Our Family Has Fallen

Chapter 452: Chapter 294: Overbearing_1

To this, Tamara had no choice but to explain, ”Only she can find me, but now my position has already been revealed to them.”

Lance seemed to understand something. Tamara’s previous boasting about her abilities was probably exaggerated; or rather, only her hiding and fleeing could be considered far beyond ordinary, which was why ordinary Seekers of Omens couldn’t find her. But all that was from before the two had a proper discussion, and he wasn’t someone who liked to dredge up the past.

That made sense. No matter how talented these two were, they still needed time to grow. Considering how large the organization was and how long it had existed, the main force definitely wasn’t composed of this new generation.

”I can’t make the first move under the current circumstances,” Lance said. ”But you can go and provoke her. If she knows you’ve started contacting me, she probably won’t be able to restrain herself.”

Tamara understood what Lance meant and nodded, then left the room.

However, she didn’t go looking for Amanda directly. Instead, she made a detour to the kitchen and came out with some white bread. Both of their carriages were in the front yard. Tamara knew exactly how to provoke Amanda; she wouldn’t even need to get close. Just a slight manipulation of the Spiritual Essence for the carriage’s ritual would trigger it.

As expected, Amanda was startled awake by the sudden spiritual fluctuations. She hadn’t even put on all her jewelry and looked somewhat disheveled.

”HAHAHA!” A laugh as clear as a bell came from Tamara as she sauntered over to Amanda and teased, ”Have you had breakfast? I just ate inside, so I brought some for you.”

Amanda realized something from Tamara’s demeanor but didn’t get angry. Instead, she silently surveyed her surroundings. Most of her attention wasn’t on Tamara, as if to imply that Tamara posed no threat at all. As an elite Seeker of Omens, she had to remain constantly vigilant and anticipate any potential danger. Thankfully, apart from the malevolent Tamara, the surroundings remained quiet and peaceful.

Only then did Amanda turn her attention to Tamara, completely disregarding the bread she offered. In the past, an attitude like that from me would have stung the sensitive Tamara, who would have flown into a rage and started cursing. But today, Tamara seemed quite relaxed, munching on the fragrant, soft bread while casually mentioning how she’d been tutoring Lance.

Amanda sensed something was amiss. Is this girl bragging about her relationship with that man, confident that I wouldn’t dare to touch her?

Whether by coincidence or Lance’s design, just as they were talking, Susan came over and asked Amanda to leave.

”Miss Amanda, this is private property. According to Hamlet’s management regulations, a fee is required. However, because it’s your first time here, to show our town’s hospitality, My Lord has waived your parking fee. But you must cover the cost of the horses’ feed and cleaning yourself. If that’s acceptable, please pay the fees and then move your carriage.”

Susan directly handed her a bill. After all, Lance wasn’t the type to let someone freeload.

Upon hearing this, Tamara looked rather smug, a grin practically splitting her face.

Amanda silently accepted the bill. After a glance, she saw that the charges weren’t excessive; in fact, they were quite standard. However, the implication was clear; judging by Tamara’s smug expression, Amanda was clearly the only one who had received such a bill. Amanda didn’t ask why Tamara hadn’t received one, as that would only be self-humiliating. Instead, she showed little emotion, nodding earnestly at Susan.

”Thank you for your consideration. I wish to personally pay the Lord and express my gratitude. Excuse me, Miss, could you arrange a meeting with the Lord, so that I may offer my sincere greetings?”

Susan was somewhat surprised; she had been prepared to present the regulations to explain the charges. But there was no outburst, no fit of temper. Amanda’s composure was impeccable, so much so that even Susan couldn’t help but feel a slight liking for this composed and tactful woman. Knowing that the Lord needed to meet her, Susan naturally agreed.

”Alright, I’ll inform the Lord. Please wait a moment.”

”Thank you, Miss. This is just a small token of my appreciation,” Amanda said, taking Susan’s hand to show warmth. Susan felt a Gold Coin appear in her hand as if from nowhere. She’s really spared no expense!

”That’s not necessary; I’m just doing my job.” Susan reflexively declined. She knew the Lord strongly disapproved of such things, but when Amanda insisted, she accepted it and added, ”The Lord prefers people who are clean and tidy.” She knew this would put the other person more at ease.

Only when Susan had left did Amanda turn back to look at Tamara, a confident smile on her face, its meaning unmistakable. You didn’t really want to see me make a fool of myself, did you? I suggest you take a look in the mirror.

Only then did Tamara realize that Amanda had effortlessly diffused an awkward situation, while she herself had been completely left out of the exchange.

”HUMPH!” Realizing there was nothing more to say, Tamara turned and returned to her own carriage.

Once Tamara left, Amanda’s expression grew more solemn. Tamara isn’t important, but the Lord’s attitude is crucial. She actually managed to make contact first! I shouldn’t have been so conservative and waited yesterday. I barely gathered any information, and she beat me to it.
