speak.

If Dean Hoffman had used Kadi’s association with Kevin or his connection with the Seven Knights of Glory as a reason, it might have been more credible, but mentioning Master Guzan seemed like stepping on a land mine. Although many people respected Guzan as a mentor, none of Guzan’s three apprentices were models of virtue. The Alchemy Workshop, now led by Kuyi Tulan and Milo, was entirely different from before. These two’s knack for causing trouble was undeniable, and the Great Mentor had an apprentice named Asmon; the last news people heard about him was four years ago when he caused a massive disturbance at the Dark Cabinet. He trapped the top three guardians of the Dark Cabinet in a cage for four days and nights, subjecting them to utter humiliation. Even today, people from the Dark Cabinet seethe at the mention of the Alchemist, wanting nothing more than to tear him apart.

The idea that Great Mentor Guzan wouldn’t make a mistake in judgment? Haha, nobody would believe that.

”Kadi is not a bad person; I am convinced of that, so Lord Governor, please don’t be suspicious!”

The atmosphere grew tense again due to the mention of Kadi. Governor Rostov thought it better to be cautious, but Igor believed there was no need to be wary of Kadi, which deadlocked the entire atmosphere.

”I’ll go to the kitchen to fetch some food...” Hustace, feeling caught in the middle, hurriedly found an excuse to slip away.
