Our Family Has Fallen

Chapter 454: Chapter 295: Playing with Reality_1

”Alright,” Amanda nodded helplessly. ”Please follow me; I will conduct the Spirit Communication Ritual for you.”

Seeing her finally relent, Lance relaxed a bit. He sighed, looking at Amanda, and said, ”Knowing it would come to this, why the initial fuss?”

Amanda couldn’t understand this phrase, but she could sense the teasing in his tone.

Lance was led into her trailer. It was essentially the same type of vehicle as Tamara’s, with a comparable amount of space.

The difference was that Tamara’s trailer was like a winter squirrel’s nest. It was filled with various collectibles she had gathered and more practical living supplies. Though somewhat chaotic, it emphasized practicality.

Amanda’s trailer, on the other hand, felt more like a room filled with exotic Romani charm. Decorations took up most of the space, leaving no room for stocked supplies. A large, thick carpet was spread on the floor, and a pleasant scent filled the air.

It felt not like embarking on a mission at all but rather like going on a vacation.

The contrast between them was that of a cargo truck filled with goods for a long journey and a refined RV.

However, Amanda was also quite casual. Lance could see her intimate clothing scattered everywhere, and the sizes were so unconventional they definitely had to be custom-made.

”It seems like you weren’t really prepared for visitors.”

”For the Romani, this is a very private space, and you’re the first man to come in,” she responded.

”Then I am honored,” Lance replied with a faint smile.

”I need to prepare for the ritual,” Amanda said, not wishing to elaborate further, and her attitude turned cold.

True, no one can be in a good mood when forced to do something, Lance thought.

”Suit yourself,” he said nonchalantly, understanding that one couldn’t expect smiles when forcing others.

Amanda began setting up the ritual without a word. Candlesticks and incense were lit, and all sorts of strange props were placed between the two of them.

Lance watched from the side and suddenly, without warning, remarked, ”We Hamlet people are not unwelcoming to outsiders. On the contrary, we welcome friends to visit, but you must abide by our rules and not bring destruction and conflict.”

Amanda hesitated slightly upon hearing this, but after a couple of seconds, she continued with the complex ritual setup.

”I’m feeling a bit dizzy; is that normal?” Lance suddenly blurted out.

At this, Amanda faced Lance again, but this time without the previous subservience and caution, and said with a complex expression, ”I’m sorry...”

”There’s... poison...” Lance, as if realizing something, widened his eyes and reached out to grab the person in front of him, only to collapse limply onto the floor as he turned his head.

Watching Lance collapse, Amanda clutched her head in her hands, digging her fingers into her hair and scratching.

”Damn it! Damn it! Damn it! Why has it come to this?” she exclaimed, then looked up at Lance and roared in a fit of rage, ”Why did you listen to that madwoman? Why did you force me to act? Why did you trust her? You were supposed to be mine! Mine!”

HAHAHA!

A sudden, inexplicable laugh broke the silence. Lance, lying on the ground, couldn’t suppress it any longer and burst out laughing. His act was over; he slowly sat up.

Amanda frowned, sensing something was amiss. The drug she used could knock out even a bull, so why was he unaffected?

”Are you wondering why your incense didn’t work?” Lance waved his hand to clear the wisps of smoke teasingly. ”We have a Pharmacist named Grendel in our town, who is a real expert at this stuff. Your little tricks are quite embarrassing in comparison.”

Having gained the trait [Natural Purification] after killing the Witch, Lance was already highly resistant to these drugs. No matter how much he inhaled, they would have no effect on him.

Lance had simply played along to lure out her words. I didn’t expect Amanda, who seemed so composed, to break down so quickly, Lance mused. Her display of impotent rage was so comical it made him laugh outright.

Teasing a fool really is entertaining.

But while Lance found amusement, Amanda didn’t see it the same way. On the contrary, she pulled away as if triggered.

Without wasting a word, she took out the Crystal Ball, infused it with Spiritual Essence, and activated the strange ritual she had set up earlier.

The few items, specially arranged to form the ritual, responded by emitting a burst of strong Spiritual Essence.

The caravan’s built-in ritual mechanism amplified the power of the Secret Technique. A terrifying force descended upon Lance, making him feel an oppressive weight. His body grew heavier, as if the surrounding space had solidified into a cage, trapping him.

Although caught in the ritual, Lance sensed the strange power but showed little reaction, speaking calmly, ”Tamara was right. You couldn’t possibly contact your backers on my behalf because you couldn’t admit defeat. You lured me in just to use the caravan’s power to set up a ritual to imprison me.

She even guessed you wouldn’t kill me outright, wanting instead to control and exploit me until my value was completely drained.

Everything is exactly as she described; you two truly know each other best.”

With their animosity out in the open, Amanda no longer bothered with her composed facade and spat out, ”Don’t talk to me about that slut! You’re the one who forced me into this!”
