Our Family Has Fallen

Chapter 460: Chapter 297: Elders’ Council Resolution_2

The Spirit Communication Ritual can connect two places and can also be used as a medium for casting secret techniques.

Lance did not understand these complicated matters, but he could clearly see the intense Spiritual Essence that suddenly burst forth from the Crystal Ball, causing the projection to distort and abruptly enlarge.

At the same time, a mysterious and profound force emerged upon the phantom. It was a surging Spiritual Essence he had never felt before—so overwhelming that it far exceeded the pressure the Witch had previously put on him, even though the person was not physically present.

Legendary?

Just as the thought surfaced in Lance’s mind, he was engulfed by that surging Spiritual Essence before he could react further.

But in the next second, Lance was still standing in the same spot, showing no signs of anything unusual.

Instead, the expanding projection was cut off as if strangled, disappearing instantly. At the same time, Lance felt a familiar strangeness as a vast amount of Spiritual Essence returned from the Void, and two glass beads appeared out of nowhere.

He caught them before they could fall and carefully toyed with them in his palm.

The items resembled eyeballs, with the oddity that their pupils were white while the parts that should have been the whites of the eyes were black.

The colors were inverted, and the items even appeared to be alive, exuding an indescribable eeriness.

Suddenly, Lance, caressing the eyeball-like glass beads, burst into inexplicable wild laughter.

”HAHAHA! Well timed, indeed!”

These were a piece of equipment called the ”Messenger” on the panel, and their function was quite simple: charge them with Spiritual Essence, and then communication could take place across distances, somewhat like video and voice calls.

This situation had occurred before, when a Wizard courted death by letting an Abyssal Demon probe into him. The panel backlash killed the demon, dropping two items and a large amount of Spiritual Essence.

The recent event had given Lance a glimpse into the fact that the Romani’s long-distance communication ceremonies also relied on some entity as an intermediary.

That was why the situation just now had occurred. Although the feedback of Spiritual Essence was not as much as last time, this ”Messenger” truly solved his pressing problem, allowing him to no longer worry about losing control over Hamlet when he was away.

Thrilling!

Now, Lance could not wait for the Romani to cast an even more intense Curse upon him.

Let the storm rage more fiercely!

While Lance was caught up in ecstasy, the situation was far from joyous on that distant other end.

If the old woman’s attack was swift, the backlash was as rapid, and even stronger.

On the other side, a frantic storm of Spiritual Essence was triggered instantly, as if the internal Spiritual Essence was about to lose control at any moment and step into the heresy that all Transcendents feared.

Fortunately, she was a seasoned powerhouse who had lived for many years. Her methods for soothing turbulent Spiritual Essence were plentiful, not to mention her powerful self-control.

”COUGH COUGH...” Gradually, she managed to quell the backlash. However, the deeper wrinkles etched by her grave expression revealed it was far from simple. The cost was known only to her.

Yet, what she didn’t know was that bigger troubles were still to come...

At the same time, the telepathic network that the Seeker of Omens relied on collapsed, and Seekers of Omens around the world suddenly lost contact with headquarters.

The trade of information was paralyzed to a great extent, dealing a heavy blow to Seeker of Omens’ operations.

Without a clear understanding of the situation, panic was inevitable on both sides, and chaos kept spreading...

Sensing the unrest outside, the old woman grew uneasy and hastily called in the woman waiting outside.

”What has happened?”

”Our telepathic network has been destroyed. The exact cause is still under investigation...” the woman glanced at the old woman.

After all, she too had felt the burst of Spiritual Essence, but she dared not speak bluntly.

The old woman understood the implication but could not bother with other matters and immediately gave an order.

”Fix the telepathic network as soon as possible, and contact Tamara. Agree to whatever the other party says for now, try to stabilize them, and then inform me.”

As she spoke, the old woman sighed softly and waved the woman away.

”SIGH. I will take responsibility for this matter. Summon the Elders’ Council.”

”Yes,” the woman wasn’t sure what had transpired, but she knew it had to be a matter of significant consequence; otherwise, there would be no need to summon the Elders’ Council.

This council was not something that could be convened at will. Each Elder had various responsibilities to manage, and usually, only one or two would remain here.

Therefore, the council was customarily held only at specific times.

Of course, there was also the scenario of an emergency, a crisis threatening the Romani’s survival, that could prompt an impromptu council meeting.

This too required at least one Elder to have the authority to initiate the highest decision-making meeting of the Romani.

Given that the Elder asked her to stabilize the other party at all costs, could it be that what the man said was true?

But this wasn’t something for her to ponder; she wasn’t an Elder yet and just needed to handle the task at hand properly.

The woman hurried off to make arrangements. As soon as she left, the old woman suddenly raised her hand to her mouth, coughing violently the next second. When she removed her hand, she noticed streaks of blood on her palm.

Seeing this, the old woman involuntarily furrowed her brows.

The telepathic network was a system the Romani had painstakingly built over a millennium. It had experienced issues before, affecting its operation to varying degrees. However, she believed that once contact with headquarters was reestablished, the disquiet would subside.

The other Elders were not here, and the telepathic network was paralyzed. But luckily, for such a large organization, there would certainly be more stable methods of communication and contact.
